When I got into the hobby in 1981 I decided to chase a different aspect of the collection phase - artwork. While most manu's. contracted their artwork (Ad Posters), Bally had their own in-house art department. In my opinion they had the greatest assembled talent of all time - Dave Christensen, Paul Faris, Kevin O'Connor, and Greg Freres. I decided to acquire an NOS example of playfield, backglass, bumper caps, screened plastics ("butyrates"), and lower apron for every Bally electronic pin through 1982. That was about 45 games. I believe their artwork of that period is the benchmark by which others will be compared. The advent of the airbrush and PhotoShop, etc., has surely altered the landscape. Some of the art packages on today's games are just lame in comparison. JLC
