Quoted from Coindork:

Karate class today for my son via Skype.[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

We did the same thing today with our son on Zoom. Things have gotten weird.

One of the local grocery chains has recently catered to the elderly which is nice. They open a couple of hours early specifically for them to shop.

#808 4 years ago
Quoted from Rabbit:

My hot water heater blew today. As I walked into Home Depot I was amazed at all the middle aged people jammed into the paint area waiting to select their colors. None of them were allowing any personal space between them. How is this any better than the kids at the beach? People need to set their priorities a little better.

My dishwasher and dryer broke this week and they aren’t old and weren’t cheap either. At least I’ll have something to do to keep myself busy when the parts get here. I’m just waiting for something else to happen

#1006 4 years ago
Quoted from PaulCoff:

People seriously have got to “UNF*CK” themselves “Time Now!”
Been working on setting up a hospital site with a bunch of nurse ratchets for the past 2wks and drive home yesterday to notice some parents let there kids outside to have a lemonade stand....WTF! I love America and our Freedom but please use some common sense.[quoted image]

Are you sure that’s lemonade? I saw a woman forcing her kids do this with toilet paper in the center of a nearby city.

Does anyone have any Lysol wipes that they want to sell? I’m a first responder returning to work on Friday from vacation after a couple weeks and have resorted to making my own hand sanitizer in preparation. This absolutely sucks.

#4886 4 years ago

Has anyone 3D printed their own masks? Please PM me if you have. I have some questions.

#5432 4 years ago
Quoted from SantaEatsCheese:

And in the "it's probably about to get a lot worse" category, they are handing "essential critical infrastructure worker" papers at work in case we are pulled over or it comes down to checkpoints. Gonna keep this to pass on to the grandkids (in 50 years).

Until the Supreme Court gives the green light that shouldn’t be happening but obviously has already happened in some places. The police don’t want to stop people as much as you don’t want to be stopped. They are putting themselves and their own families at risk.

Quoted from Luckydogg420:

At this rate my yard will be ready for summer before april. I got all of the brush burned today. Just have to fill some leaf bags tomorrow[quoted image]

I’ve filled 60 so far and haven’t made a dent and my yard isn’t that big either.

#6156 4 years ago
Quoted from JodyG:

A guy running for office here in PA has a Facebook page called "May for PA". He sits downtown in Scranton every day and films the Greyhound buses continuing to drop off NYC residents in Scranton. You can't buy a one way ticket from Scranton to NY, or a round trip from Scranton-NYC-Scranton. But you CAN buy a one way ticket from NYC to Scranton. Two Greyhound employees have already died from the virus. Greyhound stopped the daily trips for a day after pressure, but reversed course and started back up again this week. They are literally helping the problem spread to other areas. In my opinion, we haven't seen anything yet as far as deaths go. Unless the curve starts to flatten, we are on track for 65k-70k total deaths in the next 11 days.

I just tried to do this out of curiosity and it let me get to checkout. So you can book these trips unless it stops you when you try to pay.

#7105 4 years ago

So this morning I went grocery shopping and I was surprised to see that the vast majority of people shopping were wearing masks and gloves. They have also limited it to 100 customers in the store at a time. The last few weeks neither were the case.

#7156 4 years ago
Quoted from Who-Dey:

Where are people getting these masks and gloves?? I cant find any anywhere.

Mostly homemade masks.
Some were N95, a few were the ski style with the removable filters. I have no idea on gloves. I have a ton from before because I use them for various projects and have chickens and a rabbit.

#7622 4 years ago

Here is a question for those who are considered “essential” workers. Are you being required by your employers to take your temperature before work? Not necessarily in front of them. It could be on the honor system.

#7628 4 years ago
Quoted from Who-Dey:

No yet but I think it's coming. Not sure why they are doing it because they don't give a shit if everyone if us were to drop dead. I expressed concerns about having to share my office with someone else that doesn't even need to be in it and they said you are 6 feet apart, that's good enough. I tried to explain to them about how the virus hangs in the air and can travel 27 feet when someone coughs but they said that's all hypothetical stuff. Well ok, I'll just sit in here and eat their Corona like a good little boy and not rock the boat.

They want us to twice a day which I’m fine with. I also take my own 02 saturation with a pulse oximiter since I have one in my house anyway because my son has bad asthma. I may be paranoid but he will end up in the hospital if he gets it.

Lovely. Now we won’t be able to get groceries without waiting in a line outside. Really? How about everyone just stays 6’ away from me. Better yet, 20’? I’m not a big fan of masks for everyone, but I’d succumb to the idea to squelch this idea. Now I won’t want to go to the grocery. What’s next?
I’m growing a garden and setting live traps....

They started this last week at a grocery store chain here. They are limiting it to 100 customers to the store. The lines are minimal to nothing because some people just go in for a few items. The other two chains in town don’t have this problem because their prices are so high. It makes it next to nothing for foot traffic in there with the limit. Home Depot is limiting to 100 per store as well. I placed an order online so I could get in and out. There was no line there. Walmart is looking to do one way traffic.

This has been one of those days where no phone call is a good phone call.
It's usually like that anyway, but today, it especially is.

My heart goes out to you. Stay strong.

Quoted from embryonjohn:

Last week I contacted the management company who handles the lease on my warehouse and asked if could pay only half of the rent. I was hoping for them to counter with a third off.
They immediately said, “fine...
Now I kinda wished I had asked for more.
Still, that’s a lotta Lunch[quoted image]

Do you still have games setup there? I know you were moving things around quite a bit

#8738 4 years ago
Quoted from embryonjohn:

Fireball (yours), Last Action Hero, 2001, Big Hit, Chexx Hockey, ‘69 Chicago Coin Slap Shot, Pac Man

Quoted from Dooskie:

Unfortunately the golf course that I own in mid-Maine will be shut down through at least the first week of May. Enjoy being able to be outside!

What course? I’ll have to check it out. My in-laws live about 30 minutes from Old Town.

#9210 4 years ago
Quoted from Dooskie:

Hidden Meadows Golf Course. Exit 197 off of 95, turn left, 3/4 mile from the interstate. It's a fun, challenging 9-hole course, that has a foot of snow on it from last night's storm.

Does the fee include a round of pinball afterward?

#9392 4 years ago
Quoted from Dooskie:

With the clubhouse closed, we've got seven pinball machines set up in here right now.

I had some outpatient cancer surgery on Monday. I was supposed to be at the hospital at 9:10 for a 10:10 procedure. The place was so empty, they had the surgery completed by 9:45. It took longer waiting to get a prescription filled at the pharmacy than it did for everything else combined.

I hope you are doing well. I go up your way 3 or 4 times a year. I’ll have to check out the course for sure. My father in-law plays so much golf he owns his own cart at the course next to them.

Quoted from embryonjohn:

My sauce and my home town.
Chelsea is known for brutal poverty, high crime and burning down right to the ground every 70 years or so, hence the hot sauce name.

All in a city that is only roughly two square miles...crazy

#9600 4 years ago
Quoted from Colsond3:

Well I’ve been busy scraping and flouring this damn mylar residue off this friggin playfield. And all so I can just sell it to daditude.
Stay ay Home Orders are exhausting. [quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

Hide those pictures someone might rob you for that rubbing alcohol. . I actually read an article the other day where someone’s house was broken into and all their sanitizer, wipes, and toilet paper were stolen. They must have been a hoarder and someone was showing them a lesson.

#9604 4 years ago
Quoted from Luckydogg420:

Flour is also hard to find around here....and your just throwing it on a playfield. It’s like quarantine porn. “Can you mix the rubbing alcohol and flour together and smear it all over your playfield?”

It is here too I guess. I went shopping yesterday and the guy ahead of me in line had it. The cashier was shocked. We use gluten free flour in my house because my daughter has celiac disease so I haven’t run into that problem.

#9605 4 years ago
Quoted from Wickerman2:

Fully recovered. Minor case of pinsiditis.
My daughter on the other hand, decided today, in mid-pandemic would be a great time to fall and break her hand. 5 hours in ER, Doctor, X-rays, and a hand surgeon later...probably a case of covid to go as well. And we have to go back to the building filled with sick people in a few days for more X-rays and maybe change the splint to a cast. Awesome timing! I told her my hacksaw was just sharpened and I could save a trip.

Hoping for a speedy recovery. Stay healthy and safe.

Quoted from arcademojo:

3 pallets full of eggs delivered on Friday. No shortage here.[quoted image]

What do you do with all of those eggs?

#9648 4 years ago
Quoted from arcademojo:

I run the dairy and bread departments at a grocery store. That is our typical delivery 3 times a week in the month before Easter. Not my personal eggs. Normal delivery is 1.5 pellets of eggs.

What are your grocery stores like there? Yesterday I went and we had one way traffic with a 100 customer limit. All employees were wearing masks and there is glass in front of the cashier. Our city just put a mandate that everyone must wear a mask if you are out in an establishment of any sorts.

#9719 4 years ago
Quoted from CanadianGamer:

We’re supporting local business here too. Just bought some board and card games from the local game store which is closed, but they delivered the games to our house the next day. We need stuff we all enjoy doing as a family to keep the sanity, and sometimes it’s a good outlet to beat the crap out of each other in a civilized manner. I can’t seem to get the girls into pinball but they like board games.
Just picked up Ticket to Ride, and playing the crap out of Settlers of Catan, both great games and highly recommend.[quoted image][quoted image]

Ticket to ride is a great game. I haven’t dug into Catan yet. My son got it a while back as a gift.

#9778 4 years ago

I just bought something similar to these. If you search “pollution mask” on eBay they come up. Most of them are made of neoprene and the filters are replaceable. The filters are supposed to be equivalent to an N95 (pm 2.5). I paid around $10 for the mask and $12 for a pack of 20 filters. Even if they don’t work I guess I’m protecting my face with fabric

#9905 4 years ago
Quoted from DCP:

Caution! PM 2.5 is not equivalent to N95...N95 filters 95% of particles 0.3 microns or larger. PM 2.5 means 2.5 micron particles can get through.

It’s better than nothing I guess. And probably better than wearing something homemade. We are all screwed anyway. The virus is even smaller than what an N95 protects from. It’s .125 microns.

#9919 4 years ago
Quoted from Geteos:

According to 3M KN95 is equivalent to N95 in terms of performance. KN95 is just the Chinese equivalent to the US NIOSH N95.
"Based on this comparison, it is reasonable to consider China KN95, AS/NZ P2, Korea 1st Class, and Japan DS FFRs as
“equivalent” to US NIOSH N95 and European FFP2 respirators, for filtering non-oil-based particles such as those resulting
from wildfires, PM 2.5 air pollution, volcanic eruptions, or bioaerosols (e.g. viruses). "
Source: https://multimedia.3m.com/mws/media/1791500O/comparison-ffp2-kn95-n95-filtering-facepiece-respirator-classes-tb.pdf
Now whether these masks are actually made to those standards is another question.
It's kind of like DIN vs ISO vs JIS standards.

They are supposed to start using the KN95 here in healthcare settings because of shortages but there are concerns over counterfeits. So they are requiring certificates of origin.

I was an EMT at one point a few years back but I let my license lapse. I don’t know how legit this is but I got this postcard in the mail asking me to reinstate it upon my request. Honestly, it could legit. Basic EMT hasn’t changed all that much in a couple years and it wouldn’t require much training to get it back. I still have all my first responder certifications. They must really be desperate for help.

Quoted from jorge5240:

A friend of mine who is a first responder in California says any death, if the person has a fever or cough is being classified as corona at this point until Possibly tested postmortem.

So a first responder (EMT, police, fire) know how deaths are being classified? I doubt it.Put a bunch of middle school girls together in the same room and you will have the same amount of drama as would if you put a bunch of first responders together. It’s like going back to middle school all over again. They gossip a lot and rumors start. I am a first responder and see it first hand.

I’m glad I don’t have any debt. Apparently there is a loophole in the the stimulus plan where creditors can seize the money.

#10891 4 years ago
Quoted from flynnibus:

tax refunds wouldn't have been exempt before. So I think this is more theoretical than practice. They would have had that problem with their refund in prior years too (assuming they don't owe). Those that are getting paper checks probably would cash and be aware of this anyways.
I think the concern is meritus... I just don't think people are likely getting burned by it.

I don’t really see creditors going after people for the debt through the stimulus check but maybe states will go after the money for backed child support.

#10897 4 years ago

Don’t know if this has been covered but more stimulus money may be coming...$2000 a month +$500/per child for 6 months for some.

Quoted from twoplays25c:

It's becoming increasingly hard to believe, that this is now where we at, here in America.

"While having a fabric facemask over your face can help, experts have recommended the inclusion of a filter in the middle of the fabric to help catch any particles properly. The best type of filter recommended is HEPA vacuum bags made of polypropylene are the “gold standard,” face mask expert Juliana Sohn told the Huffington Post ... Air conditioner filters can also work, so long as they don’t contain fiberglass."
In today's Harrisburg PA newspaper:
https://www.pennlive.com/coronavirus/2020/04/coronavirus-mask-making-facts-and-myths-does-a-coffee-filter-help-best-worst-materials-to-use-more.html

Another pinsider posted a tutorial video (post 632) of a nurse who made fabric masks with furnace filters inside of them. The ones she was using were equivalent to an N95.

Quoted from phil-lee:

Federal Services like the FBI must get permission from the Local Sheriff before a visit. You have a right to request the Local Sheriff be present at any arrest by Federal Agents.

This is not true. Federal agencies usually just give the courtesy call of letting them know they are doing it but not always.More often than not they sit on a house to wait for a guy to come home or whatever so they can arrest him and they don’t want the local police circling around the house while they are sitting there. That’s why the call is made.

Back to Coronavirus.
30% of random street sample test positive in Massachusetts.
https://www.foxnews.com/science/third-blood-samples-massachusetts-study-coronavirus
I think everyone's going to get this thing... it just won't effect most people that much. It sucks for the people it effects though.

Chelsea isn’t really a good representation of population. It’s a very small city that is roughly two square miles that is densely populated. It is a very diverse community with a large population of immigrants. A lot of people are forced to work jobs despite the quarantine and often live in crowded housing.

Quoted from arcademojo:

Don't fall for it. It says no evidence that packages are contaminated from what they tested but that doesn't mean it's not posable.
This is another masks don't help. Oh wait now everyone needs to wear a mask thing.
I will say it's highly unlikely (IF) everyone is wearing masks in the packing plant, distributor, grocery store receiving/stocking and all customers. It is a fact that the virus can live on surfaces and just takes one person to cough or sneeze by the package to contaminate it. If you think everyone is wearing masks behind closed doors you are wrong.
My tip is to never buy the item in front/on-top. Always pick from one or two behind. I just got done wiping stuff down putting it away a minute ago and I work at the grocery store.

It may have to do with viral load. Everyone is talking about how long it lasts on surfaces. For example (Paper 5 days) but not how much is left. A majority of it could go away rather quickly but a few particles could remain which might not be enough to transmit the disease. Day 1-2 could have a lot and day 3-5 have next to nothing but still be present.I read an article somewhere with actual numbers on this. I wish I could find it. I’m still a really bad germaphobe and I’m still probably going to wipe things down. I did today when I went shopping.

Due to my nerves over my wife working in the ICU, Massachusetts being 4th on the list of most cases and this never ending cycle of cabin fever...I’ve basically been rehabbing every damn room in the house. Take that Corona! You son of a bitch.

Quoted from Ericpinballfan:

Few pages back someone asked me for a Disney update. Watching a little news last night the press is catching wind of what Ive known for a month.
Open by next spring at best. One local station thru out Jan 1, just dumb, Christmas week is a huge money maker at the parks with Big New Years Celebrations.
We have talked behind scenes of how long to decorate for xmas. Would take the crews about 2 weeks, normally 3. But working days with closed parks would speed that up. Not working long nights in the cold will be better but no overtime.
Both parks in Ca and Florida have massive stopped projects right now. Unfinished Avengers land at Disneyland. And Disneyworld has so many unfinshed projects its to many to list.
There is not one person working on these projects as we speak. No construction happening. Some concrete poor in Florida is all out side of parks.
I see sports starting before Disney opens.
Dont buy DIS stock this week.

Since you’re talking Disney. This popped up on a Google news feed. Thoughts?

My wife has MS
Her Rx caused us to isolate 6 weeks ago
Now docs are using several MS meds to treat COVID-19 since both trigger cytokine storms. So the risk in some cases is the reward. Fine line inbetween I'm sure.
What a rollercoaster it's been. I will be returning to work on the 1st & taking every precaution I can.
I forget what it's like to talk to people, wear shoes, work, etc. Wish me luck!
My mother was admitted yesterday for pneumonia. So that's super shitty. Wish her luck too.

Stay strong and best of luck.

Turns out KN95 & N95’s are not similar coverage ....Great. I’ve worn both for extended periods and there is a noticeable difference in face coverage and quality. So much for the government approving them for an alternative use for first line workers as a result of the N95 shortage.

https://www.boston25news.com/news/health/first-responders-made-china-kn95-masks-are-not-advertised-according-mit-researchers/WKU2LIMY5FGTPNFY5M2Q3E53SY/?outputType=amp

#12559 3 years ago
Quoted from cottonm4:

My question(s): If this mask KN95 is not any good, what the hell chance does grandma's homemade mask have in providing protection?
It makes no sense.
What little trust I have had with the government putting out honest information has, rightly or wrongly, evaporated.

Grandma isn’t directly in peoples faces touching them and giving them CPR or getting spit at by some idiot. Grandma isn’t in an infected crime scene for several hours sweating her ass off to keep the scene secure. Grandma isn’t intubating a patient as spit flies everywhere. Those are just a few reasons why we wear N95’s. You get spit on or go in an infected area and you might change your mind

I think people are missing the point of wearing gloves. I see people in the grocery store touching their face and their phone etc wearing them

A lot of Walmart talk here so I’ll add some more.

81 workers tested positive at this location and it was back up and running in a few days.

According to The New York Times 1/3 of all U.S. deaths are nursing home residents or workers.

Quoted from Mr68:

Some people want to fight wearing a mask while I'm gonna have fun with it. This new one arrived yesterday and I have some other stylish masks coming soon. Wear your mask and show you care.

Those neck gaiters look neat as masks but I don’t know much they are actually helping. I was given one that looks almost just like that and it’s almost see through. It’s like wearing the equivalent to thick black panty hose.

Quoted from Mr68:

I would love to have a medical grade mask to wear but I want those to be available to our essential workers, medical staff and first responders.

Thank you so very much for doing this . You have no idea how much it’s appreciated. I wonder every day if I’m going to return to work and have a mask available or not.

Quoted from swampfire:

Hey all, if you don’t have your city and state in your profile, please consider adding it. I enjoy knowing where (roughly) people are posting from, and we promise not to stalk you. Right Pinside?

Says the guy with no city and state listed.

Best Corona masks ever...but not the greatest to rob a convenience store like these clowns did. You’ll get caught right away. I wonder if they ate the melon.

Quoted from noob-a-tron:

My partner works in an Age Care Facility and they are not allowed to wear masks as it scares the residents.

That’s not fair to your partner. 1/3 of US cases are in nursing homes. I don’t know what it’s like in Melbourne. But it sounds like they could be held liable if your partner gets it.
