I was around when both came out of the box in our arcade. I personally prefer Hyperball's play. I found Rapid Fire was a lot tougher to do well at being the invaders moving down thing as opposed to finding and nailing the next lightning bolt. The speed was just about right for my abilities at the time.

As I recall, Hyperball also earned better than Rapid Fire did so the general public also must have preferred it too.

If you think F-14 Tomcat is an adrenaline pumping game, just wait until you put a few games on Hyperball!

Funny,. I would have thought it easier to find a replacement plate than to find someone to heliarc weld some aluminum on a Saturday. Its probably 10X stronger than it originally was.
