Quoted from Trekkie1978:

See, there’s one really major thing missing in the headlines. Remember, everyone posting it is blaming no masks in schools for the 4 teachers.
https://www.browardschools.com/cms/lib/FL01803656/Centricity/Domain/4/2021-22%20School%20Calendar%20color%20FINAL.pdf
School has been out since June 9 and doesn’t start back up until August 18.
Context means a hell of a lot, don’t some of you think?
Can we all agree that these 4 teachers had absolutely nothing to do with children not wearing masks in school? Seriously, why is the news going out of their way to insinuate they caught this at school in the headlines…..

Or...perhaps it's noteworthy that 4 teachers died, highly impacting their community at a vulnerable time, *before* school even started. It's a cautionary tale, not some gotcha media moment.

That’s an interesting takeaway. I haven’t seen anybody try to blame it on unmasked students or even infer that was the issue - since it’s summer vacation and all.

It's pretty clear that the “context” was adults who should know better (teachers!) making poor decisions about their own health care to the detriment of themselves and their community, which now needs to find some new teachers.

Seriously, you really need to start actually reading what you are responding to and stop the knee jerk reaction based on your preconceived bias of what MUST be going on.

To be fair, we all need to do this… there is an awful lot of it going on in this thread.

Quoted from PantherCityPins:

Me thinks you leap to conclusions.
Did you even read the headline? It says nothing about their deaths being due to kids without masks. In fact the very first line of the article says “a week before school is set to begin, four educators…”. Not only that, the article itself mainly talks about vaccination and doesn’t even mention masks in schools until the end of the article. Even then it says the school board had voted to require masks in defiance of the governors order so what’s your point??
You say “everyone posting it is blaming no masks in schools for the four teachers.” In fact McLovin (who posted the article) doesn’t mention masks AT ALL in his post and neither does ANYONE else responding to that post except YOU. It’s really laughable if it weren’t so frustrating.
Death from COVID usually takes several weeks from diagnosis. So these four people probably were diagnosed back in late July or early August.
Seriously, you really need to start actually reading what you are responding to and stop the knee jerk reaction based on your preconceived bias of what MUST be going on.

First line of the article….not the headline.

Why does the headline even mention 4 teachers when school is out for summer??

Why is this even news?

Why even have a headline that reads “4 teachers in Florida school system die from covid”???

Quoted from kvan99:

You need to get off that Facebook conspiracy group....the headline is not insinuating that, 90% of the people know when the school year starts so I don't think the writer was trying to pull anything. 3 teachers and a school volunteer are dead because they were unvaccinated. Full stop.
your next post should be:
Fb is not a news source
Fb is not a news source
fb is not a news source
fb is not a news source
fb is not a news source x100

That headline wasn’t for you. You live down there and know when the school dates are.

That headline was 100% the press attacking Desantis on a national level.

This is why I stay away from stories…because most of them are just fiction. I stick with data.

Can anyone explain the purpose of the article titled “4 Florida teachers die on same day”?

#24607 2 years ago

Spotted in Delhi, at what looks like a Hyundai dealership. An unfortunate mistake?

Quoted from JoeJet:

But will you die? If the goal now is to "never get sick" then regardless of vaccination we will be wearing masks indoors for the rest of our lives.

That’s called a straw man argument. I never set that as a goal, you are just trying to establish a fake position to argue against something.

Because if they're already fucking dying before school starts then things are going to get a hell of a lot worse when they have to go back to school and are surrounded by kids all day and their governor is trying to keep them from being able to enforce masking while kids under 12 are 0% vaccinated.

Here's what happens after school starts and masks are "optional"

Literally first line of the article:

"The week before classes begin, three educators in Broward County, Florida, have died within about 24 hours of each other from Covid-19 related complications, local education officials said."

NO WHERE in that statement does it say they were exposed by kids without masks.

Are you seriously just trolling now or what??

My kids went all last year and they had two outbreaks in their school, one was a kid that sat in his class. Luckily the numbers were WAY lower then.

Delta is definitely much more contagious as I didn’t know anyone to get sick from alpha in a whole year but maybe one and now I know a ton of personal friends (7-8?) sick (vaccinated and unvaccinated) and recovered from delta.

And Yes, the ones who got it the worst were mostly unvaccinated (for whatever sick bastards that see this makes you happy, you’re welcome), but some of my vaccinated friends actually had it worse than others who weren’t. It all comes down to age, weight and other things I’m seeing in my personal circle.

luckily all my friends who wound up in the ER have all recovered now and doing well but this virus is nasty no way around it.

Quoted from BrianJ1337:

I didn't write the article... Hard to ascertain the truth these days it seems.

Not "the" truth. "Your" truth. Analogies are not facts.

Fact is, vaccines protect you and the people around you. Whereas being unvaccinated turns your body into a nice little meat-factory of harmful mutating proteins expelled with every breath.

The end.

Well, there goes the baby sitter. Now mom, whose unemployment benefits were cut, has to take off work to look after the kids, again.

Quoted from DaveH:

Well let’s see if we can ascertain some truth about it. A highly contagious respiratory virus is actively getting people sick. We have a miraculous vaccine that does very well, and gives you a much better outcome if you catch this virus. We unfortunately have a variant that has about 1000 times the viral load, which makes the vaccinated able to spread it if they catch it. Masks (physical barriers) used correctly help a lot. If you wear one, you’re less likely to get sick. If everybody wears one, everyone is less likely to get sick. If you are around someone who has this virus for a long time in an enclosed space, you will catch it, mask or not. Distance makes it harder to spread. Not being around people makes it even harder to spread. It can be asymptotic, or can make you sick, very sick, or kill you. It’s a good idea to do everything you can to not catch it. The only person you can rely on to protect you is you.
Well that wasn’t hard at all. In fact, it was almost simple. It seems that this highly contagious virus acts just like a contagious virus.

That is the best summary ive ever read about whats going on. Thank you!

I am a big Arnold fan and he really hit it out of the park on this recent interview.

Tell my why vaccinated have to mask up again? Oh yea, you also are a meat-factory of harmful mutating proteins that expels with every breath.

Facts are facts. Not “my truth”, I only operate off of available data and sadly much of it is constantly tampered with and even then it shows that you’re just as likely to spread it as an unvaccinated person (hence the strict order for vaccinated to mask back up) and the fact that people are still dying with covid while vaccinated (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/investigation-of-novel-sars-cov-2-variant-variant-of-concern-20201201) in the UK means the vaccines aren’t nearly as effective as we hoped sadly.

Make sure you get your booster even though it looks like lambda dodges them for now, I’m sure they’ll whip a new cocktail up in the lab for it shortly.

I’m fortunate I have natural immunity after catching it last year.

If 4 people in 1 family, all in the same house died. That’s a newsworthy article.

When did Freedom become Freedumb?

I think it might have started around 2002, when I saw "freedom Fries" on a diner menu...but still it took a while to get to this point.

THe word has less meaning than it ever has in my lifetime. Just another dumb buzzword that's used to justify abhorrent behavior.

Are you asking why 3 or 4 school teachers, from the same school district, dying from Covid right before school is scheduled to start in that district - in a state where the Governor threatened to halt people's pay if they mandated masking and other mitigation efforts inside the schools to protect teachers and students from becoming infected with a highly infectious airborne virus is newsworthy? While hospitals are filling to capacity across the Southeast before school even starts? How is that not newsworthy?

I don't know, maybe because Ashton and Mila's bathing habits story was already taken?

Because it is news??

Let me spell it out AGAIN.

Four educators died in one county a week before school starts in a state where the governor has taken a COVID denying, mask denying stance and has signed an executive order stating that schools cannot mandate masks. So, we have the largest COVID surge in the nation coupled with a governor who has presidential aspirations and is watching his state drown in a sea of COVID while he continues to prevent local governments from taking actions to stem the tide.

Seems pretty F-ing newsworthy to me. You just don't like anything that goes against your set in stone worldview. I get it. That's fine, go on about your day. Just stop posting BS and trying to argue against things no one has said. It's called a straw man argument and that's all you seem to make.

#24631 2 years ago

I'll make this brief.
If you don't live in Florida, you get right and left views of DeSantis. You aren't really hearing a great deal.

If you don't think masks are needed for children, my son in law is in behavioral Pediatrics at Orlando Hospital and working on this since the start.
Covid delta variation is NOT harmless to children, period.
Feel free to believe different. But why would you risk it?

The scary part for me is knowing people would easily be willing to have the government throw unvaccinated people into camps all for a virus with a 99.6% survival rate. Some of you act like you would fight against something so egregious but don't kid yourselves most of the vaccinated would cheer to see unvaccinated loaded up and shipped off so you can have your "perfect healthy society".

“Fascism, Nazism, Communism and Socialism are only superficial variations of the same monstrous theme — collectivism.”

I never thought I would see people so willing to give up everything and chastise their neighbors for not wanting to participate in a medical experiment like this, collectivism is scary stuff.

#24634 2 years ago

How black of a heart do you have to constantly rail against basic safety precautions that will save lives? It's not like you've showed any empathy for all the people sick and dying or the businesses that are hurt by the unvaccinated.

"He said screw your freedom! He hates my freedom!"

Damn, man. What do you think freedom is? Where do you think it comes from? Civilization is an agreement to live together and not kill each other, steal each other's things, etc. Now we're living with a virus which turns unvaccinated people's exhaled air into weapons which can kill or cause long-term suffering.

Ignoring that, "because freedom", is like opening the nearest window on a space station to let the oxygen out.

Arnold basically said, "Newp, we're gonna close that window. Your freedom ends at the point when it begins to destroy freedom."

Why do that when you can misrepresent to bolster a narrative.

This thread now just has all of the logical fallacies of a Facebook argument. Martyring, purposefully ignoring facts, cherry picking, goalpost moving, "I'm just asking questions," red herrings, burden of proof, on and on. It's useless.

It won't make a difference until it affects some people directly.

If you want to see a pandemic success story, watch this short documentary on Dorothy Oliver. She runs a small store in a tiny town in Alabama and helped her 400 member community get 96% vaccinated, including 100% of those over 65. Inspiring.

I may be wrong, and feel free to correct me if so, but if you are a degreed Constitutional Scholar feel free to provide a link to your credentials in order to continue this stupid tangent before Founding Father crap and Biblical passages inevitably arrive.

Civilization, and the Constitution it is based upon, only exists because we agree to live together peacefully, more-or-less.

Civics 101. Without your neighbors and community standing in cooperation, you got no rights, no matter what piece of paper you're waving around.

We're connected, ya dig? This democracy thing isn't happening in a vacuum. And neither is the air you're sharing.

We all have the save chance at spreading it vaccinated or unvaccinated. If the vaccines stopped the spread than sure, I would be all for it but keep in mind these are new technology and we don’t know how they are going to work long term and sadly if lolks
