Quoted from swampfire:

All I see is snowflakes getting triggered because they found a woman on TV that’s smarter than them.

Anyone who doesn't find humor in this mornings postings is a serious stick in the mud. Its been awhile since i have laughed this hard! I would hate to be some of you people for real lol.

Looks like staying at home is beginning to get under some peoples skin. Please respect each other and keep this a nice place to visit.

Pinside is full of good people and if anything was honestly said with hatred everybody would plile on top of them .

Just some good ol' boy locker room talk

Exactly!

Quoted from toddsolus:

This good ole boy humor just doesn't have a place in this thread. It IS offensive to some and could be curtailed. I don't think that it's so much of a strain on your personal freedoms to be respectful when you are asked to...maybe you really don't understand why, but you can see it's bothering people. So why make it a rights issue and just stick to the subject of the thread. CORONA virus.

I'll spit some beechnut to that

I'm 37 and feeling old as shit right now.

So I am going to feign resentment.

Grrr. How dare you.

Pinsider's being overly sensitive about risque humor.

Not risqué, just stupid. “Haha, this woman has short hair and she looks like a boy, haha if you like her you’re gay”. It’s not homophobic, just dumb 4th-grade behavior. Maybe stick to jokes about farts and poop.

Coronavirus Testing Needs to Triple Before the U.S. Can Reopen, Experts Say
https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/04/17/us/coronavirus-testing-states.html

"As some governors consider easing social distancing restrictions, new estimates by researchers at Harvard University suggest that the United States cannot safely reopen unless it conducts more than three times the number of coronavirus tests it is currently administering over the next month.

An average of 146,000 people per day have been tested for the coronavirus nationally so far this month, according to the COVID Tracking Project, which on Friday reported 3.6 million total tests across the country. To reopen the United States by mid-May, the number of daily tests performed between now and then should be 500,000 to 700,000, according to the Harvard estimates.

That level of testing is necessary to identify the majority of people who are infected and isolate them from people who are healthy, according to the researchers. About 20 percent of those tested so far were positive for the virus, a rate that the researchers say is too high."

Mind you, this is not a locker room. Anyway, topic is corona, not sexual orientation or hair length.

Results of Wisconsin being unable to postpone their election[quoted image]

That bonehead decision likely cost my State a few weeks or longer. The lesson learned is that every election needs to be mail-in ballots only until Covid is no longer a threat.

Some people using charged terms like "snowflakes" in order to circumvent the rules about not talking politics.

Attention: "snowflakes" = "liberals"

As I scrolled through the pics of the boy with glasses, I came upon this post and thought chad was referring to those. This stay-at-home is getting to me.
Philosphical question: if a guy thinks Rachel Maddow is hot, does that make him gay?

Not gay at all, I was thinking you were comparing the character to the news commentator, for which I got a laugh and hence the thumbs up for the post/picture....

My good friend and sole proprietor of his business was given the run around and ultimately missed the boat getting money to stay in business.
All these stories of, not so small ,businesses taking the money Until it was all gone ... https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/davidmack/coronavirus-small-business-loans-big-companies-potbelly
Buzz feed not my favorite source, but there are lots of stories like these coming out now.

So you can be offended by anyone saying anything racist Except if it's being racist against people you don't think it counts against , talk about double standards , if you don't believe in being racist to people you can't be racist to anyone

Quoted from phil-lee:

By the way GRZZ, I apologize if I have pissed you off. I'm not normally an asshole but this current mess sure brings out the worst. No excuses, hope you are hacking out happiness.

No apology necessary man. We butted heads over a year ago over some religious differences. Then I realized I'm a grown man and I don't have to believe what you do, but I should respect your right to believe what you want.
About 10 pages ago you said something that kinda pissed me off and I responded by posting a few anti-Jesus memes. I removed them after posting them. I thought they were funny, but also a low-blow. Trying harder to "be nice".
Weird times man, weird times.
Cheers bud.

Also, I have a soft spot for residents of NC. We lived in Raleigh and Cary for 5 years, and they were some of the best years of my life.

Back to Coronavirus.

30% of random street sample test positive in Massachusetts.

https://www.foxnews.com/science/third-blood-samples-massachusetts-study-coronavirus

I think everyone's going to get this thing... it just won't effect most people that much. It sucks for the people it effects though.

Hold on... so when someone calls out people who are constantly coming back to the same hateful well for their water, they’re not supposed to say anything? They’re supposed to remain silent?
You want my definition of political correctness? It is silence in the face of status quo phobic undercurrents.

What's the definition of "virtue-signalling" again?

Chelsea isn’t really a good representation of population. It’s a very small city that is roughly two square miles that is densely populated. It is a very diverse community with a large population of immigrants. A lot of people are forced to work jobs despite the quarantine and often live in crowded housing.

So it seems the virus is 50-85 times as prevalent as previously thought: https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2020.04.14.20062463v1

I guess that means the mortality is 1/50th or 1/85th of previous estimates. Maybe you can slightly loosen the grip of your fear.

ETA summary snippet:

"The population prevalence of SARS-CoV-2 antibodies in Santa Clara County implies that the infection is much more widespread than indicated by the number of confirmed cases. Population prevalence estimates can now be used to calibrate epidemic and mortality projections."

I guess another Fantasy Omelet might be in order then.

They also have great pancakes.

But I think I'll have the Huevos Rancheros. Like they say when in Rome...

Right, it’s less deadly than seasonal flu.
