Quoted from Tuukka:

This thread is giving the impression that US is the only part of the world suffering from corona virus.

There's just a larger number of US participants in the thread. If you have details on what's happening in your area, feel free to share.

Quoted from Tuukka:

People are going to talk about what they're experiencing, and most of us are from the U.S.. Feel free to share your experiences.

So many thread ejects haha. Go play some pinball people.

Quoted from toastbot:

Honestly, we can learn a lot from folks in other countries that are farther along in the progression of the virus compared to the CONUS.

Quoted from cottonm4:

Apparently, this preacher missed that part in the Bible where you are not supposed to tempt God.

He (his name is Pastor Spell - makes the story all that more entertaining) has that under control:

"Throughout the service parishioners could be seen touching each other and closely gathering, very few wearing masks or gloves.

Spell says if anyone in his congregation contracts covid-19 he will heal them through God.

“I’m going to address that by laying hands on them and praying for them and depending on God to heal their body,” Spell said"

Alright. Danny is the first in the line of celebrities that is sure to develop. It is amazing who people will glom onto as their advisors.

Arnold Schwarzenegger has posted a few videos so far. But to be fair, not only is he a big celebrity, he is also a former state governor.

Al Pacino was also on CNN this morning with a similar statement.

You know, most of the back and forth shit said here wouldn’t be said to someone’s face. If it were, some might be missing teeth or blood.

Quoted from CrazyLevi:

The media are heroes and they have saved this country from the bullshit and lies of others.

Most are partisan political hacks and only choose to cover stories that fit their narrative, fox news included. You shared a video earlier of Schwarzenegger talking about the true heroes, stick with that.

I am a true independent. Our media is terrible. I watch all three major news outlets, (In alphabetical order) CNN, FOX, and MSNBC. It is criminal what all are doing right now. First weekend of major national restrictions and there were barely any informative pieces about the actual science of the disease and/or epidemics. CNN did replay their Town Hall with Fauci over and over, but it was older news and questions. FOX did have a great piece hosted by Harris Faulkner last night about this history of epidemics and pandemics. MSNBC was most criminal with the AM Joy shows being nothing but a total Trump bashfest. The only science they mentioned was selectively used to Trump bash.

Thank you Oaken for posting this article which explains the science behind why this virus is different than others.
https://www.theatlantic.com/science/archive/2020/03/biography-new-coronavirus/608338/

The media should be educating the public, not inflaming emotions. Hatred for our nation’s leadership runs deeper than their care for their fellow human. It’s sick.

On a pinball note, I had a pretty decent game on LOTR last night, destroyed the ring, got three gifts from the elves and was about to start TABA when I drained ball 3. Ooooooh, I was not happy....

#1963 4 years ago

I’ve been playing a lot of Andromeda lately, and I’m pretty sure she created this virus:

Thanks! I’m doing ok, our clinic has shifted to sick visits only. I’m expecting a surge in patients this week or early next week here in Texas.

Everything I’ve been reading is saying this week is when it is really going to get bad, stay safe and best wishes.

Who else has had issues with streaming services? We tried multiple viewing venues this weekend and at most went about 20 minutes before interruption.
We even reduced our viewing to 1080 SD!

It is being said the next generation born because of all the people staying home right now will be called "Coronials".

I’m employed in the construction field..my work has insisted that when working, that all employees wear ppe (gloves and respirator) when entering a site. Although I’ve been on ‘standby’ I haven’t worked since Wednesday. And just read that gloves don’t protect from virus, as compared to not wearing anything. Gloves can carry it just as easy..so I’m confused, and kinda glad I’m at home w my dog..

#1971 4 years ago
Quoted from hwyhed:

To clarify: gloves will efficiently prevent the virus from reaching your skin. But the gloves won't kill the virus (no idea how long it will survive on this surface). So if you touch your head, scratch rub your eyes with your gloves, you may well become infected.

The solution would be NOT to touch your face, but this is extremely hard to do over a full day work. You would need to take a break often to change gloves.

Also note that *removing* latex gloves (without running ANY risk of contamination) is not as simple as it seems.

Someone made a joke about stern shifting MFG to ventilators.

That would be awesome but what about the $279 dollar UV light kit. (Seriously)

I imagine they planned on using this tech for future releases and have/had a supply line on UV light kits.

Could those lights be repurposed for use in hospital or ambulance environments for sterilization between patients?

I am a true independent. Our media is terrible.

Try apnews.com for associated press releases. I find them very non-partisan and they are my favorite source of news.
I also like the BBC and Reuters. For reading, try a mix of the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal. It keeps me balanced.

Thanks Chad, I was just going to go look for info on proper glove removal.

Quoted from Tuukka:

This thread is giving the impression that US is the only part of the world suffering from corona virus.

I've been interested how little coverage there is of India. At least in the US media, the international COVID19 coverage seems largely focused on East Asia and Europe. India's got the population and population density issues of China, but more crushing poverty, and a much weaker national government (hard to compete with China on centralized control, of course, for better and for worse). Seems like it will hit India very hard, if it isn't already, though the younger population might help keep the death rate down.

Sold my LOTR to get JJP POTC. I miss it, but glad to have made the switch. Pinball certainly does separate one from the world, at least momentarily.

Any time you are in town Doc, beers and pinball are on me.

They also deal with malaria, and use the one of the drugs currently being used to treat the virus as a prophylaxis to prevent malaria. But, India is not a real travel hot spot for China so there is also that. Not sure how many people from India visit China though. A good friend of mine has been to China several times, but he lives in the US full time now, not India.

#1991 4 years ago
Quoted from Tuukka:

Not the intent at all. I’m sure. I for one am sympathetic and empathetic to where this is happening all over the world. Especially Italy.

#1992 4 years ago
Quoted from CrazyLevi:

I really don’t know why this is all happening.
Is it the 2 months of denial / “this is no big deal” we were subjected to from so many sources before we started taking this seriously?
Is it 250 years of “don’t tread on me” culture that has defiance built into the American psyche?
Are we simply dumber than ever? (I’m sure this gets a lot of votes)
I really have no idea. All I know is we look like a nation of Fn morons and it’s quite embarrassing and depressing. I’m losing faith that people will behave. It seriously might take military intervention.

We aren't alone. There is a reason much of Europe is being enveloped by this as well. Not taking it seriously and pretending its business as usual.

Stupidity and recklessness seems to be a common denominator, particularly amongst youth worldwide (although I do think ours tend to be even more selfish and entitled).

Unfortunately, for many, they can't take things seriously until it's right in their face or they are a loved one becomes ill.

Just opening my Pinball Life order received Saturday. In the garage. With gloves on. And Lysol.

I’m serving it right now by defending the constitution.

The biggest truth bomb I've seen dropped in a while. Hoo-boy! That's a zinger, folks. You don't have to submit your free will to the military to serve your country. I respect that people want to help out in that way, but I can't possibly respect what's been done with that resource, and to those volunteers (and forced conscripts..) over the last 50-60 years.

Considering this happened, I'd say they are f'd.

Sorry about that. The virus is global, and I did not mean to say that anybody is exaggerating that.
I hope all the best to everyone - after all most of the infections are non fatal. Take care of yourselves and your loved ones.
