Hi guys, just joined the club today, have some reading to do, I've been almost all gottlieb ss until now.
For some reason my player 4 display just stopped

That digit was flickering on 1 and 3. I re-seated all connections after those photos and the single digit is now fine, but still no player 4, which was working before the 170 mile trip home. Will try swapping and check solder joints tonight,

The other thing, and the seller told me about, is that the flippers seem a little weak, like I have almost zero chance of making the top lock. Supposedly just rebuilt, I will be checking voltage and EOS tonight for a start. It is currently setup about 6.2-6.4 degrees which I understand may be a little steep for stock flippers.

thanks for the advice guys, really looking forward to getting this going well, is one of the few pins I recall playing much in my teenage years in the early 80s, video games ruled my life at the time.

So I checked out the flippers, and like the seller said they had definitely been done recently at least clean, new eos, fresh solder, I'm pretty sure they are wired right, maybe sorry for the not so great pics:

I burnished and adjusted the eos and the flipper button switches, tested things out, and no real change. Oh, and I did test the voltage, right at 30.

While testing that I noticed my left slingshot was rapid firing and took a peek and one of the switches there was kind of twisted so I figure that's the issue and pulled the plastic to check it out and then ended up raising the playfield and pulling it below so I could get at it. Definitely twisted, but the wiring doesn't seem right to me.. has a resistor and a diode that don't appear to do anything?? the other switch in the left sling does not have those, and the right slingshot is wired and setup the same, oh and even if it was hooked up right that diode is bad. another pic:

That doesn't seem right to me, and I don't see a resistor in my quick look at the wiring diagram, but I'm only familiar with gottlieb diagrams so may be missing something. how should this be?

so in that process I figured out my left sling plastic is broken, held together by a piece of clear tape on the bottom.. anybody have an extra old but not broken one lying about?

didn't get to the player 4 display issue yet, probably not till tomorrow, out of free time tonight. thanks.

No, I didn't get to taking them apart to check out the stops, that's next, and if I remember all the stuff I've read today it's built into the bracket?

yeah, I had to pull the switch to get it straight, but definitely will gap back in, just wanted to check on the wiring because that diode is bad so before I replaced I thought I'd check.

Quoted from Travish:

I have your plastic. It has a very small warp to it that I can heat and fix. Otherwise it's perfect. If it goes perfectly flat how about $10 shipped?[quoted image][quoted image]

Sounds great, Thanks! pm sent

I have a pretty new to me Firepower, and my first experience owning a system 6 (well actually anything outside Gottlieb), and have been having a few random resets, displays go blank everything dies except the audio which plays on. anyway reading through the threads the the bulletproofing guide sounds like a connector thing to me, so into the backbox I go. It appears a lot of the pin and socket replacement has already been done, but can someone fill me in on what this is? (sorry for blurriness)

thanks

ah ha! you have one of the early ones that was wired and setup for drop targets and may have originally had them, would be an easy conversion for you. right now the switch does nothing.

I noticed you have a mix of hit target styles though, some with the straight back and some with the 90 degree one. mine are all the 90 degree ones and I'm not sure I like them. anybody have thoughts on those? (ha)

no help on the rubbers, not sure on mine either.
