Is the Superpin size of the game a factor in the discussions?
Quoted from EalaDubhSidhe:Is the Superpin size of the game a factor in the discussions?
Nope, not really a problem with any of them.
Quoted from MarkInc:You know nothing, Jon Snow.
No deal in place with anyone.
Lots of interest from several manufacturers.
Theme is very popular.
Thank the maker. The theme survives.
Please go the Stallone/Rocky 1 route. The theme is part of the package. I just can't see the point without the cool theme.
Quoted from rubberducks:I think you're grossly overestimating revenue.
Several theatrical re-releases in the US have only seen $5m added to the original $70m. If it was as popular as you are claiming, I think it would have been a lot more.
You're stuck on theatrical revenue, when that's a tiny portion of the pie these days. North American (ONLY) DVD/Blu Ray is over $75 million. That doesn't count television, or ANY streaming. And the only one I couldn't find an estimate on was merchandising, but it has to be well over $100 million now, too. Disney turns at least one entire store at every park into NBC stuff every year and rethemes the haunted manstion to drive sales, plus, like I said, Japan is CRAZY about the show. They have NBC toys in Japan you can't get anywhere else in their CRANE GAMES. It's become one of Disney's most predictably profitable licenses over the years after starting as a title they didn't even support theatrically.
I have enjoyed watching this journey. The best pin I have seen. One off or commercial.
Merry Christmas!
Quoted from MarkInc:How Horrible our Christmas will be.
No, how Jolly!
Any update on turning this into a commercial game by next Halloween? Is it still a conversation in progress?
Wow this is cool! Halloween/ Christmas, makes the kids laugh this is what pinball is all about! I hope this machine blows up!
Quoted from PinMonk:Any update on turning this into a commercial game by next Halloween? Is it still a conversation in progress?
I can say “Still in progress.”
I think the only real hurdle is licensing.
Quoted from MarkInc:I can say “Still in progress.”
I think the only real hurdle is licensing.
Fingers crossed, then. Disney is pretty corporate about licensing. They'll approve a LOT of stuff you wouldn't think they would. They have a whole web page dedicated to getting people to the right department for licensing stuff, so they're more serious than most about making money from their properties:
https://www.disneystudiolicensing.com/
Of course, getting the license is only the beginning of the process. Approvals are the real headache. I really hope you get to that point, though. I'd love to see this as a commercial game.
I hope it happens. Our family watches this movie every year for Halloween and Christmas. We even have a deadly nightshade jar we keep candy in. If it happens, I'll have to make room for another pin. Looks totally awesome.
Quoted from MarkInc:Great success. Everyone loved it and it held up to kid testing!

I keep expecting a traditional translite like this...
nightmare_pin_translite_shot (resized).jpgWho knows. I’m sure it will have to change for production. Smaller screen. Speakers moved. Game title displayed when powered off. Just a few minor things.

Get this deal done ASAP! Can't wait!
This holiday season I saw more nightmare before Christmas merch for sale than I ever had before- everything from wallets/buttons to figurines to underwear.
Best of luck! You have a buyer here if it ever comes around.
Rule Adjustment Time...
Kidnap The Sandi Claws MB
- Hit the 3 targets (Lock, Shock and Barrel) to open the bathtub gate.
- Lock 3 balls up the ramp into the bathtub to start MB
Stage 1: Find Sandi Claws (2 ways)
-- 3 of 8 shots are lit (1 is Santa, 2 NOT Santa)
-- Ramp is lit to Holiday forest to find Santa in Christmastown
-- LSB are lit - complete to re-add-a-ball (max 3 balls on playfield)
-- Mystery is lit - increases JP, shuffles lit shots
-- Shoot the forest ramp to get to Christmastown (Santa) or other holidays (NOT Santa)
-- Slingshots and shots to forest advance holiday
-- Or, shoot the lit shot(s) to find Santa
-- Don't shoot electric chair without Santa - NOT SANDI CLAUS
-- Complete LSB to re-add-a-ball (max 3 balls on playfield)
Stage 2: Santa captured - bring him to Jack
-- Electric chair is lit for JP
-- LSB are lit - complete to increase JP to Super JP or again for Mega JP
-- Shoot electric chair to deliver Santa to Jack
Completed - reset and go to Stage 1
There is a ball save that starts the mode, but after that, MB ends abruptly when down to 1 ball.
What to do about restarting? (only if they failed to collect JP by taking Santa to Jack)
Ideas:
1 Mode continue with just 1 ball? If so, for how long?
2 Grace period - 15? seconds to shoot up ramp into bathtub to restart?
3 Grace period - 15? seconds to shoot LSB to add-a-ball
Suggestions?

15 second grace period to hit whatever is the harder shot there to restart, otherwise mode ends.
Quoted from scruffypinball:Planning on being at any expos this spring/summer?
Planning on going to Allentown. Not sure if bringing game.
Wish I could see this at Texas Pinball Fest. It would be a hell of a drive though.
I'm a huge NBC person and merchandise collector. This would be an instabuy.

I'd love to go to the Texas show some day - but would not love the 20 hour drive.

Pfft! You're driving to Allentown, that's 8 hours. You're practically halfway there!
Quoted from scruffypinball:What if.... deeproot announces this is one of their 5 games at TPF?!
One could dream haha
Hard to announce something we haven’t even been contacted about. While I will say that NBC is one of my dream themes, we haven’t pursued the license because of the tri-tiered costs, and we were told there would be creative frustrations. But who can say for sure?

Just having a bit of fun Robert. They make NBC underwear for Christ sakes, I’m sure those differences couldn’t be too wild.
Excited about TPF!

Yes, but do those underwear sing and show clips from the movie?

Maybe that can be a distributor give away with a NIB purchase?

If you think that's an outrageous question, you obviously haven't been to Japan.

There are WAY TOO MANY games already coming in the next 12 months. Adding 5 would be suicide. In rough order:
1. Munsters Prem (still to ship)
2. BK3000/Steve Ritchie Pin
3. Oktoberfest
4. Willy Wonka
5. Jurassic World
6. Elvira 3
7. Guns n Roses
8. Kingpin (2019?)
9. Jaws
10. Sherlock Holmes (or one of the 3 other AP pins)
11. Stern Vault (Tron?)
12. A new Spooky Pin
13. Toy Story
If you add 5 deeproot pins at once, that's 18 games in 12 months. WAY TOO MANY for the market to support. 12 in 12 months is too many. 6 in 12 months is more like it, and even that's a lot. With economic conditions heading down, there is a cull coming.
Added over 5 years ago:I forgot Elvira 3...
Added over 5 years ago:Or maybe I didn't...
If that downturn is significant and sudden enough, it may be that we end up with a two-tier market; Stern at one end in the best place to build and ship large quantities of a single title in a short time, with the monopoly on distribution; 'cult' or contract games with a limited production run that are allowed to be sleepers over a longer cycle, and NOTHING in between.
Quoted from PinMonk:There are WAY TOO MANY games already coming in the next 12 months.
I’d double that or more.

Double your 5 pins coming or double the whole list?
In either case, seems like it's going to soon be a very poor time to try to enter the pinball market.

Three JJP games in the next 12 months?
Quoted from Hammerhead:Three JJP games in the next 12 months?
Two this year and one the first part of next. It's been jack's stated goal for more than 2 years and he's getting close.

The prevailing rumor is that Toy Story is second, Guns and Roses 3rd

I've also heard the other way around. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Supposedly GnR recently got moved up to match up with their giant fall 2019 tour, and Toy Story 4 got pushed out to early 2020 for the DVD release instead of theatrical release. It's a nice change, actually, since GnR breaks up the sugar high of Wonka followed by Toy Story.
