Quoted from PinMonk:

There are WAY TOO MANY games already coming in the next 12 months. Adding 5 would be suicide. In rough order:
1. Munsters Prem (still to ship)
2. BK3000/Steve Ritchie Pin
3. Oktoberfest
4. Willy Wonka
5. Jurassic World
6. Elvira 3
7. Guns n Roses
8. Kingpin (2019?)
9. Jaws
10. Sherlock Holmes (or one of the 3 other AP pins)
11. Stern Vault (Tron?)
12. A new Spooky Pin
13. Toy Story
If you add 5 deeproot pins at once, that's 18 games in 12 months. WAY TOO MANY for the market to support. 12 in 12 months is too many. 6 in 12 months is more like it, and even that's a lot. With economic conditions heading down, there is a cull coming.

Added 14 days ago: I forgot Elvira 3...

Added 14 days ago: Or maybe I didn't...

Yeah, but you know (historically speaking) 3/4 of them are not going to be anything to write home about.

Sure, but if it's 3/4 of 6 or so a year, that means you only seriously consider 1 or 2. If there's 12-18 in the next 12 months, that's at least 4 pins that warrant serious consideration - WAY too many.

Back on topic...is Nightmare Before Christmas going to be at any of the west coast pinball shows this year?

We were hoping to get a new vehicle this year and drive out west this summer - but that's being pushed to next year. Everything is too damn expensive!

Happy St Patrick’s Day!

This is a great way to rack up 10s of millions of points.
Shoot an orbit shot into the pop bumpers - each bumper hit increases the jackpot by 750,000 - 18,750,000. (Shot multipliers are your friend!)

But if you don’t shoot the ramp in time to collect - you get nothing!

Be sure to watch the livestream on Tuesday to see this mode in action!

"I can't make Decisions by myself!"

Another great way to rack up the points is the mayor mode: Decisions

Shoot the mayor scoop twice to start the mode.
A roaming red arrow sweeps across the remaining 9 shots.
Try to hit the roaming shot for 10,000,000 points.
If it's too fast for you, shoot the mayor again to temporarily freeze the shot - but then only for 2,500,000.
The mode continues for 40 seconds. Plenty of time to score some really big points.
Speaking of big points - If you set up a shot multiplier beforehand, you could be making 50,000,000 points per shot.

Be sure to watch the livestream on Tuesday to see this mode in action!

Do you have the mayor's head on a servo? It would be awesome if his expression changed based on how you're playing.

Yes, happy / sad mayor. He flip flops a lot!
He’s tied to the left or right ramp return.

See further back in early pages of this thread for more.

Tune in tonight - 7pm EDT - http://twitch.tv/gammagoat

Here's a shot map you can use to go along with the rule set.

Watched a good bit of the stream. Very impressed with how far you have come.

One question, what flipper coils are you using? I noticed a lot of ramp shots that only made it half way up. Maybe something a little stronger is in order?

Overall, a very nice job!

#1216 5 years ago

I was going to make the same suggestion. I played it at expo and don’t remember that problem. Amazing machine and the layout is perfect. Hope someone pics this up soon so we can all enjoy it in our homes one day!

#1217 5 years ago

I cannot express how great this machine is. I have heard people say it is great, but I always heard great for a home brew in my head. But no, they are saying great and they mean great compared to any pin. All of the paths and diverters make that magical experience of being surprised in a joyful way of how the ball moves. Theme integration is awesome.

I was thrilled to have the honour of streaming this. I will try to get the recording edited and uploaded soon.

I’m really glad you enjoyed it. Thanks so much for all the work involved in doing the stream. And thanks to Albert, Tony, Mike and Brooklyn for playing along.

And special curses for Canadian internet providers!

If you want to see and hear the game, I recommend watching this video soon http://www.twitch.tv/gammagoat/v/398137710?sr=a&t=0s

The other video got muted and I have low confidence we will be able to keep audio, in this or any future uploads.

I rarely take the time to read through long threads but this one I absolutely did. What an incredible machine. So well thought out, some new innovative shots too. I can't imagine spending 5 years on one project - truly a labor of love! I also love the fact you implemented 3 flippers. You obviously keep fine tuning the code which shows your passion. The only thing that annoys me with homebrew games is repetitive sound clips used for common shots. Is there any way to alternate "some" of the shot audio clips? For instance a spinner can be programmed to make certain noises depending upon what mode you're in?
Anyway, again thank you for sharing with us, this machine is just absolutely incredible. This is by far my favorite homebrew game.

Thanks!
I do alternate the sounds where I can.
My spinner has 5 different sfx - mode specific.
I’m stuck with just the voices from the movie for now - no narrator yet.

I think the point would be to have a sound pool for each of them with three to eight sounds. Those only need to be slightly different for the shot to feel natural / repetition free.

I do have a bunch of sound pools.
At least 7 different versions of “what’s this?”

#1234 5 years ago

I added a new twist to the gatekeeper multiball.

Bash the target bank several times to lower it.
Shoot into the opening and the magnet grabs the ball and holds it.
Bank goes up and ball is released and sits behind the bank.
Do the dirty pool shot to knock the ball into the hole for your extra ball.

MightyGrave was visiting London, ON - all the way from Germany.
I had him over to play a few games of NBX last night.
No great scores to report, but much fun was had.
I failed to snap any pictures - maybe he can post some of the ones he took.

Back at the coding.
Fixing bugs, adding more sounds, more videos, light shows, etc.
