Quoted from cait001:

I never thought someone would look into the face of mass incarceration and reply with "Yeah but china is doing it too" as the proud response.

Sorry, you win, I'm not going to debate anymore. I was responding to your comparison that you linked to, and never said the "they are doing it to". I don't make my points that way.

Anyways, since this is a containment thread. Here is a picture of my new containment for Corona, Coke, Coors, etc...It's a 1956 CMD

I got it off of Craig's List and my Father-in-Law did the restore. He owns 2 business, a body shop and a sheet metal shop.

Who is, has, or will gain the most from this outbreak?

Bill Gates is smiling big.

Did public health officials mislead us? ‘Coronavirus is not a major threat for the people in United States, and this is not something the citizens should be worried about,’ Dr. Fauci said on January 21

You missed the 3 minute propaganda video.

Anthony Fauci and Deborah Birx are they only people I want to hear from. Politicians will always be politicians.

2M distancing in Toronto

Besides someone close to me in the hospital on the mend right now, I've enjoyed seeing this state as close as I remember it to what it was like in my childhood.

Once this virus is gone, I declare every March and April as the official shut down the world months from now on.

Should help offset that baby powder ordeal.

Quoted from goingincirclez:

"A single dispenser" isn't the issue. But as a representative symbol, it points to frivolous marketing and spending way beyond a receptionists desk. Medical professionals can be educated without having office supplies paid for. If that's all we see, where does it actually end? The issue is one of suspicion.
And to your question: when Microsoft handed out watches with the Windows logo I gave mine away. So no, I'm not a fan of corporate graft, kickbacks, and corruption, that have only served to put so much of the country at unnecessary risk for the reward of a select few.
My point was directed at a larger issue than you personally doc, so don't take it the wrong way.

I’m not taking this personally, I just feel like the medical community is under a constant microscope and people in this country seem to want to jump to crazy conspiracy theory conclusions when it comes to the medical industry.

I guess my position is borne out of me doing my job every day.

Yes, drug reps come to my office (at least they used to before coronavirus), yes they leave pens and notepads. Yes, they sometimes bring lunch to the office in exchange for 15 minutes of my time so they can go over the latest study on their drug that was published.

No, a logo on a tape dispenser or a pen doesn’t affect my therapeutic decision with a patient.

The thing you have to understand is that drug reps do serve a purpose. Not every doctor is reading journals every day. Sometimes a drug rep bringing a new study for a doctor to review is the way that doctor improves their practice.

I guess if people consider a ball point pen a kickback then more power to them. All I’m saying is the executive trips to resorts to play golf and have a “team meeting” are the realm of the corporate world.

Medicine is one of the most regulated industries out there.

This is like the 3rd or 4th time one of you guys has posted this exact same story here over the past week. Give it a rest. Fauci has never mislead the public, and the information he's given us has been consistently updated for the public good, not for PR reasons. There's a reason he is at 85 percent favorable, despite the constant attacks from a small, biased, and loud few.

There was an amazing NY Times piece written this weekend that lays out who was offering warnings, and who was ignoring them, and who has been willfully misleading the public even though the up to date information they were receiving didn't match what they were telling us. Feel free to read it since you are so clearly concerned with who spent the last couple of months feeding us bad information.

I didn't post it for obvious reasons, reflecting the new rules we are supposed to abide by in this thread regarding looking backwards and pointing fingers.

If team Fauci Smear could exercise the same restraint it would be appreciated.

That headline is two words too long. It's been that way for much longer than this whole thing has been going on.

Quoted from PantherCityPins:

I guess my position is borne out of me doing my job every day.

I hear that.

Like all auto technicians don't know what they are doing and all want to rip you off.

And when you finally get to the one that does know what he is doing, you've already spent so much money on the problem, he should be able to figure it out and fix it for next to nothing.

I'll be the first to say, in every line of work, there are those that should not be doing what they are doing.

I will never say everyone in my line of work has ethics, and is not just thinking about the bottom line.

But at least we, by law, have to give some kind of price estimate of services ahead of time. Even for just running a test.

Thanks, I really didn't ever think about getting one until I saw it on Craig's list. Got it for 300 bucks. It was rusty and sparked when plugged in. The wife wouldn't let me put in the game room in the condition I bought it. I called up a person who restores them in Ventura, and he told me that it wasn't worth restoring as coca cola coolers weren't worth it, he would rather restore coke machines. He also said that the resale value would not match the restoration cost and wouldn't even give me a quote. I guess it would be like restoring a Gilligan's Island vs. a Medieval Madness in the coke restoration world.

So, it hit me. I asked my Father-in-law who loves to restore cars if he was interested in a project. He never did a coke cooler, but said he would give it a go. He finished it on Saturday. Here is the back

[quoted image]
That's my favorite example. I remember seeing those all over the hospital I was working at, at the time. A custom-tooled taped dispenser?! That didn't come cheap!
Over 15 years ago I was questioning how much money pharmacos were spending to influence prescriptions and spending. Personally I'd rather they lower prices and quit tooling stupid vanity office products.
And I'm sure for every tape dispenser and stitch-branded golf bag, etc I saw, there were nice lunches and free samples and other psychological influences I didn't. Kickbacks don't necessarily mean salary, but anything that influences a prescription. "Here, try some samples of this stuff, they don't cost me anything, let me know if it works..."

1). 15 years was a long time ago. A lot has changed.

2). If you think tape dispensers are expensive, wait until you see the cost of a 30 second tv ad. And that entire budget was and is just a small part of the overall cost of a drug. Insulin didn’t go from $15 to $150 a vial because they gave every doc in America a pen.

3). The appearance of unethical behavior is precisely why all that stuff is now shut down by pretty much every ethics department everywhere.

My assumption initially before I looked was besides numbers being up because of the pandemic, this burial method is normally used.

The remains of more than one million people are buried on Hart Island, though since the first decade of the 21st century, there are fewer than 1,500 burials a year.

Over 1 million buried there. Hard to believe.

The pharmaceutical industry is one if not the most heavily regulated in the country and world.

Pens, pads, tape dispensers, etc are relics of a bygone era. Those companies haven't given that stuff away in over a decade.

For a different view from Dr. SHIVA Ayyadurai, MIT PhD

This isn't a different view, it's a different reality. SPOILER ALERT - At the 2:54 mark, a direct quote: "So if you look at someone like Fauci he's a guy who architected the big lie that HIV is responsible for AIDS".

I can't imagine what you saw in this video that inspired you to share it with others...I'd advise googling "propaganda" and spend some time there sorting things out

Direct Deposit. Completed my taxes early this Year, and I'm poor. May have made a difference.

If I've learned anything from all this, it is that is safer to eat a Fantasy burger or omelet, or even a Filet O Fish during a pandemic, than a live bat or snake prior to one.

That is all.

Just came across this - NIH is looking for people who 'think they had' COVID for a study. May be a way to confirm suspicions: https://www.nih.gov/news-events/news-releases/nih-begins-study-quantify-undetected-cases-coronavirus-infection . There is an email address for requesting to be a part of the study - they want 10,000 participants.

Speaking of clowns, we were discussing yesterday opening a pinball arcade when this is all over and calling it a church, thus avoiding paying any taxes.

Its looking more and more all the time that iceman44 was right about the coronavirus all along. I think a lot of people are going to be eating crow and owe him an apology when this is all said and done.

Iceman is quite a character and he loves to get under peoples skin but like him or not he is one smart SOB!
