My brother and I went on Saturday and it was a great show! So grateful to be only a 3hr drive away.
Loved all the space and not being jammed in so close to others. Love the venue, easy parking, everyone was nice and polite, pretty easy going vibe. All the latest games I haven't been able to play was fantastic.
It was funny walking into the entrance to pay and seeing just the EMs and not much else with the door closed to what was the main room, I was thinking WTF. And then they said there were three rooms. Cool, went to the second room and had more games, but none of the latest and oddly lined up along the walls with a huge empty area in the middle. Was still wondering if maybe they didn't get enough support. Someone clarified the reason for the wall placement was power related, so that makes sense now. So, on to room number three and, ding, ding ding, the awesomeness revealed itself!
Kudos to the vendors that brought the latest games. Without them it would not have been as awesome for sure. Marco puts on a great booth area with numerous games to play. Even built a backdrop for Godzilla to look like tall buildings with simulated flames. I noticed they were made from a stack of pallets with a Stern pinball box on top with a building graphic. Nice touch!
Also, noticed that having the Stern Insider connectivity available adds one more thing for vendors to deal with to connect them to routers and such. Nice extra effort that wasn't really essential.
One other small but nice touch was at closing time. They went around about 10 minutes before and told everyone. But, instead of just shutting off the power at the stroke of midnight mid-game, they just turned them off when they weren't being played and let people finish their game. Seemed like most people respected it and just finished and left as expected. There was even a little girl at the Marco games turning them off and she stood by us as we were finishing up so she could do her official duty. She was so cute doing that.
Also, wanted to mention that the games were running great and when one would go down it wasn't long before the crew were on it and getting it back up again. Saw it several times.
Great job and many thanks to everyone that does all the hard work so we have a great show to go to! Next year can't get here soon enough.
