Quoted from o-din:

A very intelligent, soft spoken peanut farmer that inherited a mess.

No doubt. A bit of a visionary too. Installed solar panels on the WH long before that was ever going to be considered a "thing".
I'll never forget when he toured Three Mile Island during the meltdown.
I lived about 40 minutes away from TMI when it happened and it scared the Hell out of me as a kid. I actually remember feeling better about it when I saw the POTUS was coming to see the plant. Probably my most vivid memory of the 70s as a child. Besides getting pong

Quoted from CrazyLevi:

Smoked a joint on the roof of the White House with Willie Nelson?
Or is that just a myth?

I hope its true.

Quoted from o-din:

The ones I had were called Ker Knockers. As fun for a ten year old as owning a set of nunchucks.[quoted image]

Nice find, Odin. I had a set of those in the 70s and I Absolutely loved them which was their downfall. That constant cracking sound got them thrown away when I finally put them down and I wasn't looking.
Great thread to look at some old toys I use to have too. Evel knievel was the man when I was a kid and his wind up motorcycle toy was one of my all time favorites.

Quoted from ultimategameroom:

Yes !!!
they were awesome to use on a concrete basement or garage floor-but it hurt like hell if you miss judged and lost your balance only to slam onto the floor.
Sit and spin was also cool as were big wheels and green machines. We had a couple big hills in our neighbor hood and you could really get going fast. Sometimes we would get a group of 5 or 6 of us together and have mad max/Chinese downhill anything goes races.
Good times and amazingly no one ever got hurt more than a little road rash!!![quoted image]

Love the Green machine!! Owning a Green machine was my goal in life in 1978, but by the fall of 1979 my attention turned to the schwinn scrambler. Two kids in the neighborhood had one that were black and yellow. It was the first time I ever saw mag wheels on a bmx bike. After that I was hooked and I ended up in the 80s getting heavily into riding dirt track and quarter pipe ramps.

I always loved the skyway tuff wheels. That ad is surprising!! I had no idea they were around that long and I didn't realize that was what was on the scrambler. . I thought they only came about in the early 80s. Skyway made a badass double crossbar, handlebar set too.
