Can we all do gameroom posts here now? Sounds like a great way to close out a Monday

#5552 3 years ago
Quoted from Daditude:

I had my identity stolen a few years ago. They stole my tax return and opened some credit cards...who knows what else?
I have been desperately trying to get unemployment, but all the offices are closed, they don't answer ANY calls (despite me trying hundreds of times...yes...hundreds), and I can't get through online because it says my SS # has already been used.
I'm hoping it is just a web glitch, but it could be scammers again.
My wife and I both lost our jobs, and we have 3 kids and a mortgage. We desperately need to get unemployment.

This sucks! Yeah my wife is getting a few days next week. We filed tor this week. We saved up to not have the stress if something bad happened. That's one good thing we learned from factory auto parts work. No buys cars we are out of a job! I hope you can get this problem solved.

Quoted from o-din:

How come I'm so happy then?

It’s sad that the tested positive numbers are that high not ur amount of post. Keep ur post coming o-din. I admire ur take on things. Might not agree with a few of them but I can agree they give me a chuckle. I mean a lizard under ur pillow. huh? but awesome all the same.

Btw The Noisy Crickets makes a great band name : )

I envy the guys that can afford 30 pins.

Quoted from o-din:

How come I'm so happy then? Remember, most of this whole time, including now, I'm getting paid to do this.
In fact, they are paying me even more now.

Maybe there is something in that o-din.

#5556 3 years ago

I just got my unemployment packet and now it says I have to look for work, as opposed to the e-mail last week that said I didn't.

So which is it? What do they want me to do?

And why check or debit card? Haven't they heard of direct deposit?

I guess I'll get my shoes on and start pounding the pavement knocking on every door I can.

I envy those guys that can just say no after 5 pins. Once you start calling your rooms, the Bally room, the Williams room, the DMD room, the work room, the parts room it's all over.

They aren't called pins dude, they are called "tables".

Quoted from Gryszzz:

Our house has a weird layout cause it was built by a plumber. Power washing the circle driveway up top takes me 2 days, so I've been putting off this little porch for years. Didn't realize how having it nice and clean would make me so damn happy. This is my downstairs porch/smokers lounge.
Only took me about 90 min too.
Dad's happy!

Have you tried the cleaners that you spray on with a garden hose and leave it for a while? I have had good luck with those making the concrete white again with very little time or effort.

#5565 3 years ago

To me, this is the saddest part about this whole thing.

This stuff works great and keeps the crud away for a long time.

If you are going to pressure wash a large driveway, I recommend getting one of those circular attachments. It saves a lot of time and water.

There’s dozens of equally sad things.

This really sucks ass. In a bunch of ways.

But hey I set this up today and it rules.

Quoted from Daditude:

Between that and the issues with filing for unemployment, I am definitely feeling down.

I took a temp job with unemployment processing claims in 2009 when the economy and my normal career nosedived. Back then we were swamped and working 6 days a week 11 hour shifts. I can’t imagine how they are going to keep up with 10x that many claims filed now. Expect massive delays for awhile. Make sure you follow directions very carefully. One slip up and your claim gets kicked to a secondary group called the exception list. You don’t want your claim to be kicked to the exception list. That’s where claims go to die in times like this.

Quoted from o-din:

I just got my unemployment packet and now it says I have to look for work, as opposed to the e-mail last week that said I didn't.

It takes time to change the computer program to make it O.K. to NOT look for work. If you put that you did NOT look for work and they have not updated the computer system, it will kick your claim to the exception list. For the love of all that is good and holy, I would strongly suggest you mark that you looked for work. You will not get punished for looking for work. Hopefully they will have it fixed by now to not flag it. Hopefully.

As far as the debit card, that was implemented a few months after I started and it was a PITA to implement. It was implemented because Bank of America offered their services free of charge to the State of California. It saved the state a bunch of money in paper, printing, and postage fees. Bank of America did this out of the kindness of their heart.
Or it could have been the fact that B of A got ahold of billions of dollars of unemployed Californians money interest free. Bonus was they had millions of new customers and all their private information to market their products and 3rd party products to. Did California sell Californians out, you may ask? Yes. Yes they did.

Thanks, and the pics don't even show off all the art. I have like 70 marquees, 8 backglasses, 7 playfields on the wall.
By this summer it will be in an even improved state, as a few machines are out for repairs with friends.

“ A prominent New York neurosurgeon who developed a procedure for separating twins conjoined at the skull died Monday from complications of COVID-19, the disease associated with coronavirus, officials said.

Dr. James Goodrich was the director of pediatric neurosurgery at Montefiore Mecial Center, in the Bronx, and a professor of clinical neurosurgery at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

He gained fame in 2016 after leading a team of dozens of doctors in a 27-hour procedure that separated 13-month-old twins, Jadon and Anias McDonald, whose skulls and brains were fused.”

People can get paid more on unemployment now than they made for the simple reason that the government chose the simplest and easiest policy to implement. Normally there are calculations to try to give a weekly benefit amount that closely matches a persons weekly take home after taxes when they still got a paycheck. They calculate the amount based on your income spanning the last full 18 months. It’s complex, but it calculates a weekly benefit amount as well as how many weeks you are entitled to get that weekly benefit amount before it runs out.

This benefit is capped at $450 per week and 26 weeks for (EDIT: California) and varies from state to state. The government realizes in times like these that cap is too low. However, it would take a total reprogramming of all the states’ computer systems to adjust the amounts relative to your earnings. Instead they are just adding EDIT: $600 on top of your weekly benefit. EDIT:(In California for instance) The guy normally getting the max $450/week will get $1050/week. The guy normally getting $150/week will get $750/week.

That is why poor people who didn’t make shit, (like Odin, sorry) will get more money under unemployment then they ever made while working.

Now that i have a nice well seasoned base, it is time to make the sauce. Or add the sauce and let it simmer while I get the noodles ready.

If you guys would rather wait to see the final product, I can do that too.

And they probably won't need a bailout to do it.

Don’t forget that the US made good $ on the GM bailout. I still won’t buy their cars though. My first new car was a Pontiac and I became a permanent “nope” on GM cars when my friend closed the door and pulled off the armrest, shrugged, handed it to me and said “um...here, sorry”.

Unless they changed it, it was stated as $600 a week plus regular unemployment. The $600 wasn't pulled out of thin air. It is based on the $15.00 an hour minimum wage some are trying to push.
