Do you guys think the disc will help the ring action?
Quoted from zucot:Do you guys think the disc will help the ring action?
I'm struggling to see how. I mean, it might be fun in the short term, all wild and bouncy and wacky. But once the novelty wears off it seems like it would be pretty impossible to actually apply that much skill and accuracy to it. A spinning disk + loose control from the slings = somewhat out of control bouncing.
Once I've done it enough times and I'm looking for strategy and scoring opportunities it sounds frustrating. That said, I haven't tried it, so maybe it's cooler than what I'm describing. I kind of doubt it though.
Played the pro and the mini playfield
Gets pretty boring real fast.
Sound was pretty good with the tunes
Of each wrestler
The LE with the spinning disc seams
To only make any ball control impossible
Like the LCD though
But I would say :
What's your next game Stern ?
I put in over 20 plays on a pro model and have to say the call outs and the music are pretty good. I don't like the fact that the return from the center loop don't go right to the flippers. Also as mentioned the ring area gets old fast. Maybe more call outs like an actual match is going on would help. Best call out I've heard so far is the one for a tilt warning done in a goat like voice. Had me cracking up when I heard it.
Really no reason to take video till the software gets updated IMHO.
I'll add in 1.05 software the skill shot is a good change as each step on the ladder (Light) provides the player a different award. Also can't work towards TAG TEAM multiball while in a match.
Quoted from pinballkyle:Still no decent video yet??
PAPA TV vid go to the 48min mark.
I brought up in another thread that it feels like the ring is overused. Plunging right into it and also having it at the top of the ramp makes the ball spend way too much time up there. Someone else said the ring had to be used a lot because of the theme... Maybe if there was more to do.
To me, it would have been much cooler if it was more difficult to access. Not having the ball enter at launch and perhaps having a diverter which opened the ring after knocking down a set of drops or something.
Still looks like a fun game even though the theme doesn't really appeal to me.
I think its looks great. Only gameplaywise the most boring stern pin ever to me.
Only a few tweaks away from being fun instead of boring though. If both ramps would return to the flippers, and you had an extra ramp towards the ring, only open in special modes. It could be really fun.
Ah well... Cant like them all. Last few sterns have such awesome gameplay. Hope next one is more to my liking.
Stick a fork in this one already, quality over quantity and Wrestling and Mustang themes SUCK, sorry
Where is the next Ac/dc?
Quoted from iceman44:quality over quantity and Wrestling and Mustang themes SUCK, sorry
Mustang's gameplay doesn't and that's what important to me.
played one last night with a steep angle, I was surprised how much I like it. I can get past the theme. It flows fast with the middle horseshoe, the side ramps back up to the playfield are steep. I thought you'd spend forever in the ring, but there are so many ways to lose the ball (center drain, sides drain). Code is still early, but about as good as when metallica first came out. Plunger skill shot doesn't seem to be enabled yet.
Played it for a little while and it's pretty fun. Interested in seeing how the scoring will end up. They mention it on the stream that the end of ball bonus can really rack up some big points. I sort of like games where the bonus plays a big role. Don't see that too often.
Played my third game on it last night, this time on the new 1.11 code. I have to say, I like this game much more than I want to. On theme alone, I want to hate it, but I don't. Exactly the opposite of the Walking Dead, where on theme alone, I want to love it, but I don't.
Yes, gameplay is focused on the ring, as expected, but there are some other interesting shots (the extra ball lane on the left for example) and overall, the game flows nicely. Trying to keep track of two playfields at once during multiball is tough. The animations are good, the referee is especially funny, and fitting.
I'll be playing this one some more, for sure.

That's the most interesting observation I've read about this pin so far. Really puts it into perspective. Thanks.
I've played about 30 or so games on the Pro and I think the ring takes up too much space on the playfield and too much time during gameplay. I don't think there is any skill required in the ring playfield (at least compared to traditional flipper play) and it's quite boring and pointless. At least in the Pro, there aren't that many other interesting or fun shots to make. To me (and I'm certainly no expert at "flow"), this game has ZERO flow, due to how the ring playfield stops everything dead until the opponent is pinned or the ball falls out of the ring and makes it back to the main playfield. I think the pin would have been better if they used drop targets and actual flippers in the ring mini-playfield (maybe similar to Big Guns?) or if they made the ring smaller and not such a big part of the game.
Unless I'm missing something, what other shots or flow does this game have? You can shoot the inner horseshoe-shot/lane but that's pretty uninspiring, and the only real combo shot I can think of is hitting that horseshoe shot and then hitting one of the outer ramps to shoot the ball up into the ring mini-playfield where you'll Doink the ball around until you pin your opponent (which could last minutes) or the ball drains back onto the main playfield.
The art, sounds and dots are OK, but the game just isn't fun.

The ramps also can act as a loop. Up one ramp, down the other. I'm not sure if it is a game-controlled thing, or if it is just a hard ramp shot that does it, but I have seen it happen.
This is one that the LE will be much better than the pro. Additional left flipper , spinning disk in
the rink , ect .

I think all of the recent LE's are better than the Pro's it is just a matter if you can afford the extra money to buy or justify them...
Quoted from pins4life33:I think all of the recent LE's are better than the Pro's
I agree to that, but still it seems Wrestlemania has more difference between the LE/Pro than the latest games from Stern Would be great to try a LE once, but dont know if theres any love for it in Norway. Think Im the only one capable of buying a Wrestlemania, had i had the money =)
is there a extra ball programmed with the code 1.17...??
even with long play,i never see it lighting...and i'm playing a lot on this pinball at this moment....
is there a another belt as the american championship programmed...??i win and win only that one at each game...
with the poor code,i think i will not playing on it anymore...
it's a pity because the game could be a geat game...
