Quoted from BrianJ1337:

Leaky vs. Perfect Vaccines has been a debate well before covid ever came along. Our childhood vaccines are what is considered "perfect vaccines", mRNA therapy is a leaky vaccine. - https://www.healthline.com/health-news/leaky-vaccines-can-produce-stronger-versions-of-viruses-072715
"These less-than-perfect vaccines create a “leaky” barrier against the virus. Vaccinated individuals may get sick but have less severe symptoms, but the virus survives long enough to transmit to others, which allows it to survive and spread throughout a population."
There's plenty of articles on leaky vs perfect vaccines before 2019 you can find.
In the beginning they were marketing these therapies as "perfect vaccines"
"You won't get hospitalized or die if you get it"
"you won't have to wear a mask"
"you can resume normal activities without worrying about infecting others"
Then it was "breakthrough infections are rare!"..

In the beginning we were told that we had it under control, there were only 13 cases, etc. No worries.

Then we were told to drink bleach.

Quoted from jfh:

I give up. You are unreachable. Stay safe.

Not everyone is afraid of Covid.

Some of us are willing to live life and catch it.

I’m in that group. Look at how I got yelled at for running OUTDOORS in a marathon.

I eat healthy, I exercise, I take vitamins and I’m triple vaccinated. I’m doing everything I’m supposed to in order to remain healthy. I won’t lock myself down…that’s not healthy.

Quoted from Mikala:

I believe you have posted this more than once, so let’s talk about the science deniers.
I caught Covid back in July from my vaccinated wife. (Her vaccine obviously didn’t work, when “THEY” told us it would.) My only symptom was a fever that lasted 10 days. I’ll give credit to the CDC on the 10 day recommended quarantine. It makes sense because my fever lasted exactly 10 days.
Now the science.
The SCIENTIST in Israel claim I am 27x more protected from Covid than a vaccinated person.
The SCIENTIST at Pfizer claim I am 7x more protected from Covid than a vaccinated person and don’t recommend that you take the jab if you have natural immunity. In all fairness, they recommend you have an antibody test 7-9 months later, then consider a jab.
My wife and I both believe that we had the new variant the first week of December. We both had colds that lasted about 7 days after our family Thanksgiving. More than half of the people in attendance had the same symptoms that week.
So I ask you, with the scientific proof I provided above, who are the science deniers? The problem is that all of you vaxer’s only get seem to get your information from one source, and that is continually obvious from the “fact” articles you post. It is truly dumbfounded how many of you actually believe the stoke and fear put into you by CNN, MSNBC and the NYT. OBTW, most of us do not subscribe to the New York Times, so stop posting propaganda that we can’t read.
Lastly, and most importantly, I have been reading thru this thread since August, and I don’t believe the topic of natural immunity has ever been brought up. I am, like millions others in this country, naturally immune.

FYI Vaccine induced immunity IS natural immunity. What you mean is infection induced immunity.

This is your infection induced immunity (and non boosted doses of various vaccines) vs omicron.

Tl:dr minimal protection vs omicron

"New York Hospital FIRES 1,400 Unvaccinated Nurses, Sends Singing Nurses To White House"

Just because you quote a Right Wing website (National file), which by the way, is a blog, not a news site, doesn’t mean you were accurate.

It wasn’t 1400 nurses, it was 1400 employees. That represents less than 2% of their workforce. So it’s a 98.2% survival of employment rate.

Quoted from BrianJ1337:

apparently just scare them over a virus with a 99.6% survival rate.

Normally you seem fine with numbers in the upper 90s. So I’d assume this was no big deal to you.

Quoted from JoeJet:

Its interesting how not many people that hate the politics of Florida never mention age when discussing Florida vs. other states.

*raises hand*

Quoted from Oaken:

“Surely it’s just because Florida has more elderly than everyone else”
Ok, let’s roll the tape:
https://www.kff.org/policy-watch/covid-19-deaths-among-older-adults-during-the-delta-surge-were-higher-in-states-with-lower-vaccination-rates/

[quoted image]

Quoted from JoeJet:

CDC just cut the quarantine in half. This thing is endemic and great news this new variant is not as bad. Hopefully once we get through these next few weeks we will really turn the corner.

Still not clear the amount of “not bad”. A lot of the apparent “not badness” is due to breakthroughs. How not as bad is it for the unvaccinated and never infected? Even if it is 1/10th as bad, hospitals are still in trouble. Exponential growth is a b.

Quoted from BrianJ1337:

American Liberty and individualism is what we should be fighting for not Pharma companies to mass vax the planet.
You may not see it but I'm fighting for you and your rights every day friend.

Nobody has been forced to take the vaccination. It is always the individuals right to decide whether to take it or not. So what are you fighting for?

What comes to the vaccine efficacy, I was diagnosed with a colon cancer ten years ago. Doctor told me that surgery has 80% possibility to remove it once and for all. Did I refuse the operation because it was not 100% ? No, and that's why I am still writing this.

Sure, the vaccine is "leaky" and the truth is many vaccinated people get hospitalized, intensive care or even die. But compared to numbers of non-vaccinated in same situations, it is very clear that the vaccines work, and they work well.

Also it is true that vaccinated people can spread covid. But their viral load is much smaller than the unvaccinated so the spread is lesser, especially with proper (FFP2/N95) masks.

It is sad that the non vaccinated people are usually the ones that also refuse wearing masks, and the vaccinated mask wearing majority has to suffer because of rules, that are needed because of the small but loud minority.

Quoted from BrianJ1337:

The hospitals are overwhelmed or understaffed for firing unvaccinated healthcare workers?
Sure are a lot of states firing nurses and then asking the government for staffing assistance 2 months later.. Weird.
"New York Hospital FIRES 1,400 Unvaccinated Nurses, Sends Singing Nurses To White House"
"NYC Faces Lowest Nursing Staff Numbers in Almost 2 Years, 1 in 60 Tests Positive for Virus"
"Samaritan Health requesting nursing assistance from National Guard"
"New York moves to address nursing shortage"
It's almost like if you fire thousands of people from the janitors to nurses and doctors for not taking a vaccine that you may find your hospitals getting overwhelmed one would think no?

1400 unvaccinated employees. Not nurses. Do you think all 76,000 of their employees are nurses?

I mean, yes I agree that this hasn’t helped, but you take a kernel of truth and slather it in so much baloney all the time. It is quite frustrating.

Here, the grand total amongst the doctors and nurses fired was under 1%. A LOT more than that have quit due to burnout. Even if they hadn’t, adding back less than 1% of the doctors and nurses would not have made a sufficient dent in our current hospitalization issues.

To put it another way, we have had three fed teams in the state. Those are a drop in the bucket to what we need, and approximate the number of fired nurses and doctors.

Burnout and abuse is a FAR bigger problem. Lately especially the abuse. We have had family friends who need to be escorted to their cars by security because of harassment in the parking lot. My wife now has to wear a panic button at all times while at work because of threats.

There's only one state where you can run a marathon with Mickey Mouse, so if that's your biggest passion in life, I would guess it's a no-brainer.

My issue wasn't the 1400 (wasn't debating that number) but that you were saying it was 1400 nurses, which it wasn't.

Now, to look at this another way from your linked article, there are thousands of nursing home employees that have refused vaccination. Do you think it is a good idea to allow those that work with the most vulnerable group to remain unvaccinated? The group with by far the highest death toll and hospitalization rates? We shouldn't do everything in our power to protect them? That's a high cost you are demanding the extremely vulnerable to pay on your behalf.

#28122 2 years ago

which would you want ? A healthcare worker/Doctor/nurse who
smokes but tells you to quit smoking
is fat but tells you to diet
isnt vaccinated but deals with the public in a hospital.
I wouldnt want an unvaccinated Doctor to give me covid when im in for a simple surgery much less pass it to other health care professionals or patients. The 1st two cant hurt anyone but themselves. These Doctors/Nurses are they cowering in fear of a shot.

FFS, who are you arguing with, yourself?

Nobody is denying any of this. It's also 18 months old. Original mRNA vaccines were ~95% effective at blocking infections IN THE TRIALS. Variants changed the game. It's only by luck that vaccines are still keeping most people out of the hospital and morgue. If the vaccines weren't working at all there would be no room in the hospitals for all the unvaccinated.

People are absolutely being forced and coerced to take the vaccination.

I have a note from HR that one of my employees is not vaccinated, and as such is required to have a negative COVID test less than 3 days old at all times to be present on government property (where he works). I work in an industry that cannot and never will be remote. So now twice a week he has to get a brain swab in order to stay employed and feed his family. On top of this, he has to pay for the tests, which are not cheap.

I drove by a drive through testing center on the way to work this morning as I always do... There were over 200 cars in line... So now he must waste 8 hours of his week every week waiting in line, pay an outrageous sum for testing... and then still wear a mask to work for a vaccine that will not protect others.

This is the price of working and doing business with the federal government. And you know what, it is raising the price to do business with the government. Recruiting is harder than ever and people are leaving their work to support the private sector where the government has less ability to enforce this garbage. This results in lower quality workers demanding higher pay, ultimately providing an inferior product to the tax payer all to make some do gooder feel better.

I have 2 vaccine shots, but it was by choice. I would encourage you to get a shot. I would never enforce it. I see the real world consequences of this outside of the medical field. Shame.

Quoted from cottonm4:

It’s not the flu. I’m 6 days in with Covid. All I can muster the strength to do is get up to use the toilet and microwave water make hot tea. Or make another alka-seltzer to make the constant chills go away.
All I do is curl up in fetal position, pull the covers over my head and cacoon.
It is not painful. But I am on my butt with no stamina. I have been able to drive myself to the VA but afterwords all I feel like doing is coming home and cocoon.
I have no appetite and have lost 4 lbs.
When I see on TV that airlines are cancelling flights in droves due to staff shortages, I get it. I’m no pilot but I have spent some time in the cockpit and understand there is no way a pilot could do his job with this stuff raking his body.
I have no trouble with breathing but my lungs are still full of this stuff.
Tomorrow I will go to VA and get an IV and get two drugs IV’d in. They are Casirivimab and Imdevimab ( perhaps Doc Gizzard is familiar with them).
Am I glad I am vaccinated? I’ll let you all figure that for yourself.
For the record, I am 70, not obese, don’t smoke and use little alcohol. I am in as good health as 70 yo can be.
Now I am back under the covers.

Sorry to hear about your illness. Keep yourself well. And an early Happy New Year to you and hoping you feel better soon.

Pfizer’s CEO just a few months ago. 100%!

The trials were unmasked 3 months into it. The data was never properly analyzed when it comes to vaccine approvals. We can thank Operation warp speed for that.

Asking someone to get the Covid19 vaccine is the same as asking people not to smoke inside your work, doctors office or restaurant. You can similarly be fined or fired for doing so. Its a "public health" emergency which is very very different than "personal health" issue.

Why doesn't he just get vaccinated?

In this particular case, said person (dude) has had diagnosed myocarditis. The type you are supposed to consult a doctor about before getting a vaccine. Dude is a military veteran. Dude had severe chest pains a few years ago before the start of COVID, went to his VA hospital, and was diagnosed with Myocarditis. Fine... he should qualify for a medical waiver right? Well, the VA has been slammed like everyone else for the past few months and he cannot get an appointment with the doctor that diagnosed his myocarditis nor anyone else that will release his medical records and sign off that he did indeed have this episode and should qualify for a waiver.

So... individual freely admits that covid is an issue and is not arguing with anyone about it. However, he has a diagnosed condition that is likely to be aggravated by the vaccine, and if so could be fatal. Man cannot get appointment with VA before vaccine deadline. I sympathize with him 100%.

Everyone who wants one has been able to get a vaccine by now. My employee is an example of someone the system is absolutely pooping on in an attempt to get vaccination numbers up.

Try to keep up here... this is a rapidly evolving pandemic. Serious question: do you still have a dial phone? I thought so.

That was last APRIL.... Delta was not even a variant of concern until May 2021. We're at omicron. The WHO has tracked 100s of variants, 5 variants of concern in the past year. Anything over 6 weeks old needs to be carefully evaluated to make sure it's still relevant.

Are you arguing that what the Pfizer CEO said wasn't true? It was. It MAY have been relevant at the time given that South Africa was dealing with some of the earliest variants. Again, that data is too old to be relevant in the world of Delta and Omicron.

don’t consume more than 4,000 IU of vitamin D without your doctor’s permission. It exceeds the safe upper limits of intake and is not linked to more health benefits

Even though toxicity is unlikely if you keep your daily intake levels below 10,000 IU per day and avoid excessively high intakes of vitamin D supplements, experts recommend that people with typical vitamin D levels do not exceed 4,000 IU of vitamin D per day

Quoted from ForceFlow:

April was a lifetime ago...and two major variant mutations ago.

Oh? We're back to this again?

And also that particular tweet was in reference to a small study in SA specifically looking at the efficacy of the vaccine against a new variant down there at the time. The intent was to say “hey our vaccine works against this new variant as well with no drop off”.

That variant has subsequently died off as it couldn’t compete against the dominant strains.

So yeah, taking an old statement out of context, again.

Quoted from Mr68:

Thanks. My normal dosage of vitamin D is 10,000 IU each day, now bumped up to 50,000 IU for the next three days. Also 50 mg of Zinc along with 500 mg Quercetin. I'll get there.

Making for some very expensive pee right there.

There is plenty of clips and articles of everyone from the president to the CDC saying "get vaccinated you won't get sick or go to the hospital", "you won't spread covid if you're vaccinated" etc. Were they lying? Hard to say but they were dead wrong on almost all of it. Now you expect me to take a vaccine that was created with a variant in mind that was 10 variants ago? Do i need to get the first two + a booster to be up to speed or is it just the booster for me?.. Seriously listen to yourselves I'm not moving any goalposts I'm just recognizing when they're moved.
