Quoted from Zablon:

tough call when someone is basically spreading what could be considered false information as fact, but the reality is we don't really know one way or the other yet...

There is a bunch of this in this thread and particularly the prior thread from people saying that it was no big deal to people saying the world is going to end today. People are letting fear and politics cloud judgment. Please think before you post, folks.

@oldpinguy, there were no mandatory quarantines today, per your postings yesterday. Any updates?

I have to address some misinformation out there. There have been folks in this forum and others posting that they are hearing about quarantines, military actions, and the like from family members or friends of a friend. I think these folks are well intentioned in wanting to pass along info but ultimately wind up causing more unnecessary panic and churn. Please, please folks, consider what you are posting before you post it. And readers, please verify the information and the source before your consider it a fact. I get that people are scared, and these are indeed serious times, but let’s all try to maintain our heads as best as we can. Together, we will get through this.

The World Health Organization released some tips to cope with everything going on. Motherhood and apple pie stuff, but good to keep in mind.

Eat healthy to boost your immune system.
Limit alcohol and sugary drinks.
Don’t smoke. It can exacerbate COVID-19 symptoms and increase your risk of getting seriously sick.
Exercise for at least 30 minutes a day for adults and an hour a day for kids.
If you’re allowed to go outside, go for a walk, run or bike ride while keeping a safe distance from others.
If you can’t leave the house, dance, do some yoga or walk up and down the stairs.
People working from home shouldn’t sit too long in the same position.
Take a 3 minute break every 30 minutes.
Get your mind off of the crisis. Listen to music, read a book or play a game.

Quoted from Wickerman2:

That and the WHO tests that 60 Countries accepted in January and we refused. Nobody in government has given a good reason for this. Test, isolate, test, isolate...it’s not rocket surgery. That’s the formula but if you don’t test, then you’re screwed.

Let's clear up one misperception about the WHO and CDC testing. The US did not turn down tests because it was never offered them. From the CNN article below:

"No discussions occurred between WHO and the CDC about providing tests to the United States, WHO spokesperson Tarik Jasarevic told CNN on Tuesday, and WHO did not offer coronavirus tests to the CDC."

If you dig into the article and others, it appears that the US did single thread for waiting for the CDC test, which the first one was flawed. This created delays and combined with other redtape, is the reason we are behind in testing. It's ok to be upset about testing, but lets make sure that we have facts straight.

Quoted from Psw757:

Yep and if we want to point some fingers it should be at the head of the WHO. Continually defends and panders to China. Refused to declare it a Pandemic and insisted animal to human transmission wasn’t possible.
https://thehill.com/opinion/international/487851-china-and-the-whos-chief-hold-them-both-accountable-for-pandemic

Some interesting allegations in that piece. Right now, I am not focused on pointing fingers, just trying to separate facts from not quite facts. If we all keep our heads, we will have the best outcome that we possibly can from this event.

I am cutting the cord. I would appreciate your help.

I wish everybody else well. Please, please, please keep your wits about you and practice common sense and respect for others. This is going to get worse before it gets better, and this is the time to try to help as opposed to tear down.

This! Exactly my thoughts - are you sure you really want a thread eject?

Yes. Nothing for me in here.
