Charlton Heston taking out sick zombies.

Quoted from PantherCityPins:

Wow, I didn’t realize the stance he took and how very wrong he was. This is the kind of thing that will seriously jeopardize his TV career.

I'm not sure, Dr. Oz and Dr. Phil made tonnes of money regardless of their ethics or track records.

I recommend reading the Richard Matheson novel. It is very short and has a very different gaze than any of the film versions.

I am Legend.......the whole title comes from the "mutants" that he is indiscriminately killing because he refuses to get on board.

Here’s an interesting path forward from the ex-head of the FDA. It’s one of the more thoughtful plans I’ve seen.

Quoted from Zablon:

I generally like Dr. Drew, but yea he was way off on this one.

And he apologized the other day and said he was wrong. Sometimes people get it wrong. It’s the people that don’t admit they were wrong and double down on their wrongness that piss people off.

I was listening to Howard Stern the other day and he discussed why he tries to keep his show from getting to political. A caller claimed he doesn’t call out Trump enough on a lot of what he says in his briefings. He made a good point when he said it would be like yelling at a shark for eating people. Hey shark, stop eating people that go in the water. Sharks going to do what a sharks going to do. A shark can’t help what he is and can’t change his behavior.

It's a bad analogy...especially when compared to the person running the country.

The point was that nothing will change the behavior.

#8118 4 years ago

Calling somewhat out on bad behavior shouldn't be avoided because "they are just being themselves" I would say Howard stern is more concerned about alienating a segment of his audience then anything else...but.....whatdoIknow

Quoted from ForceFlow:

Could you clarify that please as I see it ripe for abuse. Some people believe opinion articles from legitimate sources is news. And some recognized reporters and organizations blur the line.

Quoted from Mr68:

Obviously, there is a wide range of news sources out there, and some will resulted in divided opinions. We're not going to police that too hard. Most people here sincerely just want to share the news that they have read.

Most of the time, mainstream sites reporting the news will be fine. Legitimate science links will be fine. Our aim is not to necessarily engage in fact checking and validating every single thing that is posted or linked to.

The main point is to limit the political debates and arguments. That said, links that contain incredibly obvious inflammatory content or content that serves nothing else than to trigger a political debate will be frowned upon.

Probably 90% of the links posted in the thread so far have been acceptable.

If you really want a moderator's input before posting, you are welcome to start a moderator feedback thread.

Quoted from Wickerman2:

Never seen his medical records, but in terms of behavior:
“ Boris Johnson said he was shaking hands with coronavirus patients just weeks before he tested positive for Covid-19. The prime minister confirmed he had entered self-isolation on Friday 27 March. Early this month, he insisted that people would be 'pleased to know' that the virus would not stop him greeting hospital patients with a handshake”

I hope anyone he passed it on to as a result of his misguided and irresponsible behavior doesn’t die.

His pregnant girlfriend, his health minister and at least a couple other cabinet members. Hopefully they’ll not go south.

I finished the worst part of my quarantine deck staining project. No more tall ladders after this part. Don’t you love it when your spouse comes over and says “that ladder isn’t safe like that”, but then walks away without offering to hold it?

My positive Covid thought of da day

I tend to err on the side of caution in my career and in life. If I’m wrong about the trajectory of coronavirus and it’s LESS bad than I think it will be, great! Hundreds of thousands of people stay healthy. Hooray! If you’re cavalier about this thing and you’re wrong, especially if you are a media personality like Dr. Drew, then you have to live with the possibility that some people got sick or died because of your mistake. That’s a horrible thing to consider.

There's footage of Doctor Oz taken on a lot of the same days as the Dr. Drew footage, saying way crazier things. In one he's out on the streets and actually pointing to people wearing PPE and practically accusing them of witchcraft, as if they're all crazy, saying flu this and flu that (essentially saying the same things as Dr. Drew while making examples of those concerned to his vast Oprah-sized audience). I can get a link, Force slipped in on me. The footage is owned by TMZ.

Lovely. Now we won’t be able to get groceries without waiting in a line outside. Really? How about everyone just stays 6’ away from me. Better yet, 20’? I’m not a big fan of masks for everyone, but I’d succumb to the idea to squelch this idea. Now I won’t want to go to the grocery. What’s next?

Our local guy resigned because he refuses to not have religious service:

https://www.toacorn.com/articles/mccoy-resigns-from-city-council/

Now he will continue to bring large groups of people together. It's pure insanity but this is what we're up against in the year 2020. I just don't get it. I guess I can look forward to cases spiking in our area now.
