Welp, I guess it's time to breathe a little life into this thread.

Goonies will be showing back up in the wild, this time at Zapcon 4.0 in Mesa, AZ on April 16th and 17th!

But, there's more to this story..

About a year ago, I took ownership of this awesome custom pinball machine, although everything wasn't as smooth as I had hoped it would be. <Cue dramatic music>... Since the game was in FL, and I was in AZ, I arranged to have the game shipped via pinside's favorite shipping company (of which I have NEVER had a bad experience), and after a few fateful days, it arrived seemingly completely safe and sound...

As you can see, it is WELL wrapped by mikeatsparkys and overall looks GREAT! I was traveling for work at the time, so of course it was dropped off without further cursory inspection. When I finally did start to unwrap this, things started to seem off...

So, clearly it endured some significant trauma en route. The backglass was still intact, thankfully, but behind the backglass, things were not so great...

And even though there are no pictures to show it, the cabinet sides had started to split apart. Further inspection also showed that the playfield supports had sheared off, the playfield literally sitting INSIDE the cabinet, some of the ball guides had completely broke, the flourescent tube was in 1000 pieces, ICs were flying around in the backbox, and several switches and solenoids had come undone. I had made a list of all the things that we needed to repair, but I don't want to revisit that list anytime soon...

I called a few close friends over to console me and get to work on repairing the damage...

But overall... everything was recoverable... Thankfully, ghostrachel and monsterbaldy are also badass as repairing pinball machines, and we got the machine mostly repaired in a couple of days. Speculation aside, clearly this thing suffered a pretty big drop and was never disclosed. And of course that is all the risk you take when shipping pins. Next time, I'll be taking road trip...

Fast forward ahead to today, after 2 job changes, 2 development projects, and a ton of other in-life events interrupting pinball repair time, and I am FINALLY able to confidently say that Goonies will be making it's FIRST appearance at Zapcon! Now, there is of course the other story here, the one where I've been able to take Mike's excellent work and expand upon it, improving the sound effects and sound tracks, the playability, and overall stability of the game, but that's for a different post. I just wanted to take a moment to wake this thread up and hopefully give everyone out there some reassurance that Goonies is alive and well!!

After reading this, and the recent BIBLE destruction, I don't think I'll be shipping a pin anytime soon. that really sucks, but it sounds like you're getting it back together.

Oh yeah, it was definitely repairable without much additional cost, but it was a BAD day that day. As I said before, previously I had NO issues with shipping the other 5 or so pins, just this one, the one that mattered the most, had major issues.

I'll get some new pictures of it up soon, I need to finish up a few things on it before I post some pics...

man, I was so stoked to see some pics of Goonies pop up on Instagram over the past week. So cool to get tagged in the pics to see my old pin being enjoyed by a whole new group of pinheads. Thanks for much for all of the extra love that you put into it Wes!

Thanks for creating this pin Mike and thanks for bringing it to Zapcon Wes - had a terrific time playing this. Was talking to some other folks about rethemes and such and this is one of the best (the best!)

The integration of the theme, sounds, etc were tops and I think I returned to this machine more than any other (except maybe those crazy pinball olympics games) - great job on this!
