Quoted from wswinehart:Thanks swillie. I'll give those switches a good cleaning and adjustment, and hope that works. I didn't realize there were top caps and bottom caps. sounds like I just need to purchase a new cap set then.
Your caps are from the original Firepower. FP2 came later during a "cost cutting" time at Williams. The standard FP2 caps have not been reproduced but they were used on another pinball machine or two. You may have luck getting replacements on ebay. The probably better solution would be to get some aftermarket lighted caps if the ones you have actually bother you. Personally, I'd leave the ones you have on there. There have been some metallic (on plastic) Firepower caps made but they were something like $40 and used the same font and essentially the same design as the ones you have.
You might want to download the PDF of the operators manual for FP2 here:

swillie detailed a sound mod fairly early on this thread that uses the original Firepower sound chip on FP2 that may be of some interest.

Firepower 3 coming soon. Steve Richie of Rage!
Hi I have a issue with the right flipper.. As soon as I start a game the right flipper turns on all by itself and the coil started smoking so I quickly turned the game off and I replaced the coil and sleeve and the return spring.. I then turned the game on and restarted a game and the same thing keeps happening any thoughts? Thanks Robb E2D1660D-0E3D-406D-B13C-5587CC13DE06 (resized).jpeg

Hi,
Like I wrote, here my firepower 2 restored. Need to do:
- Find speech board or make myself
- Mount the other displays. The display are 0.8'' but for correctly display all digits in the glass window, I had to shorten the display digit.
- Mount some decal of fixed circle target.
I have add little strip of addressable led RGB under ramp. Maybe on the future I'll do some effects.
About the scan of playfield, I don't use it for the moments.

Does your sound board have the ribbon cable connector? I might be factually inaccurate here but to my knowledge some of if not all of the system 7 sound boards do not have the connection on them for the small ribbon cable to connect to the speech board. You either need a system 6 sound board, or in my case I had a new aftermarket 6/7 sound board which had the needed connector or whatever you call it.

I added the connector to mine.
The art was so close to being ready. So many life hurtles people have that stall or fail to get done. I got new Star Gazer & Seawitch playfields done in the past. Even was on the list with PPS for this title. Hopefully another can get the art done & playfields made.

My sound board have connector soldered. I don't have speech board at the moment
Anyone know of a list for what size coil sleeves to get. In the process of shopping out my fp2 and didn't want to take apart all the coils just to find out what size sleeves I need. Any help would be appreciated.

Edit wrong one
Quoted from Joco22:Anyone know the measurements of a Firepower 2 backglass? Saw this framed backglass in a store and looking to buy it, but wanted to be sure it was original. Appears so.

Oh it’s original…
Quoted from Gorgar666:I have a set of Original Caps. Normal yellowed, one with a slight chip/break. $30 shipped.
I am trying to determine if it’s the geometry of the game or maybe my spinner needs work , but I get allot more spins in the original fp than fp2. Do you get the same number of spins for both?

I'd guess this a cleaning/waxing/tuning/setup issue. Maybe the age of your rubbers also. Certainly not an expert, but it sounds like some tweaking might be in order. Also, I've always found the geometry of this game to be ever so slightly off. I love it and always will as it was my first pin and first resurrection from the dead...but it doesn't flow like the original.
Really need a set of slingshot plastics. Mine are not great at all. Can't find any online anywhere. If anyone has the ability to print them or has some I will gladly pay for them.

There was some discussion a few years ago about having CPR doing plastics through their "custom shop"--they had no interest in doing repros for us otherwise. The requirements would be the same--a full scan of each plastic at the required resolution--And, of course, the costs would be significantly increased because, well, Stu. AND CPR would retain the scans after charging us hourly to improve/correct/clean up the scans--so they could continue to gouge future owners of this title. (PLEASE, spare me about how they are a business--I totally get it. The guy could be polite about saying no, that's all. Also, it's not like he's curing cancer. He's cleaning up scans of art and tweaking colors for pinball machines--not the most precise or fussy art to begin with. They could also fix their mistakes (read: "take care of their customers and admit their mistakes") on other titles (like Meteor), but "they're a business" at that too). There may have been a problem with getting to license FP2 as well. Let's face it, FP2 isn't the hottest title out there--there are only 140 or so listed with pinside users, so it wouldn't be a money maker for them.
That's the problem with small outfits like this: they can't really afford to be in business for a niche interest like pinball and they end up with a mixed (at best) customer service experience because they are really probably existing hand-to-mouth and can't afford to do the right thing when they screw something up. There's also a real question about what and how much they can offer.
What the industry needs is someone who can print plastics, playfields and backglasses on demand and not have them look like crap. These things would need to function appropriately. Not sure that would be possible to build an effective business model around for anyone.

Thanks for the response. I kind of figured the answer was sorry, you're out of luck, but it's worth a shot. I understand and agree with your sentiment entirely. It sucks that there's no one to make them, but at the same time I can understand a little. Very few people have the time, energy, or expertise to devote their like to pinball. The ones who do probably get hounded every day for their time. I suppose there's a little give and take there. Plus, like you said FP2 is a very small market.
I'll keep scouring for plastic sets. Maybe someone will part one out and I can snag a set.
There is no problem with getting license ok. I had to pass on doing new playfields because the guy in Mexico was close, but had no time to finish correcting the art. Rick at PPS is usually very open for more production of parts, & had given me the green light for playfields. Now it will be done likely in the future by the big players, CPR or Mirco.
I forgot how much I enjoyed this game. I still don’t know which game I like better, FP or FPII. At the moment I’m liking FPII a little more because of the speed and flipper power.

That backglass is awesome. Did you end up buying? I really need a backglass for a pin a recently picked up. Would love to buy if you could part with it..

I have a pretty bad one, if you just want one to put in the game. It looks fine when the lights aren't on lol.
Quoted from MG7322:Getting ready to shop out this Firepower II. Is there a bulb list for LED out there before I go ahead and figure it all out? Scanned this thread but didn’t see it.

Nice looking FPII.
Quoted from TheSpeeder:Can Firepower II be configured to have sound in attract mode?
Nope. You can add Speech.
Now it’s time for all you Firepower 2 owners. Hard Top is asking for requests on Facebook. One of the choices is Firepower 2. Go!!!!
Joining the club soon! Will post once picked up. LOVE the cabinet on this game, and the speaker cover art as well!
Chris
It’s here!!! I would have bought it just for the cabinet. So awesome!
Quoted from trk12fire:Looks like a nice example of the game
Thanks. It’s pretty clean.
Got everything hooked up but it’s not starting a game. Seems like the outlane switch isn’t registering. Haven’t looked into it yet.
Looks good though!
