I find the lack of ZZ Top in this thread truly disturbing.

    Quoted from Doctor6:

Why not something to get people other than white dudes to play? Problem is.... what band/group?

    The Gap Band

    #53 3 years ago

    Beastie Boys
    Slayer
    Henrdix
    Motley Crue
    Motorhead
    Sabbath
    Ozzy

I'd be happy with any of them

    #54 3 years ago

Of the listed options, I was torn between Queen and Van Halen but gave Van Halen the edge. Of the "marketable" metal bands, I still think Slayer would be pretty awesome. I'm just not 100% sure that they are quite big enough compared to the other bands that pins have been based on. Maybe Spooky will do it at some point. They mentioned the idea, a while back.

The music pins thus far all seem to be blaring from a WT Camaro driven by some hairy-chested Budweiser-swilling dude through New Jersey. Some of us were raised in cities. We didn't listen to metal.

I agree. I actually don’t have anything against hard rock or metal, but a little variety would be nice. I think a Grateful Dead pin would be super cool. It could incorporate not only Dead culture but ‘60s culture in general.

A Rock Band license would work well with pinball rules

I hope JJP is taking this approach with GNR. We don't need another jukebox pin.

    Pink Floyd

    Quoted from frosken:

    Pink Floyd (already suggested)

You press the game's start button and hear . . . "welcome to the (pinball) machine."

Not really a band but "The Blues Brothers"

So much good music and loads of classic scenes, the modes would basically write themselves:

    Go see the Penguin
    Get the band back together
    Battle the Illinois Nazis
Collect instruments from Ray's Music Exchange
The gig at Bob's Country Bunker
Promote the gig round Chicago in the Blues-mobile
Play the gig collecting enough money
    Huge car chase
    Jailhouse rock

Shame it will never happen, I’m guessing licensing the whole soundtrack and all the video assets would be a nightmare and cost a fortune!

    #63 3 years ago

I'd love a Foo Fighters pin. Maybe not broad appeal to the hobby overall, but my favorite band and they are still relevant today.

    #64 3 years ago

Not rock but, Jimmy Buffett/Margaritaville. There are enough Parrotheads to propel one song into a lifestyle brand with everything from food/beverage, beer/liquor, clothing, furniture, bar/restaurants, housing communities, resorts/casinos, and now marijuana.

It would be a band pin based on fun - margarita glasses, beaches, volcanos, sharks attacking bikini clad girls, etc.

In a recent interview Buffett said unlike perception, his fan base is growing from the children of the children of his original fans. He no longer sells music to old guys in Hawaiian shirts, he sells escapism to everyone.

    #65 3 years ago

i think, Pink Floyd, Jimmy Buffett, ZZ Top, and Grateful Dead, would all make good themes, with lots of fun things to incorporate. Gotta have the flyin pig.

    #66 3 years ago

I think a Bowie has material that would be great for a pin. Could be a great art package with Major Tom, Ziggy Stardust, Diamond Dogs . . . . Wham Bam thank you Maam!

    #67 3 years ago

Two that are missing is Motley Crew and Prince. Both would sell like hot cakes. I agree Van Halen, Def Leopard, Ozzy and Queen would do well.

Somewhere in the U.S. Southeast there's a Foo Fighters home brew. It appears at SFGE in Atlanta most years. I don't remember well but think it might be derived from Stern Rolling Stones.

So is that Dave on a stick instead of Mick? Haha

I'd love to see how it turned out if anyone has pictures.

    Daft Punk
    The Chemical Brothers
    Justice
Those are electronic music bands with some killer tracks, and it would differ from those rocks bands from the 80’s and artwork could be great. By the way some Tron music is from Daft Punk and it works in pinball!

    #71 3 years ago

    Bowie. Jimi. James Brown.

If they made a Jimmy Buffet Machine I’d self immolate in protest on the steps of Expo.

    #72 3 years ago

I busted out laughing when I saw Barry Manilow in the poll

    #73 3 years ago

    Thunder Pussy
    The Warning
    The Runaways/Joan Jett

    Chick bands Rule!

Jimmy Buffett would be awesome, instant buy

    #75 3 years ago

I think Rush, Ozzy, and Van Halen would all make good machines and be successful.

But I want Abba or Babymetal

    #76 3 years ago

Yes, I should have included ZZ Top, Scorpions, Motley Crue, Prince and Pink Floyd in the poll. I just didn't think of them at the time.
A Queensryche "Operation Mindcrime" pin would be awesome. A Nazareth pin would also rock.
I don't think anyone could get the rights for a Michael Jackson pin. Same would probably hold true for Queen.
As far as other genres: Charlie Daniels Band, Sinatra (Isn't there a home brew out there of this), Blues Brothers, Carrie Underwood (they did Dolly, so why not?)

    #77 3 years ago
    Quoted from schudel5:

Glen Campbell. How long do I have to wait?

This actually popped into my head when I was putting the poll together. Instead I went with Manilow.

    #78 3 years ago

Queen would definitely be the most popular and best game of that list. A diverse catalog of music, and Freddie's theatrics are a perfect fit for pinball.

My dream music game would be Judas Priest. Like Maiden, it would be based on the "lore" of the different songs rather than the band themselves. You'd play as the Painkiller, defending the survivors of ruined Earth from the other mechanical beasts featured on Priest album covers, like the Hellion and the Metallion. In one small nod to the actual band members, I thought of a Hell Bent for Leather mode where you race Rob on his Harley.

Lol that one lone juggalo who voted for ICP.

    #80 3 years ago

    Black Sabbath please.

Except not for me who you know loves his rock n roll in a Vet

    #82 3 years ago

Yeah Sabbath would pretty much be an insta-buy as would Prince. Would prefer an original non-licensed theme but that isn’t happening.

Wow that is spectacularly stupid. Whats City music?

    the ramones

Queen is easily the most Marketable pinball and would do well in sales if executed nicely at a fair price point.

I voted Ozzy as has he a decent chance of good sales, well known, crazy character. again, solid execution with great art, fun layout with killer audio. proper marketing and affordable price point would deliver sales that exceed Mr Alice Cooper, and not taking anything away from Spooky Pinball for delivering that music gem. buy hey even a thousand pins may not be worth it for Stern ? unless priced to the hilt !

Black Sabbath, Yes please, but it wont happen.

The one that has the greatest chance for viable sales is Megadeth, no brainer if done right with Dave Mustaine, Vic Rattlehead mascot and some of the greatest artists of the 80's-90's. Hey, One of the Big 4. We already have Metallica ........

Now, don't get me started on SLAYER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    F*ck yeah................

I actually believe Slayer could easily go Head to Head with Queen and the results would be close.

    #86 3 years ago

    Black Sabbath, please
    Ozzy solo, also very nice

Sorry, but Queen is just okay for me
I own Night at the Opera and Queens greatest hits and that’s enough
Pretty good, but IMO they’re a bit overrated (though Freddie rules!)

    #87 3 years ago

    Is Led Zeppelin really happening?
Calling Bruce first thing on Monday
    LE baby!

    #88 3 years ago

Yes Led Zep will be next................... Perhaps

I love what 'The King' SR does for Pinball and can't wait to see his next Gem.

I will throw a confusing clip in here just to bend the mid a little.

So no doubt Immigrant song will be the standout on Zepp.

I kinda liked seeing/hearing it mashed with Thor for a super cool combo.............
    One can only hope !

    #89 3 years ago

Queen, Pink Floyd not enough for me sorry, good bands but not for pins, But if had to guess PF would sell better, Rock n roll Out

    #90 3 years ago

Another one came to me- Heart

    #91 3 years ago

What happened to the Bon Jovi pin?

I'm shocked that there hasn't been a parrothead/ margaritaville pin yet. Pure gold.

I would LOVE this, but i don’t think it’s a great band for pinball.

    Floyd would be amazing.
The Wall alone screams to be made into a pinball.

Anyone else dreaming of a JJP GnR reskin to match their favorite rock pinball machine? I'm not a big enough GnR fan to be in for that machine but if it was reskinned as AC/DC.... oh my, sorry wife, we're selling one of the kids kidneys.

    #96 3 years ago

I voted for Rush....since Pink Floyd wasn't an option.

    #97 3 years ago

Personally, I'd be interested in a U2 pin.

I’m the one Styx vote. I was going to vote for Queen but changed my mind.

Second Styx vote. Not proud of it, but they do make good music suitable for pinball.
