Quoted from Rezdog:

Sometimes you have to be blunt about this social distancing.

More often than not with some.

Finding it very difficult having to read my iPad from 6 feet away

Quoted from OLDPINGUY:

The Villages...The senior community with golf carts, and a super high rate of HIV, is a microcosm of bad
behavior, based on political info, in the state.

Wow. I was worried about those people. Now I'm gonna smirk. After having spent a considerable amount of my life with seniors and golfing, I'd have to say that many of my older buddies would move into Leisure World if it were like that.

Quoted from TheFamilyArcade:

I said majority rule. Not the electoral college. Guess you missed that part?
And yes, I think 250 years after the constitution was written some changes are necessary. They’re called “amendments”, and we need one to abolish the electoral college. So that the majority of Americans hopes and dreams aren’t highjacked by a bunch of yahoos gaming the system.

Man I seriously cannot believe your unamerican way of thinking (and those of you that agree with him either) and your hate for this country. Oh yeah and how the hell have you not been banned from this thread yet? Every post you make is about politics. Funny how some people like yourself can say anything that they want and arent held accountable.

Quoted from russdx:

Why has the UK got such a high death rate? 17k cases and 1k deaths that’s insane yet the state’s has like 100k cases and 600 odd deaths?

Relatively few tests done (only those admitted to hospital until recently), so the denominator is low making the mortality rate seem higher. By contrast, Germany does a lot of tests and has an apparently low mortaliy rate (0.5%) for the opposite reason.

#4506 4 years ago

Random testing would perhaps provide the true statistics

#4507 4 years ago

If we get to 1000 deaths a day in the US, I hope people won’t still be talking about the “real” mortality rate.

I have found staying hungry throughout this stay at home ordeal has not only made me feel healthier, but also is showing great improvement at my waistline.

Electoral college is widely regarded as out of date. Not a radical assertion or “unamerican” whatever the ef that means...

Quoted from Zablon:

You can't throw your epeen around and claim you're better than everyone else if everyone is treated equal.
Also, I think most people have no clue what socialism is...and most of them are the ones railing against it.

I cant stand people blindly talking about free education without considering the implications. We live in the most upwardly mobile educational system win the world, with constant opportunity to retrain, go back to school, and go to school part time and create opportunities for advancement later in life.

Ever live in a country where the government pays for college? It’s not so wonderful, unless you are chosen to attend. The govt pays, so the govt decides who gets an education. Best case scenario, it is truly merit based and, by the time you’re 13 your test results putnyou on a college track. God forbid you screw up your life as a teenager—there’s not so many second chances. Going back to school as an adult is a rarity. Worst case scenario-the govt starts deciding to fund students based on quotas and demographics, not merit. Or you’re told what your aptitude is or what the governments needs are, and what they will pay you to study.

No thanks

The electoral college is f*cking brilliant and it was put in place for a reason. Educate yourself and find out why. Our forefathers were literally f*cling brilliant people.

Wow, not sure what your source or country of reference is but that’s not at all how it typically works. And yes, I grew up in a country that offers free education and none of the things you mention are even close to my experience on how it works!

A thought did cross my mind last night. A lot of people are giving our leader shit because of things he said. In most cases he said it is what he thought. But also has obviously listened to experts about it and changed what he "thought", into what he now knows and has tried to act accordingly. We hired a business man, not a scientist.

That is all.

I feel like us non-Americans should have our own designated thread where we just look at the headlines from America and silently mouth "W T F" every hour.
Would save pinside like 50% of all moderation

People are scared and concerned for their families. I’m all about Reading the wtf comments. They can create animosity but also further discussion, along with said wtf person maybe learning something. Now is not the time to segregate countries. We’re all in this together.

Remember, folks venting. Including yourself.

It's not going to get changed so may as well forget it. The people that dont like the election results need to stfu and get over it. I've never seen this kind of crying and acting like stupid little babies in my life. I hated the last guy that got voted in with a passion but I still stood behind him a d wanted him to do good for our country. He didnt but I never wanted him to be the failure that he was I promise you. I would have been an unamerican POS if I would have been that way.

If he wasn’t so dang boastful and could complete a paragraph without sounding like Dr Seuss it would be more helpful also. But as you say, he is a business man not a speaker.

Lol. I did! This isn’t the forum for it but you’re way off. Here’s a hint: 8 of the first 9 presidential races were won by someone from Virginia. You can educate yourself on the rest. I hope.

Quoted from albummydavis:

Ever live in a country where the government pays for college?

Yup, I'm a Canadian. Long story short when I moved to the USA I had zero medical debt, zero school debt, zero debt period. The poor locals couldn't wrap their head around that concept as it seems like most Americans are drowning in some form of debt. Ironically even with all that debt, my schooling was better than theirs having done stuff like Calculus in high school. It made getting a job down here quite trivial.

Quoted from albummydavis:

This is so wrong that it's borderline comical, but I know better than to try and convince people otherwise. If I were in power I would mandate that Americans be required to live one year in another country, not vacation but actually live. That's the only way locals can see how utterly bad some facets of American life are, would hopefully change some insanely wrong impressions of how people in other countries live, and hopefully would get people to revolt for change here once they actually saw how disadvantaged they are in many respects.

As said just a few posts above, that is one part of it. The other part is the GB health system...

If you want to have a more relieable percentage just compare the death count to the number of people who had to get intensive care.

Good job dickheads.

Hes allowed to leave if he wants to. Theres not really much that he can say anyways that we dont already know is there? I'm not sure why he would be so bothered by what was being said but if it bothers him then he should leave I guess. This thread was not about him, it was about the coronavirus pandemic.

A little meme humor. Because it all can’t be bad news and bickering about politics.

That's a fact there. They have turned it into this. They started it and we will finish it.

#4550 4 years ago

Ur missing the point of us/them. WE NEED TO drop laying blame or this person would be better or choosing sides here. I’m scared we are all scared. I’m coping with this fear by trying to get a laugh in sad times...U may be coping with this fear in others ways. Each his own instead of us vs them. We “lost a virtual” doctor in this thread because of this divide we as a nation have. We can not afford for this to happen in the real world much less on pinside.
