Anyone ever quickly fall out of love with a game? Like, overnight? No Fear has been a Top 5 game for me forever, but after it sat dormant for a few months I turned it back on and could not believe that I didn't find it very enjoyable. It made no sense. It went from being a favorite, to "meh". Dozens of games over a few months confirmed it. Maybe it was my Metallica and WCS that I acquired last fall that changed my tastes. Maybe the game itself magically changed.

Has anyone else ever experienced a rapid change in taste like this?

Happens with lots of my stuff. When it's working I love it, if it breaks I hate it, if I fix it I love it again.

I was fairly new to pinball when I built a virtual cab. Once I had experience on hundreds of games I quickly realized that there are certain features I like and some games I hate. To the point that it I came across particular games in the wild that I didnt enjoy, even if it had a free credit, I'd just walk by.

Theres so many machines out there, you shouldn't have to play games you dont enjoy.

Taste changes over time. Embrace and enjoy! That’s what this hobby is about!

This can happen when your skills improve. When I got back into pinball, Sopranos was my favorite game and my grail pin to acquire.

4 or so years later I found a mint one for a great price. It didn’t last more than 6-8 months as I had outgrown it. I beat the game on stock settings with the first few plays. Then I had to set the game up so hard that it wasn’t fun anymore. Solid game sure, but if wasn’t near the level I had once had it on.

I've played thousands of games, and literally have played probably a couple hundred different solid state pins. NF was still a Top 5 game until now.

I’m feeling that way with my AFMR LE. I blame my Star Wars Prem.

I've purchased 3 machines (1 pin/2 vids) more then once. And am hoping to collect several more titles that I have owned and let go in the past (Pole Position and Flash Gordon come to mind). The yearning may return.

Thanks
