How can you tell whether you've completed into the fire? Does it merely blink yellow either way?

It will blink when the mode is ready to start - after you start it the light will stay lit yellow (whether you complete it or not). However, I don't know if the color is green or something like that if you complete the mode. (I haven't won it yet).

I am sure Keith will sure up the lights in a later build. I would probably have it flash purple when ready to start - the go to solid yellow when playing it (and after it is over if you won it would be green - if you lost it would just stay yellow)?

I think all of the arkanstone modes should have a video and pause the game when completed like when you kill smaug.
That would be spectacular (and give a little time to catch your breath).

Agree - after the ending video it would then kick out 3 balls for the victory laps

Thank you evilelement for making my Hobbit Topper. I got mine back from modfather for being painted and it looks great! Modfather always does good work. Now I am just waiting for rock914 to make a "special" light kit and it will put an exclamation point on it. Pinside is great! People working together to help others out and do creative things.

Creeping up on 1000 plays. I'd like to hear everyone's favorite scoring strategies because I feel like I'm playing the same way most games.

My current strategy tends to be hitting the loops until I get to Erebor the first time so all the modes get a scoring bonus, working through Dol Guldur, evil revealed then return of Sauron while doing any multiballs that get qualified.

Then I just end up playing random modes.

I know some of the other feeder modes but with a lot of modes qualified and it's hard to get to the ones I'd really like to work on.

What an knockout of a game. The light show is *in* credible. Somebody came to my house earlier this week and commented on how "this game is so dark", referring to Monster Bash, because he had just played TH. Monster Bash isn't overly bright but it is pretty dramatic of a difference. Twilight Zone is similarly dark. Anyway, loving this game.

If you qualify Radagast first and do Dol Guldur then Evil Revealed, I've had a good Return of Sauron with lots of spinner shots before completion be worth over 100,000.

No scoring tips but sometimes I just play to work and know the modes. Got in one hour today before dinner made it to Barrel Escape did better, got down to 4 barrels .

I replaced balls with Silver jets from Marco. Nice and shinny. I love this game.

I just got mine set up after moving. Still running 1.90. Tried updating to 2.0 but had no luck. Have the root file as Hobbit_update after extracting from the zip file and follow the display tips as directed. Either my thumb-drive is bad or I am a dipshit - probably the latter

2.0 code is awesome! I recommend it. New lighting effects, callouts, and more. I didn't have any troubles installing the delta update when it came out.

Any chance you mean Bag End ? If so page C-90 and C-91 in the manual, switch #32.

If not, could you check name, spelling, switch number, or screen shot of the error.

Yes, Bag End, sorry

The switch is listed as under the Bag End light, yet under the playfield I dont see a switch.

Does Bag End light when the pop bumpers are hit?

Are guys still having issues loading and playing 3.0 or is all resolved?
And how is it? Heard smuag flame light show was not working. Is this true? As it is a wonderful feature . Iam still running 2.97 and enjoying it.

I had no issues loading 3.0. Flames at end are different, they only come on if you don’t score to get your name on the board.

Just downloaded the 3.0 from Jersey Jack for the Hobbit and presently running the 2.96. I saw that there is a Hobbit Change Log 3.0. What is that and does that need to be downloaded?

Tells you what was all changed. Down load if you want to read it. Don't try and put in your game.

You do realize the 3.0 is a full install and not a delta, right ?

I’m having an issue with my The Hobbit Smaug Gold Edition. My game keeps activating the pop bumpers every 10 seconds or so and will automatically award a dwarf each time. Is this a know issue? Do I have a stuck switch or opto somewhere?

Bumper area rubber switch is stuck closed. That switch triggers the pops. Adjust that standing leaf switch and you’ll be good

if bugs are found, then i am sure another update will be released. as far as i know, the game features are complete.

I'm picking up a BA version and I was wondering if there are different versions of this? Meaning if the game # is placed on some aprons and some weren't? The one I'm looking to buy doesn't have the game # on the apron yet a guy selling his on here posts this pic which does show it.

BAs came with the sticker separate but uninstalled and it was up to the NIB customer whether or not he or she wanted to install it.
That’s why some have the sticker on them and some do not.
