Can anyone take a measurement and maybe send me a picture of how the clear plastic (830-6018-00 in manual) under the ring-ish is oriented? Mine was snapped when I got the machine years ago so I removed it, figured as part of my teardown I could recreate one out of lexan or something. (Also my 37 plastic below that is snapped if anyone has an extra they’d be interested in parting with)

Where is that piece on the playfield?

I think it's designed for balls that drop out of the ring to hit this plastic before dropping all the way down? Or protect the 37 plastic below it? I think you can see it a little bit here kind of two-tiered with the 08 clear plastic: https://www.ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=4858&picno=20621&zoom=1

Neal, does yours look like a piece snapped off here? The orientation seems to be as the manual suggests, but the manual shows it as a rectangular piece except for the little "chat bubble" blurb in the bottom-left.

It seems like it might be common that this plastic breaks. I talked with another member in the thread and it sounded like his was broken. I've been running my machine w/o it for years and don't see any excessive wear under the ring. Debating leaving it off, though I guess if I'm looking to recreate I could do it with thicker plastic...

Try these.

I guess it is just shaped a bit differently than what the manual suggests.

I’d love it if someone could get me a trace / measurements on that plastic!

The pics in the manual are wrong. Here is what they look like shown online from a replacement set. Each has 3 holes. (2 mounting holes and each has a hole for a post mounted on it to stop ball traps.)

Does anyone know the proper length for the hex spacers that hold up the left ramp habtrail cover?

#9260 59 days ago
Quoted from Neal_W:

The 4 switches are disabled when the VUK kicks the ball to the upper playfield for a second to make sure no switch registers from the vibration. Sometimes a ball quickly rolls over the upper right switch before they are re-enabled and it appears like the switch is not always working, but that is normal.

Actually, this is a setting that can be adjusted so they don't disable.

Love love LOVE the Tron theme.... however.... if you swap Tron 2.0 for Metallica then I'm with you.

How about Tron Pro, Metallica Premium, and LOTR?

My LOTR has been flawless up until yesterday. When I turned it on after about a week It started up with a very strange that I was not prepared for. I heard Gandalf's voice say Danger and something not right and the game then showed TILT. I powered off and back on and it went to TILT. I turned it off and waited longer and reseated all connectors and pressed on all socketed chips and the game booted up fine and my friend and I played probably 10 games or so with no issue and then during last game it displayed "TILT" cabinet was not pushed at all, and it always warns in game when pushed. Any idea where to start? I need it back to normal for SuperBowl/Birthday Party on the 12th.

Loose wire or cold solder on a wire to a tilt switch? Just a first guess.

Manual or something else leaning against the tilt bob

If the tilt bob isn't jammed or the ground wire loose, check the area below the battery pack on the system board in the backbox. If you had a prior leak or are leaking batteries now, it can make strange things happen.

It might be time that Bob gets a rodectomy.

This is a great image, but I have the same problem - mine snapped, don't know where to get a replacement - and if i have to make one, I need dimensions

What’s the best plug and play option for speaker upgrades?

#9272 48 days ago
Quoted from TheCoinSlotTC:

What’s the best plug and play option for speaker upgrades?

I’ve tried the Pyle 4” speakers in the back box and they sounded worse. I replaced the cabinet speaker with a Goldwood woofer and its a little bit of an upgrade. I put the stock back box speakers back in.

I put in Flipper Fidelity. Now I can hear dialog that was muddled before in LOTR. I put FF in many of my pins.

Quoted from TheCoinSlotTC:

I went with the flipper fidelity kit. Very easy to install. However, if I did the project again, I would have just purchased the ultimate bundle from pinsound. I would have saved a little cash that way rather than buying just the pinsound board, headphone station and shaker.

Decals going on! Was worried it wouldn't look right but I'm thinking it looks better than original.

Do any of you have these markings on your games? Any idea what they may signify? Thanks in advance.

Anybody have an lotr topper they love? Also, anyone have a chuck-e-cheese topper they don’t love and want to unload?

I am in the process of making a very cool topper. If it turns out like I hope I will offer on Pinside. I do have one custom dagger shooter still. The one pictured is my personal. The one I have left is a different elven blade color. The one pictured is my own. PM me if interested in either.

I’m currently making a Sting sword topper. Plan is to illuminate it blue during certain game events with the Pinsound. I’ll post pics when it’s done.

I'm in!

After years of waiting for the stars to align, they finally did. Way back when this pin was new, I would go to the movie theater just to play this. Haven't played it in almost 20 years. I'm super excited to finally own one.

I have gotten one shot away from destroying the ring 6 times. It's an awesome game. Congrats!

This is my second set of the sillyoldelf blades. They have been on for a few months.
The first set got destroyed because they kept falling off.
I have blades on all of my games and none of the thicker ones from other companies have ever come off.
Anyone else having this issue?

Mine have stayed in place. Did you clean the side walls with alcohol before installing?

What color LEDs are you guys using behind the plastic around the magnetic ring? I'm using comet sunlight and they look pinkish.

I put in frosted red. I used frosted warm white in most of the playfield. Clear warm white under the playfield. A few spots are color matched.

Ahhhh! Finally in the club after collecting for 13 years! Grail pin obtained. When I first became obsessed with pinball in 2010 I used to drive an hour each way to go to a location that only had a single LOTR and I would play it for hours.

Quick question - my new (to me) LOTR has pinsound installed with an alternate soundtrack. I really want the original sounds in there. Is there a way to just "disable" pinsound or do I have upload an original sound package to it?

Apologies if that has been asked before, I searched but didn't see this specifically asked.

Welcome to the club!

You would have to install the original soundtrack. In my humble opinion, there are some really good LOTR Pinsound mixes.

FYI... You can always have multiple sound tracks on your USB and just switch on the fly.

Has anyone made replacement weapons for the characters? Almost all of my character figures on the playfield all have hands that appear to at one time held a weapon. Has anyone made any replacements? Are they available?

My understanding is the weapons were removed at the factory because they weren’t glued in and would come out. I’m not aware of replacement weapons, you can buy new figures and they come with weapons which you can glue into the hand of the figure. That’s what I did. Also, you might be able to find a set of weapons for standard size D&D miniatures which are about the same size.

Working through my list of issues on my new LOTR... I searched for this one on here, no luck. Any ideas?

The trough eject is too strong which causes the ball to travel a few inches up the shooter lane, by the time it settles over the shooter lane switch the game registers it and freezes the skill shot insert as if the ball was soft plunged. I can't seem to find a way to lower the eject power.

Did you check the coil to make sure someone didn't put the wrong one in for the trough eject somewhere along the way? It's supposed to have a 26-1200 (090-5044-00T).

Standard adjustment 33 will reduce all coil power. I had the same eject issue. It now may take a few times to get ball in the lane, but it is better than before.

Factory setting is on Normal. Can be set to Hard, Normal or Soft.

Well it finally broke. Any idea where to get a new one? I’ve looked at the usual sites and didn’t see any
