Our first episode is up for your listening pleasure. This show is a collaboration between myself and Ryan Wanger. We are doing this on a shoestring so please forgive the quality of our audio (we only had one microphone), but we believe that the quality of the discussion will keep y'all entertained.

It's posted up on iTunes and we will be putting up a Facebook page for the broadcast very soon.

Look here for episodic updates, and feel free to give us all the feedback you can. We have future guests lined up, products to review and look forward to playing and talking more pinball!

Thank you for checking us out!

Ryan and I are looking into ways to balance our voices out better with the 1mic we have so far. We will be purchasing more (and better) gear in the future, but for now we are working with what we have. After Ryan gets back from expo, we will record our next show. I'll keep y'all updated here.

Quoted from Mr68:

Is it true your podcast will be stylized from the Howard Stern show? Adult film stars playing pinball in your studio could be huge.
(Thread bump)

While I really do enjoy Howard, I'm more of an Opie and Anthony fan. Most radio shows are, well... boring. After listening to a bunch of other pinball podcasts as homework I have to admit that my favorite was the first. Clay Harrell got to the game before anyone else did and he got some INCREDIBLE interviews with a list of pinball royalty. Some of these guests have passed on (Steve Kordek's interview in particular was stellar, and Python showed us what a pinball mad-scientist was really all about) or haven't been seen on a podcasts again. If we are taking cues from anyone, it is Shaggy and his team of merry pin-miscreants. For those of you who do not know what I am referring to, check out the archive from one of my pinball heroes here:

With the admission that we are learning as we go along, we have been very fortunate to have gear lent to us by JJ Babich and his and of merry men at GeX. Any feedbback, ideas, tips and hints are greatly appreciated.

ryanwanger What's the name of Kevin's favorite book on pinball engineering?
-mof

Pinball engineering? As in building games or fixing them?

C2S

Quoted from mof:

Caucasian2Step

Not sure -- on one ep. you went upstairs and grabbed books, and came back down very excited, and you failed to mention the titles. Perhaps you could list them here to help your listeners.
-mof

I'll take a look when I get home. Most of those were books about pinball history and collecting games.

We got our first mention on another Podcast here:

Wayne used the LKP Ghostbusters tutorial against me for the win. AGH! Well played Wayne!

#93 7 years ago
Quoted from Whysnow:

would love to hear some quick break downs/strategy on some of the older classics that you run on route Kevin.
Side note, would love to hear your run down of top 10 pre-DMD games to toss on route.

I'll talk to Ryan about this subject. All of his games are B/W 90's and newer on location.

#96 7 years ago
Quoted from Whysnow:

yeah, but you rock the good stuff

I don't care how old a game is or who made it. If the game has game... I'm playing it!

Yes. We have been slack. The short story is that Ryan has been doing the production and Comet LED's is taking up more and more of his time. Expect more to come out soon.

Apologies for the delay, we have not gone away!

InfiniteLives

Quoted from InfiniteLives:You guys should do an episode at the state tourny in a few weeks. I'll even grant you an exclusive interview after I lose and get drunk.

I'll bring the gear and we will record to the side.

Great idea!

Quoted from mof:

Very good sound.
Ryan was farther from the mic - but certainly the EQ range and room space was captured well.
good bass tones...
-mof

We are learning as we go along and what we have learned so far is, we are utter amateurs at this and loving every minute of it! Thank you for tuning in and look for more production from us soon!

Quoted from toyotaboy:

You really need to work on your audio. I had to crank up my speakers to hear Roger, then I'd hear a large bang in the background.. Hell, I had it turned up so loud I could hear your cat's jingling collar and purring.
Loved the interview though.. But I'm just trying to wrap my mind around Roger sitting on the phone for a 6 hour interview (with a lunch break). Also Part 2 seems to be the first 2 hours of part 1? I'm assuming the whole interview is 4 hours?

This interview kicked my ass.

I will be re-editing the second part to try to make it better, but even then... the environment did not help and my toolset to record this opportunity is limited. Frustrating to say the least, but each episode is a learning process and I'm moving forward with each session.

Our Newest episode is up now! We have the Championship father and son team of Adam and Escher Lefkoff who took time out of their busy schedule to sit down with The Little Kings and wax pin-philosophical. We recorded this in the bottom of Lyons Classic Pinball and had a great time talking about lots of different things all related to this game of pinball that we love so much!

I'm going to have to see what I can do to get a 24 hour event going on here in CO (dammit). You have experienced Dory Hill and are one of the few that I know of (maybe the only one) that has done both!

Video games AND pinball! This episode is a late night conversation with Xyla DuVal. She is the owner, and overseer of the 80's videogame repository of gaming awesomeness here in Denver. I learned a great deal about what it is like to rebuild a video game and make it play as it should when it came out. We also talked some pinball too since she has about a dozen pinball games there as well. Something for everyone at HyperSpace Arcade!
