Quoted from onemilemore:

Didn't they also shift to a classic/deluxe model setup?
On the new pin front, I am considering letting TMNT go if LOV ends up being announced - think they will be similar and APs aren't easy to find on location in these parts. We shall see.

Some distributors are selling them that way (Deluxe includes the art blades, shaker, knocker, topper and maybe magic glass all installed IIRC) but nothing I've seen actually from API indicates that was their doing, it may just be nomenclature the distributor came up with for when they order the games that way. The good news is there's no difference in gameplay or actual mechs in the game.

Quoted from FlipperFreak:

I'm not aware of any changes in production... other than continuing to better quality and not including the free shaker on Hot Wheels on the next run.

Also using Bader playfields is great. AP is s good company all around.

What does LOV stand for? It doesn’t look like an abbreviation for Sherlock Holmes so I’m scared.

Yup - the cat's pretty much out of the bag. It will be LOV

I'd like to see AP just go ahead and announce it and start shipping the new game.

#757 2 years ago

It's an assumed cat.

Like Schrödinger's cat.

From AP? Dang. Didn’t realize they were ever that cheap NIB.

Interesting, you come across as somewhat of an expert. No wonder you have bagged on AP before, you thought they were Stern/JJP prices!

Dear American Pinball.

Looking forward to your future games. American needs to focus on themes that have a Dedicated intense fandom, better to get a cult licence, than a bland licence .
Here are a few Licences I would be super excited to see.
They all have rabid fanbase's.

Van Halen.
Big Trouble In Little China.
Motörhead.
Escape From New York.
Judas Priest.
Blade Runner
Tron 1981.
Black Sabbath.
Terminator 1984.
Slayer.
Ghost, the band.
Animal House.
Buckaroo Banzai.
Blue Öyster Cult.

Don't need any family friendly themes.
Ever! Better to be edgy than bland.
Cheers.

Gremlins
Killer Klowns From Outer Space
Labyrinth
The Never Ending Story
JAWS
Waynes World
Beetle Juice
Space Balls
Coneheads
007 James Bond
Kill Bill
Total Recall
The Fifth Element

You and six other people. Seriously, if they are going to do licensed themes they should go for something way more mainstream than a this or a lot of the other recent suggestions.

I was told that game 4 is currently on the line as they get ready to ramp up to full production for the reveal. I assume that the main reveal will be at pinball expo with games available to play. There is a trade show that Aimtron will be at this week in Las Vegas called G2E - it’s possible that the game will be shown there???

Also Houdini, Oktoberfest and Hot Wheels will be getting new code updates along with the team play co-op modes.

I've gotten an invite to it. Unfortunately can't go.

It would be exciting to see a new pin there.

I know someone who has put eyes on game #4. Can't talk about it publicly, though...

Yeah. That sounds like a good time.

I’m hoping they bring some to Pincinnati! We shall see.

But you shouted on the internet?

Sure that's not public. (how to look like a goose 101)

There is not a title in the whole two lists above that i know anyone who would be 'rabid' for, and not one that i would buy. Most i don't really know what they are, and the ones i do I couldn't name a song or say i've watched/played a single minute of.

Wait, what!?!... are you referring to these two lists from above? Are you being sarcastic and this is just going over my head? If you are for real, I can't even begin to imagine not knowing any of these titles. Sure, a few a bit more obscure, especially if you are not from the U.S., but really....

Van Halen.
Big Trouble In Little China.
Motörhead.
Escape From New York.
Judas Priest.
Blade Runner

Yep i'm talking about them. I've watched and own the kill Bill movies, but who'd want a pinnie of them?

I recognise some of the bands and had BS albums as a child, but who'd want a pinnie of them?

Seen some of those movies advertised, but........

Not one name on that list would interest me or anyone i know, so i think 'rabid fan base' is totally out of touch.

No one you know would want a Jaws pin, gimme a break. Jaws would sell out in 5 minutes.

#774 2 years ago

Call me crazy but LOV wasn't the sort of game that you really had to have animations and a monitor on the backglass. It was easy enough to understand you didn't need visuals to tell the story or get throught it. I would love to see someone try and bring back DMD with these rules and sell it for 1k less undercutting the competition. With non license pins its easier to do and makes sense.

I get it punkin, you're not a Genre fan.
You should maybe go get your picture taken in front of a Giant Banana, that's probobly more your jam, culturally speaking.

Cheers.

I’d be interested in hearing what your list of titles would be. Please put 10 names up.

Pretty much ditto - and also got the trade show email.

#778 2 years ago

Judas Priest would be cool ! I’m not a huge fan but the art would be bad ass and the hard driving music would lend well to a pin / game play

#779 2 years ago

3 weeks to go! Can't wait to see the reveal.

I agree there are too many really odd and obscure ones on there but James Bond certainly would have a HUGE fan base and people lining up with their checkbooks / credit cards ready. Most likely too expensive for API to invest in but who knows. I'd love to see a First Element pin but that's still a bit obscure as well so it wouldn't have the same auto-sales generation that something like 007 would.

#781 2 years ago

I’ll add another few to the list:

Back To The Future
The Matrix
Futurama
Harry Potter
Pink Floyd
Grateful Dead
A Nightmare On Elm Street
Disney World / Disneyland theme parks under glass
Zombie Land
Princess Bride
Monster Squad

#782 2 years ago

There's an entire thread or two about it but we're overdue for an updated South Park pin but to do it properly it needs to have settings to make is very un-family friendly. I doubt AP would touch it for that and the cost reasons.

Yeah, AP got hammered for the monkey on the backglass, they probably wouldn’t touch an adult SP.

I’d rather it was the “Cheshire Cat” out of the bag with Alice In Wonderland….

Probably wishful thinking, but am I the only one hoping that there might be 2 games announced at Expo by API? LOV is not an entirely original API production, right? Maybe they will want to follow Spooky's lead and let us see their next fully original game at the same time as LOV?

OMG what a great suggestion. Would be hilarious. Killer songs and visuals, call outs. I think that has gone into my top 5 dream themes along with Van Halen,
Journey, BTTF, Kill Bill and The Three Amigos....

In the past they've said they won't announce until games are ready to ship but there's a new sherriff in town over there now so who knows, sure would be cool if they had two games to show / play at the same time. With the current state of supply chains, delays, labor shortages, etc. I seriously doubt it will happen though.

#792 2 years ago

Since we’re throwing out dream themes, I’ll put in mine:
Jaws
Scooby-Doo
The Rocky films (maybe done like Champion Pub)
Ozzy
Bermuda Triangle
And I’d love to see a Bigfoot vs Yeti pin (wishful thinking, I know)

They should announce that they are doing the upgraded/fixed Magic Girl next!

Only if they can do it without being tied to JPOP

I think they learned their lesson with JPOP from the originally planned Houdini mess. That guy is poison now and shouldn't be touched by any pinball company.

My list:

Predator

Friday the 13th

Shogun Assassin

Terminator 2 (Remake)

Nightmare on Elm St. (Remake)

Gremlins (1&2)

Goonies

The Last Dragon (This could work)

Mad Max Fury Road

Pink Floyd

The Warriors

The Thing

Escape From NY

Ong Bak (1,2,3)

RoboCop (Remake)

Batman (The Dark Knight Returns)

Will we ever see any adult titles from American?

Only time will tell.

I don't get this whole hunger for thirty years ago thing some people have here.

Jaws would sell out in minutes, a 45 year old movie that wasn't very good to begin with? Why has no-one made one then?

I don't listen to the music i listened to when i was 18. Music has moved on and there are new sounds.

I have no idea what themes would sell and certainly don't profess to know others thoughts or what they'd go rabid for, who is rabid for things anyway? I go for theme integration and execution more than theme, hate the walking dead tv shows, love the pinny. Hate GnR the band, like the pinny. No interest in Rob Zombie, love the pinny....see a connection here?

You guys can play your wishing games, i'd like an Assassins' Creed pinball, but i wouldn't try to make my wishes more important by including a petition of people i don't know who are 'rabid' for it is all.

And please jgc, no more boring long PM justifications.

All I know is video game licenses are very untapped. Resident Evil alone would do very well. I say base it on Resident Evil 2 so you can do a post launch patch with a Nemesis Resident Evil 3 mode.
