My favourite decade, too. I was born 65, so I experienced it firsthand in the UK.

The 70's saw some of the best Rock bands in history; Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Queen, Bad company, The Who, the list goes on and on! Born in the 50's so I lived the 70's. Graduated college and went to Texas for 6 yrs. before coming back home to Cincy.

Vietnam. Tin soldiers and Nixon coming, we're finally on our own, this summer I here the drumming, more dead in Ohio.

I’m guessing most people view the decade of their teens-20s to be the best one that ever happened.

“Life was simpler!”

No shit! You had almost no responsibilities or real problems! You had all your hair on your head, no hair on your back, were in the best shape of your life, no weird growths...

They were magical times indeed.

As Bruce so eloquently called them "glory days" indeed. I had hair down close to my waist back then, funny how that works out, you don't really lose it, it just migrates to other areas, your ears, nose, and back over time.

No cell phones and no social media. . . but no Pinside. The best and worst of times.

There are times when I miss the days of being less connected that forced us to be more independent. I suppose that could be said of the 80's and early 90's as well. . . . and earlier decades but I was not around for those.

The whole country got together and went all in for the Bicentennial. Every small town covered Main Street with flags and had parades. Our town painted the fire hydrants to look like minute men and colonial figures.

The music was great.

The decade when I got my first Machine!

Billy beer...possibly the worst I ever tasted, it was free and terrible. The next week when the distributer rep came to the store I said no thanks anyway.

I grew up in the 70's. Our house was in the country, backed on Lake Erie. Where we lived, we had to drive *north* to get to the USA: Detroit.

There was a village about a mile away that had a pier...and an arcade. My immigrant father always warned me about the "hippies" that hung out there - even though it was 1979 and the hippies long gone.

All the kids would hang out there and lots were smoking cigarettes and pot even at the ripe old age of 12.

There was pinball (maybe a Captain Fantastic and a Paragon); but we pre-teens were more focused on the newfangled video games: Space Invaders/Galaxian. Defender came a little later but that was the 80's technically so we won't go there

1964-1974 best 10 yrs of movies, music, cars etc. 1974-1984 wasn’t too shabby either, except for the cars.

1970's Lots of great stuff happening. There were too many good TV shows to list.

Hot Wheels, could keep us occupied for hours at a time.

Also the arcades filled with EM pinball machines.

I was born in '64 and grew up in the 70s. 1977 was one of the greatest years of my life.

In addition to arcades being everywhere -

1. I turned 13.
2. KISS was at the height of their power and touring the world on the LOVE GUN tour. ( I was later in a KISS tribute band in my 20s)
3. Van Halen released their first album.
4. STAR WARS was released, and the #1 movie of the year.
5. Smokey and the Bandit was released (#2 movie of the year.)(I've owned 2 '77 Bandit Trans Ams).

Spent way too much time watching M*A*S*H, Happy Days (never knew the Nip-It in Arnold’s wasn’t correct for the show’s 50s setting), All in the Family, Laugh-In, Brady Bunch, Partridge Family ....

Born in 62, and even though I didn’t buy it till 83, my first car, 77 Pinto, will always be special to me (and no, it didn’t explode)

We had an 1974 orange Pinto. That thing was unstoppable. Ugly as hell, but it was a great car.

Yup. That's what I always say.
For the most part anyway, the cars sucked.
There were some exceptions, of course.

They were everywhere! By the end of the decade, I thought I'd never see another one. Who woulda thunk it?

At least they ended up in basements where we could get em cheap years later!

My brother (also Frank J.) got his
"Subway" in '77 (still has it), and I got my first pin, "Hearts and Spades" a bit later. It's long gone.

Man, the 70's, 80's, and 90's. I loved every one of those decades for different reasons. I had a ball for 30 whole years. I consider myself very lucky to be born when and where I was. I don't know many people from any prior generations in the entirety of human history that have had as much fun as some of us have.

Couldn't agree more. I was born in 72, so the 70s were a bit fuzzy, but I loved its simplicity. Even though I agree with crazylevi, that a lot of that has to do with our age, the times were still less complicated. No 300 channels, no smartphones, smart this smart that, 24 hour news cycles with political BS rammed down our throats at every turn. Kids played outside and people were frugal. A lot had to do with having less, but that forced everyone to be creative and hang out with real people. Plus the best music came from those three decades. Yes, I'm very happy I was born during that era.

Can you imagine today’s America ever being so patriotic as the 70s were? Absolutely shocking!

And I was just telling my kids what it was like to be in a road trip and get lost back before cellphones. If I could go back, I would. Things were so much calmer back then.

Yeah all Americans loved everything about their country in the 1970s and were completely happy about everything and nobody spoke up against anything their government was doing and never used their patriotic right to speak up about it. Good call dude! It was a simpler time!
