American Pinball is just really bad at this. It might be a great game, but that's the most boring teaser trailer ever.

Quoted from LORDDREK:I disagree. Maybe to sell a steaming turd this would apply but AP didn’t need those numbers. The theme didn’t kill GTF it was everything else.
A tank body idea that felt like something born out of a soft couch a long smoking tube.
A live acting gimmick that was just necromancy of a long dead idea.
A ten year old supposedly polished layout that was anything but.
And a rollout that was botched and bungled like a Three Stooges episode.
It’s sad really. It had the best artwork and light show I have ever seen on a pinball machine. Some of the layout and shots were interesting. I wanted this game until the above bullet points changed my mind.
I think theme was definitely a big part of it. You can't tell me if this game was themed as Futurama that it wouldn't have sold better.
I think the bigger problem is that neither David Fix nor anyone else at AP didn't have the wherewithal to recognize that GTF was a bad design/idea and tell Nordman to go back to the drawing board in the early stages. It's the same thing that happened years ago with JJP and Dialed In. These designers are capable of designing a brilliant layout (although I think GTF may be one of Norman's worst designs), but they should not be the one's solely responsible for coming up with the theme ideas and the ludicrous transforming tank idea. Just because someone designed great games in the past doesn't mean that you should take their ideas as gospel. Someone needs needed to tell him that it simply wasn't good enough for a production game and move forward with better ideas/design.
Quoted from littlecammi:I spoke with JJ at Game Exchange of Colorado today by phone. David Fix told him earlier this week that AP would be showing their next new game at TPF and JJ will have one there in his suite.
Or maybe not?
It doesn't surprise me that they are still planning to show off a new game in March. The proto games are already built and they are likely trying to make things look more appealing for any potential buyers. Whether the new game ever makes it to production is the bigger question. I've been hearing rumors for months that AP has had issues with paying suppliers for parts. I'm not surprised in the least by the latest news. You can only mis-manage a company for so long before it catches up with you.
