Check this out. I used the new Matrix system by Comet Pinball. Now I've got under cabinet LEDs. I plugged them into the FIRE and POWER sockets.

Hammer price at $911.00!!! Did anyone here get it??

Way too much for that playfield unless it's a Kruzman.

#507 4 years ago

What are the benefits of a Kruzman over NOS? I am unfamiliar.

Super easy. I spent about $20 on the Matrix system - A few long cables, 2 bulbs, and two LED strips. Done... I'm thinking about adding green LEDs behind each lock.

Ron Kruzman is a clearcoat specialist. Very high quality custom work. His work is slow and expensive, but the results are great.
NOS playfields are not clearcoated, but benefit in appearance and durability if properly cleared.

Question. Have any of you done LED's on your Firepower? I put some in a few spots on mine but didn't want to over do it. On the red and blue inserts I got the halo effect from single LED natural whites, so I took those out and put the incandescents back in. I liked the vivid look that the LED's gave for those spots but don't want the halo. I'd like to see what people have done on theirs.

#512 4 years ago

I think Firepower begs for LEDs. LED lights give this old pin a bright, crisp and modern look. I don't like replacing the GI lights with color, but color LED inserts look freaking great.

Firepower Pops.png

#513 4 years ago

Agreed. Yes for inserts, no for GI.

#514 4 years ago

Old video, prior to my playfield swap and new backglass. I think LEDs look great everywhere including the GI if you use the right colours. I have no incandescent bulbs anywhere in the machine. Keep in mind everyone has different opinions.

#515 4 years ago

Hey dzorbas, how did you install the green lights behind the locks?

#516 4 years ago
Quoted from Jumping-Box:

Hey dzorbas, how did you install the green lights behind the locks?

I grabbed 3 clear plastic saucers/locks (http://ns8313.hostgator.com/~gameshop/product/clear-eject-shield-03-9101-9-copy/) to replace the originals. I installed a regular socket with a green LED at each kickout and wired them to the flashing arrow near each hole. I used a flex head bulb for each one so I could avoid it getting hit by the arm. That's about it. Cheap and easy.

Let me know if you need any more info or pictures. I'm pretty sure if you hunt around the forum someone else has posted info on this.

Good luck!

Hey Firepower club... I'm looking for a new plastic set or several used/unbroken plastics for one of my Firepower machines. If you can help, kindly shoot me a PM.

Thanks in advance.

I might have found a score on a very well worn Firepower, but the add says the game works. On a scale of 1 - 10, how hard is it to restore this game from a 100% Noob standpoint?

I havent looked through the entire thread yet, as I am trying to jump on this game, but are there plastics and pf restorers or pf available?

Ok, now to check this thread out.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

#519 4 years ago

Depends on how much money you want to spend and likely not ever recoup. You can buy a lot of repro parts for it.

Ok cool, thanks for the advice. It was parts I was most worried about. The ad says it works, so that is a plus that way Im not trying to troubleshoot electrical issues right off the bat. They are asking $450 obo, which to me seems like a steel. The PF is very very worn though. I mean to the wood worn. Does that seem like a good price?

#521 4 years ago

That's on the high end for a very worn firepower. $200-$300 is closer to what they seem to go for.

#522 4 years ago

Agreed, that's high for a trashed playfield. Wait it out for a very nice one around 800 give or take. Much easier. I paid 300 for a trashed one and put about 900 in parts into it (cpr playfield, plastics, leds, etc) and still have a players cab and average backglass.

#523 4 years ago

Ok cool, thanks guys. I've asked how the sides look, but no response back yet.

I used the Comet fluted domes in the inserts and they look great, usually I only use them in the GI but tried a couple when I was doing my FP and they look amazing.

Famous last words. Chances are there are a few things not working or not working correctly on a game like this.

You didn't list what part of the world you are in. That can make a difference on the price and availability. In my experience, you will have to wait quite a while before finding a working firepower for $200-300 in my neck of the woods and when it comes up, it will go fast.

Also agree with catboxer. Its tough to recoup the cost of a new PF, plastic set and LEDs on this title. So do it for your own enjoyment or for the love of the machine, not as an investment...

That's why pinball receipts go the same way as race car receipts... straight into the trash. I don't track or want to know how much I spend.

We have a couple of sayings in racing that probably apply equally to pinball:

Race car: A device that turns money into noise.

How to make a small fortune racing: Start with a large fortune.

No reply back yet on the actual playable condition. If I were to buy it, it would be for somewhat sentimental reasons, as it's the first pin that I really played with any consistency as an arcade kid of the 80's, so it would be a keeper.

No new plastics are available. You would have to make your own, I had to, it sucked. PF restorers are around and repro fields are almost unobtanium, and out of production. If you have the right equipment, skill, and supplies you can probably bring what you have back to life. Like someone else already said, before you get in to deep be 100% sure that you are willing to keep it, or take a big loss on it if you decide to sell. Post pics!!

Excellent reason to own it!!! You can spend away then, but still try to get it for $200-300 lol

I agree, ran a A/fd (InjectEd nitro dragster) for a few years. That's why our car was called Expensive Noise!
Pinball is a whole lot cheaper.

Perfect reason to buy one. I too dropped almost all my quarters into Firepower at the roller rink! Just be warned, Firepower is a gateway pin..... it leads to purchasing more expensive titles. FP was my first almost 2 years ago.... now I have 8 total.

Well METLE was my gateway. My buddy heard early on it was a go and I didn't hesitate n but there won't be many of those. $$$$ pins in my house lol. I think I missed out on the Firepower though. If I was in town when it came up, it would have been mine..

a) High resolution image of this plastic suitable for making personal reproduction?

b) Need link to a seller (any source from "major online retailers" to small time sellers, even eBay) that has a reproduction, NOS, or used**
**I do not need a complete plastics set because all the other plastics are in very good condition.

c) Private sellers on pinside who want to PM me to negotiate

Hopefully someone on here will come through but I have had decent luck finding partial original plastics on eBay. Never saw individual plastics at retailers. There are some full CPR repro sets that come up from time to time.

Hi mof,

Setting "Maximum Credits" (Function 18) to zero gets you free play mode. Factory setting is "30", set to "00" in game adjustment menus using switches on inside of coin door.

Thanks Schwaggs,

I will keep an eye out for partials on eBay. I have found some individual or pairs of plastics at retailers for other pins. I did join the Firepower club late relative to when CPR ran plastics (& playfields).

Truly appreciate the response. Any chance you could take a clean decent resolution photo of the left plastic at a right angle with no flash at your convenience?

I curious, did you buy it or not? Firepower is also in my heart, and stressing over saving a hundred dollars or so is not worth it. Lucky for us, compared to other pins Firepower is affordable.

I lucked out and got mine about 6 months ago for $600 CDN which is about $450 USD using an exchange rate of $1.35. I highly doubt you're going to find one for any less than $700-800 USD.

This NOS playfield went for $911 USD on eBay in November, just for reference...
