Must’ve really done a number on you.
sad...[quoted image]
You know what else is sad?
3,000 dead people in Florida. Covid is really doing a number on the sunshine state lately. And many others.
They reopened too early and too sloppy. Oklahoma is another one. So many states had a huge early advantage over places like New York, and they completely squandered it due to putting politics over human life.
My Coronavirus observation:
1) You Tube finally turned on its ad machine full time to make grab for its new always-at-home audience.
2) There are are a lot of paywalls.
Anyone else pack on some extra pounds during the pandemic? I've gained 5lbs and have been trying to keep it at that. Yeah...I just ate a 48oz container of Superman ice cream today so that probably doesn't help lol.
We are about to have hospitals bursting at the seams, while Abbott tells us that the bodies piled on the side of the road are nothing to worry about because there are still a few empty ICU beds in Dimebox, TX.

Yeah we were baking constantly, my weight swung up 12 pounds! I've since mostly reeled it back, just 4 pounds away from normal. Good news is that I've perfected my cookie recipe while also taking my first ever milky way picture during all this.

Each and every country has a different way of reporting Covid related deaths.
A more important indicator would be how many more TOTAL reported deaths there have been - in relation to the average TOTAL expected deaths.
The link above points to those figures for a number of countries, and details the anomalies due to different areas being at different points of the spread, and figures for different time periods being used.
For those too lazy to click the link and read the data for themselves, some highlighted countries:
UK 43% more deaths than expected if Covid hadn't occurred.
Belgium 37%
France 25%
Ecuador 108%
Germany 4%
Italy 40%
Japan 0.3%
Netherlands 30%
Spain 50%
Sweden 24%
USA 16% it mentions that figures vary wildly amongst states, but doesn't give a breakdown.
South Africa 9% LOWER than expected. Possibly due to lockdown measures reducing crime?
As this plays out more, figures will come more inline with each other and comparisons will more readily be able to be made - until then people are trying to compare apples with oranges.

In this day and age it is neither real, nor not real...
Like Schrödinger's Cat being dead, or not.
ie. it could be both/either, up until the point where it is definitely not. Depends what dimension/reality ....

The cases are rising, but to me it doesn't seem like the deaths are rising, which is great news. Am I looking at the data correctly? Have we gained some immunity to the virus and because more people have caught it they can't catch it again and things are "better" now than in March? I would have thought the death rate would have been spiking as well but that doesn't seem to be happening. I am a little confused, but liking that the deaths are not rising.
Would there happen to be any glasses wearers in here who can recommend a face mask that doesn't completely suck? All I'm looking for is a mask that 1. is black (or at least isn't white), 2. doesn't constantly fog up my glasses, and 3. doesn't yank my ears off (since I sort of need them to hold my glasses on). Apparently that's akin to finding the Holy Grail.

There have been a few tips and tricks shared in this thread. For example:
1) make sure the metal bendy part is tight on the bridge of your nose
2) place your glasses a little farther down on your nose over the mask
3) try wiping your glasses down with an anti fogger. For instance, shaving cream
4) try swimmer nose pincher thingies over mask

Give it 3-5 weeks.
Also deaths does not equal death rate (case fatality rate). CFR should hold steady at around 4-6% while total deaths keep climbing

Deaths lag behind cases an additional 1-2 weeks at least. People don't die from it right away as soon as they catch it. Don't worry deaths will go up very very soon.
If sounds like some of you are packing on the dreaded COVID - 19 (lbs)
I’ve managed to do ok. I think mostly because I’m still not eating out as much as before. Still mostly having lunch at home, and more often than not dinner whereas I used to eat out 3X a day.

Sorry. They are not black. But they have the small metal strip that you can bend and form to fit your nose which will keep from fogging your glasses. You can put them on and take them off without have to remove your glasses. I wear glasses; I speak from experience.
I don't care what color they are or are not. I am not trying to make fashion statement.

No, not really.
Deaths ARE rising, in over a dozen states, compared to a few weeks ago.
Cases are up. Deaths are up in many states.
America has failed to rise to the challenge, unlike many other countries who took it seriously and had a cohesive plan. And we are paying the price and will continue to pay the price. If we'd just done it the right way we'd ALL be coming out of it now, instead of it getting better in some places (New York) and worse in other places (Florida, Oklahoma, etc).
This is an opinion piece but it's built around the facts of COIVD trends in the U.S.:
Quoted from gweempose:That seems pretty hypocritical that the casinos can open with slot machines but not the arcades.
Casino's generate a lot more tax revenue than arcades. I'm guessing that has something to do with it.

Okay, play it nice and slow... if there is not a cord or wire on that box then it Breaks too many laws of physics, alot, in the way it Instantly and Dramatically changes its Axis of Rotation and Direction of Rotation, and Basic Direction. It spontaneously for no obvious reason spins in the opposite direction, when it's a metre off the ground. Watch Very closely, quarter speed is slow enough
Yes it is real as in Not CGI (if it is, then Very poorly executed), but the box does not defy physics, it is tethered. Not loose.
The guys theory is there in part, draughting certainly does appear to help with the box entering all the way back into the truck, but in reality the forces he speaks of are not strong enough alone to do this on its own, once the box is accelerating away from the truck and metres back away from it. Note the shadow. The box behavior is un-natural for a loose box. The behaviour Is natural considering a Tethered box.
The guy has proven, in the segment you time stamped at least, that he is not a credible science dude. For one thing, not once did he show the the clip in slow motion (only a couple of pointless still frames), nor did he raise the inconsistencies displayed in the video around momentum.
It is good that screaminr posted that vid, and that you highlighted this fake science, it is an example of how so much of what is out there in the way of Subjective Opinion just serves to confuse so many people. Physics isn't always so simple.
Actually, people attempting to simplify physics (which is Not Simple) is a big contributor to so much confusion around it. Misinformation and faulty analysis.
If you're looking for some Good science guidance with basis around practical realities, there's this for fun Ha ha
Alcohol can make a$$holes out of people. They don't need the hassle. Or having to land because of some problem drunk.
I got updated on the care center mom is at. Remember, this is in a top notch facility of about 40 residents in Orange County and in a city that has publicly shown very few infections so far.
Residents were tested on June 11. Seven additional residents tested positive for a total of 10. Nine workers tested positive. Mom still tests negative.

It's pretty ridiculous. If casinos are open so too should arcades and such.
Quoted from Gryszzz:I hear ya. Before the hipsters began opening breweries on every corner, Moosehead and St. Pauli Girl were the "craft beers". Pepperidge Farm remembers.

I hope they give us two weeks notice before sending us back out into the real world. I think we'll all need the time to become ourselves again. And by "ourselves" I mean losing 10 pounds, cutting our hair and get used to not drinking at 9:00 a.m.
New monthly budget: Gas $0 Entertainment $0 Clothes $0 Groceries $2,799.
Breaking News: Wearing a mask inside your home is now highly recommended. Not so much to stop COVI-19, but to stop eating.
We low maintenance chicks are having our moment right now. We don't have nails to fill and paint, roots to dye, eyelashes to re-mink, and are thrilled not to have to get dressed every day. I have been training for this moment my entire life!
When this quarantine is over, let's not tell some people.
I stepped on my scale this morning. It said "Please practice social distancing. Only one person at a time."
Not to brag, but I haven't been late to anything in over 3 weeks.
It may take a village to raise a child but I swear it takes a vineyard to home school one.
I wanted zombies and anarchy. Instead we got working from home and toilet paper shortages. Worst Apocalypse Ever!
You know those car commercials where its the only vehicle on the road - doesn't seem so unrealistic these days.
They can open things up next month. I'm staying in until July to see what happens to you all first.
Day 27: The garbage man placed an AA flyer on my recycling bin.
The spread of Covid-19 is based on two things:
1. How dense the population is.
2. How dense the population is.
Appropriate analogy: "The curve is flattening we can start lifting restrictions now" = "The parachute has slowed our rate of descent, we can take it off now".
Never in a million years could I have imagined I would go up to a bank teller wearing a mask and ask for money.
Okay the schools are closed. So do we drop the kids off at the teacher's house or what?
Remember when we were little and we had underwear that had the days of the week on them? Yah .. that would be helpful about now.
For the second part of this quarantine do we have to stay with the same family or will they relocate us? Asking for myself...
Coronavirus has turned us all into dogs. We wander around the house looking for food. We get told "No" if we get too close to strangers and we get really excited about going for walks and car rides.
The dumbest thing I've ever bought was a 2020 planner.
There's a lot of truth to these for sure! Stay healthy,
