Quoted from cottonm4:However, at the same time the state shut down smoking inside we were also getting a new state sanctioned casino built. And the state, while shutting down smoking everywhere else, has allowed smoking in the casino. But the casino also has a superior air ventilation system.
That was such a bone of contention when that ban went through, and still is for some. The stuff about a "superior air handling system" is just something used to justify keeping smokers in the casino, and I doubt it does much good. If you go into one for any length of time at all, you com out smelling like an ashtray regardless. It pretty much came down to losing revenue to neighboring states that still allowed smoking, and the only way to force a stop is to do it across the board and over all states. I used to smoke too, so I am not innocent, but I really don't know which is worse....sitting net to a smoker at a poker table, or having to run the gauntlet of smokers standing just outside the door at every entrance.
