Quoted from roffels:Our store's issue is our main distributor is limiting how many pallets we receive and toilet paper takes up a lot of space.
We normally only get one truck of non perishable grocery's a night. Now we've are getting or regular shipment. Comes in around 8pm and have been getting a second truck coming in around 8 am the next day. Second truck will have more TP and lot and lots of water. Our second truck is never a full load so we could get in more stuff if they shipped it.

I hope not, but you may be right. Some of the big cities are getting ravaged.
It's pretty hot where I live (95 degrees today), so I hope that slows down a lot.
Quoted from c508:That does it, I am buying one of these. I have never liked propane grills. . .
Quoted from swampfire:I bought the Mannix soundtrack, noW I need to hunt that down and watch it tonight.
Mike Connors was a Fresno native. Fresno has a large Armenian population and his real name was Krekor Ohanian. (Had to look it up)
When I was in college I worked at a movie theater. Every Tuesday was a cheap matinee day, and this little old lady would always come in. I tore tickets and she would love to strike up a conversation. She would tell me about her brother, and how proud she was of Mike Connors "Mannix". She would always start off the conversation reminding me that Mike Connors was not his real name. She was a very sweet lady and she would just sit there talking my ear off. So when I read this interest about the show, I just automatically think of his sister. I don't even remember her name, I would just refer to her as "Mannix's sister" when she walked in to watch her beam.
If this is even close to true.. Yikes!

Objectively, I love and hate it at the same time... it was a wholly indefensible, cynical, incomprehensibly space-wasting pile even in its day. Today, it's an anachronism which is why I put up with it. Plus, it rides soooooo buttery "what garbage infrastructure?" smooth. And it has FOUR cigar lighters, ha! Oh, and I adore the color scheme on this one, which actually ends up being really rare for these cars.
Despite its many faults, it's all original with 82K miles and people really seem to enjoy seeing it.

Because I'm an effing moron, I actually got it running just before the Great Recession, when gas spiked to $4+ a gallon. Filled up the tank for a C-note and barely made it from Frankfort to Louisville and back because I hadn't yet figured out how to tune its abortion of a carburetor. Eye-opening, indeed...
I've since had it as high as 16mpg in ideal conditions. Typical around town is all of.... 8, at best.
Your Mark IV is a beauty. I liked everything about mine but the gas mileage. Built like a tank. They were.

It's a beauty. It makes me think of the movie "Casino"

Jeez. AFA to learn. But FIB is a good one.
Quoted from Jaybird815:A California boy buyin Wisconsin cheese?
The best cheese I ever got to taste was Government Issue. I don't know was making that stuff for Uncle Sam but it was good.

You need to try more cheeses.
Quoted from cottonm4:You still driving one of those 20th Century dinosaurs? I use to have a Mark V. Loved everything about it but the gas mileage.
I used to drive to Dallas all the time. It cost me $70-$80 round trip for gas. Then I got a Honda Civic. $18.00 round trip. It was an eye opener.
I love my 20th Century dinosaur! 1970 Plymouth road runner...I’ve owned it since 1997 and not once did I ever care about the gas mileage!!!

I think it’s because all the news has slowed. We’re reaching the point where the social distancing has flattened the curve. Now we just need to figure out what the next step is. I don’t exactly know what it is but it’s some form of significant testing capacity and vector tracing.
I’m going to reshare this. It gives a good overview from the ex-head of the FDA on how we start opening things back up without creating a second wave.

I'm not so sure we have flattened the curve yet. We are still seeing 25%-30% exponential growth in deaths in my county day over day right now.
In fact, the official State of PA web site tally has us at 16, but the local newspaper is reporting we are up to 29 now. The virus is starting to take hold in many of the local retirement homes, which is most likely going to get a lot worse until they get a handle on it.
Two interesting animations showing how far a sneeze travels in a store and near someone running:

From riding my bike, I see things slowly tightening around here. Day by day, beaches are closed, walk paths are closed. My eyes tell me there is no way CA is opening up on May 1. Most people seem to be more friendly when you see them. People wave to me constantly while riding my bike. Before there would be an occasional wave, now people acknowledge more often than not. I'm used to seeing hot looking women exercising. Now most smile, wave, or say hi. Way more courtesy than normal. I like it alot. My mom was named the most courteous person in our town a few times.
There’s a retirement home here in Ontario. It’s in a small rural community called bobcaygeon. 28 of the 65 residents have passed away in the last week. Nursing homes in the province are letting families remove their parents without loosing their position at the home so they can come back quickly once the virus has passed

My wife received a email to print off from her work. It says that she’s an essential worker....my guess is that road blocks will eventually be erected and you’ll need a good reason to pass through.

I’ve also noticed this while out with the dog.

Sweet ride! I dated a girl in high school who had a 71 roadrunner. Unfortunately it had a little 318 in it instead of the 440 6 pack I thought it would.

Are you feeding your starter? Equal parts water and flour daily? (4oz flour, 4 oz water)
Here's ours after 2 days. Bubbles up nicely and already reaks of yeast. Wife says after 5 days it will be ready to use

Quoted from phil-lee:The Twilight Zone (New) on CBS All Access didn't do much for me, though only watched a few episodes.
I don't remember the "F" word in any of the other versions, this will one day really Date this iteration.
Free 30 days, just wanted to catch up on Picard. First couple of Episodes were brilliant, then went into
a black hole.
Gonna cancel tomorrow.
Good move. Picard was horrible. Wanted to like it, but it's lame this and that stuff on the Android girl is beyond annoying. Can't believe they renewed it.

Does the sound drop off some shows for you? Its weird, some shows play perfect, other the sound quits after a minute or so.
Yeah, like Jean Luc but just couldn't get attached to the rest of the cast. The scenes with Data were good. I understand Whoopie is coming back.

Quoted from Oaken:Seems a bit early to be ending any kind of testing support, but here we are:
https://www.npr.org/sections/coronavirus-live-updates/2020/04/08/829955099/federal-support-for-coronavirus-testing-sites-end-as-peak-nears
Sounds like the plan was to transition to some other testing but that’s not in place yet. Weird they would stop. Everything says to get Country open again you need massive testing and contact tracing.
From the beginning I've tried to adhere to the stay at home orders and social distancing protocol because that's kind of my life anyway, but I do have to keep myself entertained.
I finished three books this week. That's a lot of coloring.

Quoted from rkahr:Here's the nationwide Gasbuddy.com map of prices.
Doesn't the state of Illinois stick out in the middle of the country, with every surrounding state showing lower gas prices?
Gotta love the taxes they pile on at every level (state/county/city) here in Illinois.
Quoted from Blitzburgh99:I don’t think she can save the show....
No but she can destroy it that's for sure.
Took a break to get some work done, shop a few of my games, get some things done around the house, ponder life.
I couldn't fathom reading the 100+ pages since I was last on, but glad to see everybody still hotdoggin.

Someone in China ate a bat and then 10% of the US was laid off. There, you're caught up!
This article raises some chilling points I hadn't really considered until now.
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/09/world/coronavirus-equipment-rich-poor.html
For poorer countries, Dr. Boehme said the competition for resources is potentially a “global catastrophe,” as a once-coherent supply chain has rapidly devolved into an arm-twisting exercise. Leaders of “every country” are personally calling manufacturing chief executives to demand first-in-line access to vital supplies. Some governments have even offered to send private jets.
In Brazil, Amilcar Tanuri cannot offer private jets. Dr. Tanuri runs public laboratories at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, half of which are “stuck doing nothing,” instead of testing health workers, because he said the chemical reagents he needs are being routed to wealthier countries.
“If you don’t have reliable tests, you are blind,” he said. “This is the beginning of the epidemic curve so I’m very concerned about the public health system here being overwhelmed very fast.”
How soon do you think the pre-Covid "connected world" of unfettered globetrotting will return once this is over? When will it *actually* be over? Half the globe might remain an untested, untreated hotspot even by the time a vaccine trial shows promise in privileged countries. The potential implications are hard to fathom right now.
