Just take that bumper coil out of circuit. You want to temporarily remove the single wire. If you cut the daisy chained double wire, you will take out all coils downstream.

Most likely you need to repkace the coil and the corresponding tip102 transistor on the driver board. The manual will tell you what transistor number.

Quoted from Only_Pinball:

Do you have a LED in LOTR? If so, can you post video? I can't find one with the LED version installed. Thanks!

My LOTR is under an LED light in my basement. I made a video of a 14 minute game but not close up to the LED display. I also made a 6 minute video with a close up. I think LED looks great in LOTR, TOM, and ST LE. I have LCD in Spiderman and STTNG. I have the Spiderman at large DOTs and the STTNG on the setting that blends the dots. I think I like LED better. Of course that is always a subjective personal opinion.

Close up video:

Longer video:

Hope this helps. Michael

Quoted from Damien:

What the major difference between the LCD and LED? I put LCD in mine.

LCD provides more display options including larger dots and the blending of the dots to create solid text and pictures (high resolution upscaling). It looks good straight on but is dimmer. You can really see this at an angle. It is larger since it is basically a laptop display.

LED is brighter and just has the ability to display dots. The colors pop. The size is exactly the same as original display. The price is a little less.

Since I like the brighter display and the look of the dots, LED is better for me.

I have it. I like it. It is stands out. In the video I posted above about the colordmd, you can sort of see it when display is not reflecting.

I previously added the Volcano mod from pin worlds. I busted added the tower mod at the left from pin worlds. I think both look great!

I finally got around to putting a PinSound Plus board into my LOTR. There are 4 mixes. There is a really nice mix with strings or violins or such.

I have been working on adding the Pinnnovators subwoofer connection kits to all my games. I just added the Multi system one for LOTR and a subwoofer and it sounds nice.

Rather than the $100-$129 Polk Subwoofer, I found a $30 Yamaha subwoofer at a thrift shop and gave it a try. It sounds good. So hopefully saved some money.

I haven't had a chance to play many games with the subwoofer but really enjoying the new mixes.

Quoted from Medic:

which mix is your favorite?

I loaded four on the usb drive. I am not sure of the name of the one I like. Is there a way to find out which one I am currently listening to? Or a way to listen on the pc so I know?

(I could only place one at a time on the usb but that would take a lot of time.)

Quoted from Medic:

Do you still recommend upgrading to pinsound? We’re you just sick of stock sounds?

I never thought I would really care about sound (except for when it is not there). I still enjoy the mix I am listening to. Although the music was always great on this game, Pinsound really brings it to another level.

I can hear the difference with the subwoofer. It sounds really nice but I cannot say it sounds fantastic. (I think the best game I have that integrates with the subwoofer well is Stern Star Trek LE. Star Wars Premium is comes in second.)

I just received my 3D lenticular apron cards from @YouBentMyWookie.

They look great in person.

Here is a short video:

Quoted from Morgoth00:

My pin is in a fairly dark room, which glass (3 choices?) do you recommend I get, to remove the DMD reflection? Especially since PDI is out of stock for at least a month. Will the Stern HD be just fine?
[quoted image][quoted image]

I have the Stern HD glass on my LOTR and it looks fine with the color LED.

Pinball Life sells a "Bent Plastic" that you can slide in to the back channel and it does a great job of removing the reflection.

https://www.pinballlife.com/bent-plastic.html

The first picture below is the regular glass with the Lord of the Rings directly below an LED florescent light with a lot of glare. The reflection is seen by the person standing in front of the game.

The second picture is with Stern HD glass. It is much better. The glare shows in the photo but cannot be seen by the player standing in front of the game.

Quoted from Medic:

Hello, I'm thinking of getting pinsound. I see they sell speakers as well. Should I upgrade my original speakers/sub? If so do you think I should get them from pinsound or from somewhere else? Thanks

I have the original speakers, pinsound, and the pinnovators sub-woofer board to an external sub woofer and to me it sounds great.

The ball will sometimes bounce off the orange post shown in the second photo and get stuck behind Balrog between the plastic and the clear plastic. I usually have to slide off the glass to pop out the ball. I bought a bunch of cone shaped rubbers to add to places like this on my games to help if balls get stuck as shown in the third photo. I placed it behind Balrog and it will hopefully stop balls from getting stuck there.

I was admiring the red ones up by the orc switches ! They look superbandish?

Quoted from Ramstn:

mbelofsky love the green rubbers for the path of the dead where did you get them from?
Great Mod.
Cheers

Yes. They are super bands from Marco Spec. I use green on path of the dead, red at the top lanes and bumper area, and orange for the rest of the game.

Quoted from frogger:

I plan to install the pinsound board on LOTR who has the better sound track to download for this game.

I believe there are 4 variations available with one being the origial version. I loaded all of the onto the USB drive and switch between them every few games.

I no longer own a lord of the rings I’m cleaning out my closet and found these. I can’t find them on the internet to get prices. Are they worth much or of interest?
