Joined the club 3 weeks ago, but did not have a chance to post yet. Also wanted to finish my topper work. The fellow pinsider I bought the LOTR from, had made a castle topper from a toy. Was mounted on a piece of lexan and tied down with zip ties.
Well, let's just say it did not survive the transport from Arizona to California (not to myself, secure the pin to the floor in your SUV, and don't store anything inbetween the pin and the driver seat).
Anyhow, I decided to build a better base out of plywood and light it up. Build a backdrop out of plywood and made it look like an old castle wall. Lots of dremel work on those stone grooves .
Put some LEDs in and have the dragon and the back drop on two different circuits. Next step, tie the dragon into the gameplay .
Have some videos, but no idea how to upload them.

Figures youll have to track down i can take pictures of how to wire it interactive or you can always just tap into the GI

Would appreciate a wiring diagram or just pics of the interactive version.

I did, but about 14 years ago when I first came to the US

Quoted from auspin:

I see people mentioning a relay board. But my LE has a box there instead?

That is a relay, just in a box.

Quoted from auspin:

update: a new 5a fuse has fixed my issue and pinball back to life
The only thing I can think of is I added a colordmd 2 weeks ago, and this connects to into the auxilary power source off the main box as per instructions, perhaps is drawing more power than a 5a fuse can handle?
Quick story behind my lOTR LE NIB i got a month ago. I've always been a lotr fan was was looking for my first ever pinball.
It was just a right time right place scenario. The original private collector bought brand new and stored for over 9 years. I had an opportunity to get a new le gold so I jumped on it. I can't imagine there would be many nib LEs left. I was a little concerned with things like battery leakage after 9 years in the box but was assured it was stored in a proper storage location. Everything ended up being in perfect cosmetic and working condition. Very happy so far and learning all things about pinball. So far I've just added the original figurines, colordmd and some protectors.

That gold looks sweet on it.

Since we do a topper show off.... I'll have to pull mine up again. Lighting for the dragon and castle are seperately controlled.

Installed my Orthanc tower mod today. Amazing mod btw.
While doing so, I found this little one in my cab. I looked everywhere, but could not figure out where it broke off from. Anyone any idea?

Right side (the curved side) is broken. It is darkish green. I looked at the manual, and I cannot find anything close to this.

Just in case anyone is still wondering. I found it.
It is this one, under the path of the dead.

Now I just need to find this to buy somewhere. Luckily not essential at all.

Does anyone of you have an extra one of these plastics by any chance? Don't really want to spend close to $300 and buy a full set of plastics.

So have been doing a lot if searching in this thread trying to find some good tutorial/instructions to light up my Army of the Dead path. From LEDs glued into the figurines to star post LEDs to the original micro processor mod, but slot of it simply talks about the result rather than the how to.
I do not really want to get into the microprocessor thing, but I kind of like how they are triggered by the ball in the tower VUK, just because all other lights are off.
I know the easiest would be to tie them into the 4 lights at the back of the path, and with the star post LEDs you wouldn't even need a resistor or diode if I am not mistaken.
Any direction is greatly appreciated.

Quoted from pinballjj:

I just soldered matrix connectors to the ends of 5 mm warm white leds mounted under the 4 figures and tapped into a corresponding matrix bulb on the POTD light on the backboard. I have an ocd light board and did not use any diodes or resistors. I like this wiring as it is interactive with the potd backboard lights.
To me using the star post leds (which have 4 leds per post) under the figures would be way too bright but you can dim the bulbs with some paint if needed. The nice thing about the star post approach is no soldering required, I think comet was going to start to offer a 1 smd flex bulb ( with a prewired connector similar to their 8 smd flex flasher bulbs and 4 led star post ) but I do not find it on their website but they are very good at responding to inquiries .
I think I have some pics of how I did the installation I could send or let me know if you need some guidance with this.

Not afraid of any soldering. That is the fun part. Would love for you to share those pics of your install if possible.

I did think the total play audit being at 5k seemed high

You are talking about a pin that is 18 years old!!!
That's about 5 games per week. Not crazy.
