I need the one way gate/flap thingy at the top of the shooter lane on a 1950 Gottlieb Knock Out.

Quoted from dropdeadhippie:

Finished up with my 1950 Gottlieb knockout but there is one last thing that's driving me nuts. The game has a star rollover/insert where there should be a round one. So I'm desperately trying to track down the correct rollover button and insert. I've been looking around for one for over a year now but no luck. I got one that appeared close to correct but the hole the white button went through was way too big so the white button just flopped around all over.
The star rollover looks out of place and I'd really like to put this final issue to bed. Anyone who has the correct insert, button assembly please help me out here!
Looks like correct insert should be red and measure about 1 3/16". This is a pic from ipdb of the correct assembly

Thanks,
Matt
KO_Rollover.jpg 21 KB

I have a 65 Williams lucky strike wall hanger that has the old style roll overs. I do think the inserts are the same size as gottlieb used.
I would have to pull the PF off the wall and pull a insert out it get a good measurement
if they are the same you can have one

i found the guts for the abra head, now i need a few other parts to make it complete.
anyone have the following
used backglass just has to be presentable( i am sure someone upgraded to a new webb glass)
plastics i need them all but the top center, the others are all broken to some degree

#113 5 years ago
Quoted from hoov:

My Abra bg will be available as soon as Ron finishes the latest Bank a Ball run and ships both glasses.
My current glass is just "ok" but I' m throwing it out there in case you can't find one.

just OK is fine shoot me a pm with info

#135 5 years ago

71-& 75 are the same
what titles?

#147 5 years ago

o-din i checked and don't have any inset necks, so get the one mike has

#149 5 years ago

ok did we just convert the williams guy? lmao
we have been trying to tell ya that they are great players, not that early williams didn't some good players but gottlieb was at the top of their game with the wedgeheads
you imo got the best of the flipper series so now to get a great early 60's replay wedgehead

#153 5 years ago

skyline is a game you would like, very hard to get a good game, but when you do it gets your heart pumping.
never owned one but i get to play it often at a friends place
gottlieb 63-73 are the best years IMO
i always like the games that beat me more than i beat it. those easy to beat games or ones you can never beat never stay very long.

#177 5 years ago
Quoted from dasvis:

Still looking for a backbox for my headless 1968 Gottlieb Royal guard......... Really hate to part this thing out, It's actually in really nice shape.

don't give up hope, i just got a abra ca dabra that was missing the guts to the head.
i found it in less than 2 weeks. i thought it would take much longer. i got lucky.
you might try looking for the guts like i did and the find a head to put them in
the head can be repainted to match

#186 5 years ago
Quoted from dasvis:

Well, the cabinet does need a bit of work anyway. Looks like an easy paint pattern to reproduce... I think the reason the head is missing is because it was probably broken off in some sort of a fall. There is evidence of damage in the rear of the cabinet - the back is split & will either need to be replaced or repaired.
The playfield & inside are pristine.. even the legs are perfect & rust free ... hell the levelers had NO wear on the bottom.

it sounds like it is worth saving! don't give up I will keep my eye out for you.
there are out there it might take some time.

#188 5 years ago

i am bringing a AcD back from the dead and need some plastics
I know pinball rescue sell a new repro set but i have only 120 bucks in this machine and don't want to spend more on plastics than the machine is worth
all the plastic are really bad except the top center
so if you have any of the others let me know i will take just one if that is all you have. not to picky so they can be cracked but would like them not to be broken
i most likely will have to get the 2 small ones from pinball rescue as they are always broken
lmk if anyone can help me out

#202 5 years ago

I had the complete AcD light board shipped from Idaho to pa for 30 bucks
and I am sure that I could help fill in the missing parts
hope dave didn't cut the wires to short when removing parts. reconnecting them would be a little harder but doable

#225 5 years ago

DaC and PaC reels are round not 10 sided, as jr said they were changing from flash bronze to zinc plate on this title
so you will find a mix of bronze / zinc parts in those

#227 5 years ago

I have a sample DaC it is round
6-71 4 square were 10 sided had bronze hardware
10-71 astro were 10 sided had zinc hardware
11-71 drop a card were round so it looks like they made the change with drop a card
3-72 flying carpet round
3-72 pop a card round

Looking for a Slick Chick metal apron still......

that is a hard one to find in great shape, I have needed one for some time. I did the overlay w/ webbing on a spare apron until I do find one

#254 5 years ago
Quoted from Pinball_Nate:

Hey Boilerman, I had the same idea - saw some stickers for that era apron - but think they were located in Denmark or somewhere?!?....... I'd take one that just fits at this point.
Did you make the overlay yourself? You can charge me to do another one!

http://www.pinballrescue.net/Decals_Apron_Gottlieb.html
the problem with these is the webbing is missing. I paint the apron white then spray silver webbing then apply the overlay. looks way better than a rusty apron but would really like to have a OEM
I have done this to most style gottlieb aprons and they come out nice, the later 70's style did not have webbing they even look better

#255 5 years ago

i'll see if I have a picture of a apron with the overlay

that apron looks like silver splatter not webbing? foto finish had the splatter not webbing?
that style was only use on late 60-63 single players I believe

1-61 "foto finish" 1st
4-64 'World Fair' last

I did it to my el dorado

How many jones plugs 2?
How many pins per plug?
I think I have a spare from a bronco

#270 5 years ago

the webbing under the overlay is hard, I lightly sanded it and it worked but not 100% like when done without
I may try to web over the overlay and see how that looks

#271 5 years ago

kingpinman the bronco stepper is 10/18 will not fit
if you find the parts I will help make one for you

if the pf is in good shape and complete you should consider finding someone to use it in a working machine and make a table out of a c list title

#286 5 years ago

if it is rough no one would want it so might as well use it for something, I have a set of rails if you make it up my way

#287 5 years ago
Quoted from John_in_NC:

Steve Young has all these but the pink I think. It'll cost you though, like $12 each. http://pbresource.com/pfbumper.htm

the repros do not have the marble effect. I think they look bad but if you have nothing than they are all you have to work with

I really like those early pf that had a lot of bare wood showing with colorful art. unlike the later pf that had big spots of one color.

Question,
I need a white 2 1/8" opaque lane guide (flat/smooth on top) for my '63 Rack a Ball I'm shopping. I see PBR has them. Do the new ones match old existing ones on games as far as the color? If they do I'll just order one from PBR because I only need one. If the new ones stand out because they're bright white and not "aged" yet, I'll buy one from someone here if they have one laying around.

rab lane guide 001.JPG 146 KB

i

that looks a little whiter than any used white ones I have in the parts bin
a new one from pbr might be a closer match
here is one of the few I have

20140916_161244.jpg
#377 5 years ago
Quoted from CactusJack:

Some of the earlier ones were "marblized" too. The new ones are not.

the white ones are hard to tell or see the marble effect unlike the colored ones that stand out.
they are easier to mix with oem ones, the aged color is the part that would make it stand out though

Looking for the metal triangle piece that goes to a Ball Count Stepper on a 1975 Gottlieb single player. It's basically a big weighted washer. It's the one where the 3 screws go into it shown in the close up photo and you can actually see the outline of the old one.
Mine was missing when I bought it, but works fine, just like having a complete original setup if possible.

I wish pinball rescue would do more partial sets, many game only ever have one or two bad plastics but you are forced to buy the whole set.
as far as your plastic I highly doubt you find anyone with a good one, they are always broken.
just send the 20 you won't be sorry they do great work
shipping is the only killer I always try to wait until I need a few things to offset the high shipping

those chutes are very hard to find and if you do they don't come cheap.
I bought a couple parts machines just for those.......

#544 4 years ago
Quoted from jrpinball:

The rounded ended ones are more scarce and can be pricey. Many pinfolk aren't aware of this however.

if you need the plastic above the drop targets that is the one almost always broken. you might have a hard time finding it. might have to buy the whole set to get it.

#674 4 years ago
Quoted from hoov:

Someone probably bought a set for a nice game and kept their old ones. I usually find someone that has their old ones laying around. I have pretty good luck asking on rgp (and here).

I always keep the old set to help people out but in this set the one above the drops is the one most people are buying the set to replace. you never know someone might have it
good luck on your quest!
as far as is it worth it? if the game is in nice shape is say go for it. I think it was a great game with a great layout.

Anyone happen to know what the modern-day equivalent is of this fluorescent ballast?

It says 110V, 60 Cycle AC, Line amp .35 (I think; might be 118V.) It's for a 13W T5 style fluorescent bulb. The original Robertson Transformer catalog # is S-113. It uses an FS-4 starter (not shown).
I've poked around a bit online, but I'm not up to speed on fluorescent ballasts and such yet. I figure there must be a modern replacement, as the T5 bulbs and FS-4 starters are readily available.
Xformer.jpg 16 KB

I use these as replacements. http://www.ballastshop.com/wh1-120-l.html

I know I can get bright white new ones from PBR, but does anyone have nice yellowed ones that are around 40 years old - the bright white would look out of place on the 72 Grand Slam I'm working on.

I think I have most of the guts to a spin a card head (next yr 69)
the real issue is all the wiring, I am sure I would never try to rebuild the head with just parts.
that would be one hell of a job.
I would think that someone has a RG that is trashed, a complete light board would be the way to go.
have you posted a wanted ad on RGP and Mr Pinball
that would be were I would start.

#814 4 years ago
Quoted from dasvis:

I have the lightboard & backbox (thanks Hoov), & the backglass (thanks, ccotenj)
The wiring is clipped fairly close to where it's supposed to go. I don't think the score reels, credit wheel, or bell will be a big deal, it's the stepper unit & the relay bank that are a bit worrysome.

I did not know you had the better part of the head guts.
what parts are missing? everything but wiring?

For Gottlieb 1969 Target Pool. I'm after the large stepper that bolts under the playfield and plugs in on two Jones plugs. The one that controls the lighting of the yellow arrow inserts. Also a lock down bar. Anybody broken a game or planning to do so?

I have a few of the correct welded end cap lock bars if interested. but that stepper will have to come from someone parting out a machine. if you feel adventurous you could rewire a similar one to work, but be forewarned it is a lot of work and good schematic skills are a must!

big hurt being the best. I think I still have a spare glove motor if you ever need one.

Damn, I tried. I have a Mayfair in waiting for restore with what looked like a replaced insert, I found the original in the cabinet base, I popped out the mismatched one without a keyline on it only to find it was a flat piece of plastic someone fit into the hole. I do have a bunch of these in a wall hanger El Dorado playfield but hate to wreck the look for one or two of the inserts. Now if you can make it worth my while with maybe a pbr ring kit for Quick Draw or Mayfair, I'd do it.

I thought they were 3/4" thinking that they were smaller than the reg 1" ones
I pulled a white one from an old pf a guess what TO SMALL! it is a 7/8" insert.
it is a odd ball size that I will be lucky to find in any color

#1158 4 years ago

Quoted from Shapeshifter:

Darn it!
And I might need two as one looks like it may be non working......

if complete you should be able to make it work. missing is another story.
I know I have passed on machines that had those missing, knowing I would have a hard time replacing them.
even though we for the most part don't drop coins. them machine looks bare missing them.

One of mine is missing the reject cover - no idea if it will or won't work without it.

I would be happy if they just had the chute and the cover, won't work without the cover. I never drop coins but some purist want the coin mech to work

thinner 60's webbing -- 2oz paint 4 thimble of thinner - test add a little more if needed-- 50 to 60 psi

no problem, just get a few extra cans of paint and practice on cardboard until you get the hang of it.

these are not cheap

#1916 3 years ago
Quoted from 1974DeltaQueen:

That's what I heard . We to to PBR no luck and Marco I couldn't find them on his site. I wonder if I'm better off waiting for a flea market playfield and then run the posts in my tumbler .
I have a spare game but I really don't want to canibalize a complete pin.

no retailers ever sold them, back in the day pbr had a small stash, but those are long gone. i never found a metal post game that i couldn't save so i never had a stash of them. did pick up some cheap when you could find deals on ebay but those day are long gone.
i would not cannibalize them from a good game. i would just use plastic post until you could amass the 12 you need over the course of time. pick up a few here and there. they still will cost between 2-7 dollars if or when you find them.
good luck to the hunt.

Did they come with a 2-coin slot setup? All the ones I've ever seen (including mine) came with 3-coin slots? Just curious.
Also noticed that one Sing Along that's on the IPDB shows it with the newer style coin entry plate with the back-lit plastic coin labels (BELOW).

In checking the database, looks like Sing Along was the last Gottlieb game that used the old-style (no plastic) entry plates (BELOW). Maybe they switched over in mid run?

I have a Surf Champ, complete game. Have tried to sell it, no success, shipping always kills the deal. I figure the game is worth $625 or so, and looking at the game, it is probably worth around or more than that number parted out. The glass is pretty nice; the lockdown bar is very nice, the door is straight and nice, the playfield is way better than most, apron is great, arch is great, plastics and bodies and caps and drop targets are good, the KS and FS relays are there, and I think the legs are new. Plus lots of score reels , and the pops, flipper and sling and drop target assemblies.
Link to pics of the game http://s298.photobucket.com/user/jgrenuk/library/SurfChamp?sort=2&page=1
If you are interested in the game, LMK. If you are interested in parts, LMK what you are looking for. Game is on the east coast of central Florida.
And please, let's not go down the "this is a travesty, it doesn't deserve this, save the game" road. If you want me to save the game, send me $625

wow! that is way above average condition. if you sold it for an even 500 i would consider shipping it at around 345. that would make it a 850ish game to me.
