Quoted from VDrums2112:So speaking of hotdog inserts... Why would my original playfield have a blue FIRE insert and a red POWER insert? I've never seen another one like it. Don't have a pic handy at the moment.
-Steve
Found the pic of my reversed hotdog inserts on my old playfield.
Does anyone have any information on the custom FP ROMs that a guy named Scott does that have been talked about on the Slam Tilt Podcast?
-Steve
The custom Firepower code gives you 2X/3X during multiball, ball lock caching during multiball and 39K bonus ladder. The update requires you to change the MPU board to a sys7 board which then also gives the game support for 7 digit scoring - you'll also need to install 7 digit displays. Code is still beta.
By far one of the best mods I have made to my pinball machines is the system 7 mpu upgrade with custom roms firepower is soooo much more fun!
I did the level 7 upgrade years ago using Oliver Kaegi's "home ROM" - 7 digit scoring is where it's at for Firepower!

Quoted from paynemic:Anybody have this plastic in good shape they would sell me? Mine broke because the previous owner didn’t have a t-nut in there and the rubber eventually pulled the post over and broke it!!?
I should have one... it's original and therefore slightly age yellowed (I replaced it with a CPR) but nice other than that. I'll double check condition when I'm home late tomorrow. If you're still looking let me know!

I would definitely like to do this to mine. I can get an e-prom burned, just need to know where to buy the chip and get the code.

The code author has a thread about it on RGP.
You can get EPROM chips on Ebay, but more importantly you need to get a system 7 MPU board and 7 digit displays (you need to modify wiring to the displays to support the 7th digit). The stock system 6 MPU board Firepower has does not have enough memory (RAM) to support the new code.

Don't forget the system 7 display board, since it doesn't use an integrated display board/credit-match display like system 3-6. And, the associated cabling.

Anyone know if there's a way to use a System 6 board with modified software to enhance the game? I could swear I saw someone mention some "divide by 10" logic so that if you rolled it, it would should on a 6 digit display. Given that the last digit is always zero, it seems to be a bit of a waste.
Perhaps I was just dreaming...
You can download the divide by 10 modified ROMs from IPDB or just net search 'em. They're the way to go if all you want is to avoid score rollover and don't want to hack up your game for the 7 digit display mod.

I’m running Scott’s software on my Firepower at TPF right now. Giving it a serious burn in.

Okay, that's great to know, thanks. Are the modified game play ROMs only available if you do the system 7 board swap and the have 7 digit displays?

I'm only familiar with the offerings from many years back by Oliver Kaegi. At this point there are other ones out there and it seems some members in this thread have mentioned them.
I've looked over his page and it -seems- he offers a version that will do the divide by 10 so you can continue on the 6 digit hardware, but also has the altered gameplay extras. Either I've had too many beers tonight or my brain is soft for whatever reason but I'm uncertain if I'm reading it the right way, you may try contacting him. -visit http://www.kahr.us to get my daughterboard that helps fix WPC pinball resets or for my Williams system 3-7 sound board volume control solutions
Looks like a good candidate there, tatman. Playfield is great.
Anyone know where to get a repro sticker of what goes on the lockdown bar?
Got playfield out. Stripped down. Started sanding the crappy clear off that some one brushed on. 6 coils where locked on. Board is already repaired. Waiting for new coils. Looks for plastic set also. Looks like some one printed stickers and put them on the plastics.

Lockdown bar sticker? Are you talking about this warning label?

These people have most all firepower stickers in stock.
Anyone know where you can find insert decals for a Firepower II? Having trouble finding some.
Touched up the red and black. I clear coated the playfield. Thinking I may paint all the white also. Last person cleared with a brush and went over the dirt

Doing the white made a HUGE difference on mine, I’d suggest you do it. You can see my result in my resto thread.

What would cause roll over to not switch with right flipper. I just switched both flipper assembly’s with WPC . They are way stronger. The switch is making contact when I hit flipper but no light at roll overs. Was working before. Any thoughts?

Send me a pic of the plastic I may have it. Just put a CPR set on mine

How about the actual wiring to the lane change switch? I've done something as silly as knock off a poorly soldered wire and not noticed it. Has the wiring or switch grounded off to some nearby wire? Anything is possible if you just disassembled and reassembled it. If all that looks fine, try shorting the two connections on the switch with a small piece of wire. If that causes the lane change, then the switch may be bad/dirty contacts.

Thanks I will check that. I soldered them on. Any one have a pic of the wires and resistor so I can see if there on right.

From Outside Edge (the hard top overlay people): "Firepower is CLOSE!"
Anyone else getting a hard top for their Firepower?

I must of touched a wire to ground or something it I jump the two wires together it still doesn’t change.jist had 2 of the boards redone.
Quoted from tatman9999:Dose the shooter lane switch need to be activated to have roll overs to switch?
No. You can switch the rollovers whenever.
That is how I have it. I must of shorted some thing. When I push right flipper the green lights at the top doesn’t change. In game play the green lights do light it ball goes over the switch. Guess I need a wire diagram. Thanks for the pic.
Quoted from La_Porta:Send me your email address, I’ll send you all the diagrams.
Thanks for the diagrams. Got it fixed. The resistor on one side of switch was not on good. Has any one removed the gate at the top left? I took it off and the game has a nice orbit now. The WPC flipper replacement took care of the weak flippers they are nice and snappy now. Can hit the top lock all the time now.

I removed top right, after removing top left for a while. I just wanted to make building up F-I-R-E a bit less common.

You put them back on?
Quoted from tatman9999:Has any one removed the gate at the top left?
I took the gate off for TPF. I really like it....have to soft plunge to get FIRE and the orbit is cool.
But many players at TPF were plunging too hard and the ball would orbit through the spinner and drain. That's frustrating. I think I'll design a controlled gate that will be closed for a few seconds after plunge, then stay open until another ball is served.
