Quoted from Jaybird815:

I’m guessing it won’t be found in Canada.

haha

#655 4 years ago

NYC and Philly airports closing. Serious enough for people yet??

#942 4 years ago
Quoted from CrazyLevi:

Cuomo is doing a great job.

Crazy huh? Seems like 50% of the country would rather hear "I don't take responsibility at all"

I also thought NJ governor Murphy did a good job with his update today.

#1427 4 years ago

Thread quickly devolving at a rate inverse to Coronavirus

#2101 4 years ago

Missed Dr Fauci on today's WH press conference. He will probably be featured on a future segment of "When Keeping It Real Goes Wrong"

#2205 4 years ago
Quoted from Methos:

Same old shit. Let's put businesses out of business and get people working again. The Nation is on the financial brink and class warfare is still front and center.

Exactly. I think I know where you stand but I don't understand this sentence.

#4807 4 years ago
Quoted from CrazyLevi:

Yeah, allow spring break to rage unabated for weeks in your state, and then blame it all on New York and beg your crony to institute an illegal NY wall off? Pretty much 2020 politics in a nutshell.

Not sure if this has been posted yet but I found it interesting. Cell phone tracking from Spring Break and showing how far those phones have traveled in 2 weeks (spoiler alert - Hello Ohio!)

https://www.commondreams.org/news/2020/03/27/cell-phone-tracking-analysis-shows-where-florida-springbreakers-and-new-yorkers

They also have a 2nd link that shows the flight of New Yorkers out of the city, so there's that too.

#5814 4 years ago
Quoted from CrazyLevi:

For the billionth time, it’s far more contagious and deadly than the annual flu. The annual flu doesn’t overwhelm our hospitals causing massive disruption to our health care system.

Selective memory - you don't remember the Great Flu of 2018-2019 where they shut down NYC, shuttered Disney World and stopped virtually all international flights??

#5864 4 years ago
Quoted from Mr68:

I don't know how effective they are but I'm using what's called a Buff and some are called a Neck Gator. Its very long so I can double up its thickness maybe even triple it. Easy and convenient to raise and lower as needed. I also wash it with bleach after each use.
It's gotta be better than nothing. Maybe?

Surely better than nothing, I have also seen people cut rectangles out of 2300 rated or higher furnace filters then add them in as a layer between the folds of your Buff

Quoted from arcademojo:

They might want those Navy hospital ships back.
Captain of aircraft carrier with growing coronavirus outbreak pleads for help from Navy
The USS Theodore Roosevelt, currently docked in Guam, has more than 100 sailors infected with the coronavirus.

That was my ship back in the 80s so I am following that story closely. Very few places to social distance on a ship, and I was one of the lucky ones with a workshop/computer space behind a cipher locked door.

#6669 4 years ago
Quoted from CrazyLevi:

The captain of the USS TEddy Roosevelt "relived of his command?" That seems odd.
Any of you military folk wanna tell me if that seems appropriate?

Quoted from cait001:

imagine these people, dedicating their entire professional lives to the military, undone by their concern for the lives they command.

Really the only possible outcome. Captains of warships don't let their humanitarian pleas for action find their way to the media.

On the plus side he kept his rank and did not get a Letter of Reprimand on his record.

#6968 4 years ago
Quoted from CrazyLevi:

I kind of understand why he got sacked. He broke the rules by leaking his important letter to the media.
Basically, he sacrificed his career for his crew, surely as a last resort to get action, to protect the men and women on that ship. He can be proud of his actions and the crew thankful.

TR Plankowner here, I spent some of the best years of my life floating around on that hunk of steel.

Leadership means making difficult decisions and taking responsibility for your actions. I am proud of Captain Crozier and we can see in the video his crew was too.

deleted - not sure why it put my comments inside the post being quoted

#7185 4 years ago
Quoted from Who-Dey:

Lol that's kinda funny also because another question I have is why do so many people take their dogs to Lowes? I've never noticed that in wal mart but always in Lowes seems like.

Lowes advertises as Pet-Friendly on the front door as long as they are leashed and well behaved and my closest Lowes is right next to Petsmart.

Not surprisingly about 3 months ago I ran across a stray in the tile department. Let one of the roaming workers know and he called somebody on his walkie-talkie and I never heard any announcement over the PA and didnt stick around to see the outcome.

#7430 4 years ago
Quoted from CrazyLevi:

LMAO
Yes he's right. This is all a big hoax, it's no worse than the flu, and we are all overreacting. Also, the stock market is rock solid and only morons are bailing out, and the smart thing to do is buy buy buy.
That's his bit from a month ago.
Now he's back, with the exact same act, with mild alterations, still saying it's overblown, still saying buy buy buy, still saying this will all be over in a month. The only real difference is now 100-200K dead from what he was calling a hoax a month ago is a tremendous accomplishment, and he's making jokes about how I'm going to die soon.
You can hope all you want. He is not right (in many, many ways).

You joke, but he did give us the rock solid financial advice of eat all the Apple you can at $300, $280 and $260.

I cant wait for 2022 to get here so he can gloat about being right.

Quoted from Daditude:

We're #1!! Lol

Sorry Texas - consumption really needs to be measured on a per capita basis

1 - New Hampshire
2 - Delaware
3 - Nevada
4 - North Dakota
5 - Wisconsin

Not surprisingly Texas rates right around average when compared to 50 states + DC

#8495 4 years ago
Quoted from cait001:

The gifts given by the likes of Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos were approximately 0.03% of their wealth.

You may want to read up on Bill Gates and his philanthropy

#8548 4 years ago
Quoted from underlord:

Nope. Mass, Vermont and Maine all export our beer. No sales tax. Consumption is based on sales in that state. So flawed data.

Quoted from arcademojo:

Same with DE. No sales tax so PA and MD buy from them.

Damn, you guys are right.

Giving myself a 4hr temporary thread eject for being stupid

#8745 4 years ago
Quoted from Jaybird815:

Lol, no, they’re from the butcher, us FIBs usually call the whole state of Wisconsin, Johnsonville

Enlighten me. What is an 'FIBs'?

#9718 4 years ago

25+ years of EZ-Pass and today was my first statement with no charges on it, so there's that.

#9812 4 years ago
Quoted from underlord:

I grew up on Good Harbor Beach. Miss it.

We rented for 20 years on Long Beach so I recognized that picture too. Could go for some fried clams right now

#9873 4 years ago
Quoted from jaytrem:

I sense we'll be seeing some more thread ejects soon.

LOL - no. This is one of the tamest threads on Pinside. Mostly stupid memes and pictures of what people are eating.

Biggest controversy here currently is 'should he or shouldn't he use Nestle's Instant Chocolate from the 90s' that's hardly worthy of a thread eject

#9924 4 years ago
Quoted from PantherCityPins:

Doctors don’t get a kickback from pharmaceutical companies.

*anymore

#9938 4 years ago
Quoted from Oaken:

The biggest bestest kickbacks we ever got were pens and paper pads from the pharm sales reps during my wife’s first year of residency. By second year they had shut that down too.

You guys missed the gravy train with biscuit wheels

#10369 4 years ago
Quoted from Jaybird815:

I’m getting up early and smoking a pork shoulder tomorrow.

I slow cooked a pork butt last night to make into carnitas today - cant wait for dinner

Quoted from cait001:

how can you tell who is ejected? Is there a list?

My *unofficial* tally of who we have lost in this thread:

RWH
wolfemaaan
MotorCityMatt
zr11990
iceman44
vicjw66
Zablon
DS_Nadine
TheFamilyArcade

DBLM

wolfemaaan was booted off the site entirely
iceman44 holds the record for fastest eject in under 48 hours

DBLM actually requested to be booted

Probably AT LEAST 6 Pinsiders on final written warning here and maybe a dozen or so that have been temporarily ejected and either changed their posting style or never came back.

#11625 4 years ago

Never forget. It's amazing how fast 'bootstraps' left some peoples lexicon when they were the ones applying for federal welfare.

#11679 4 years ago
Quoted from Mr68:

I read the sign and can only conclude that is a religious fringe group from Texas. I see a single red hat in the crowd and it's a Texas hat, not MAGA. In the remainder of the picture I see zero direct evidence of any party affiliation.
You do realize that Loony Lefties attend church, right?

Really? You can look for the one name that is NOT on there to know where this group stands.

Also, first thing I noticed was they misspelled 'Mnuchin'

Quoted from CrazyLevi:

Moving to an apartment twice the size this month in the same neighborhood. Since we are spending most our time at home why not have some room?
The nyc apartment market is softer than I’ve ever seen it. We are paying $2750 for a 1000 square foot apartment that would have gone for $3800 last year. No broker fee either which is a reversal of the norm (saved us another $3,000).
Look at this fucking palatial estate!!!

Damn - that's a lot of apartment for $2750. Can they just put the price back to $3800 in twelve months or are you somehow protected from that?

Hi Doctor , sorry to slide off topic a bit but what is the significance of the new membrane discovered in our brains ?

Not sure this is new, I think Cypress Hill talked about this in 1993.

Selfish and stupid is a very dangerous combo, especially given the obvious interest of foreign governments to sow discontent and interject false narratives into social media.

Quoted from Lame33:

The guy only had books published in 9 of the 10 Dewey Decimal categories. Probably didn't know what he was talking about...

The best trivia questions are ones where you also provide the answer. Which category is he not published in?

Quoted from PantherCityPins:

Again, if you are worried about cardiac issues in men what you really should be worried about is keeping those same men from getting COVID. The incidence of pericarditis and myocarditis in COVID patients is way higher than with the vaccine.
Take any vaccine side effect you want and the risk from COVID is higher.

Doc - sorry if this has been covered. What's the thought on booster shots for someone just getting over Covid?

Had J&J 3/21 and am scheduled for Moderna booster + Flu shot this Friday. Wife (Moderna), tested positive Sunday with home and lab tests and has been assigned work from home until next Monday. She and I shared the same symptoms although since I already work from home I did not get tested and just planned to isolate until next week. Kids got lab tests and came back negative, Thanksgiving guests that were concerned all took home tests and came back negative.

#27957 2 years ago

Started with J&J in March - just did Moderna booster + Flu shot yesterday and feel like a million bucks.

Local Walgreens got Abbott Labs rapid covid tests in stock; gotta say I haven't seen olds beserking like that since Cabbage Patch Kids were a thing. I was worried for the safety of the clerk that was stocking the shelves. Also, I guess limit of 4 for some people means your infant is purchasing their own tests? People are fucking weird man.

What's new York got? Deep dish pizza, statue of liberty, Niagra falls. Florida's got Disney, snakes, beaches, freedom.

deep dish pizza?? I think you are lost

So is it just dawning on some of you that somebody joining a specialized hobby forum 1 year into a pandemic and posting mostly in the 'Coronavirus containment thread' might just be here for the lulz or the trolling?

I called the MGM Vegas sportsbook and they are offering -200 his name is even Brian and -600 he can name all the members of Led Zeppelin
