Quoted from o-din:

The same guy has a Skyline, it is in decent shape, but he wants good money for it. With two inch flippers and the grand canyon for outlanes, it does look pretty tempting.

Skyline doesn't have the legs that other games from this era have. But it is one of the best looking games out there.

The center wheel where you can get any of the numbers overcompensates the difficulty you want to keep it a balanced game.

I'm sure you can adjust it to be more challenging. But if you are looking for challenging there are more challenging games out there.

I just parted out a Williams Derby Day, and a Paul Bunyan. Have lots of misc. parts. If anyone need anything, let me know.

#153 5 years ago

skyline is a game you would like, very hard to get a good game, but when you do it gets your heart pumping.
never owned one but i get to play it often at a friends place
gottlieb 63-73 are the best years IMO
i always like the games that beat me more than i beat it. those easy to beat games or ones you can never beat never stay very long.

The Big Casino I am working on is pretty challenging, but the art package is not that appealing to me. Especially with the repainted cabinet. But I am going to finish it up and play the heck out of it before it moves on. He has quite a few other wedgeheads to move, So I will assess them as they come up for sale. He is now into old furniture instead.

what condition is the apron in on the bunyan?

#156 5 years ago

big casino art is pretty crappy, doesn't tie in with theme well

It figures you'd pick a part that's gone

Here are pics of the one I had 10 years ago. It was a gorgeous example, just too much work in the game play for too little reward. I will say the advancing "Big Casino" letters was a unique feature.

Well, if my Big Casino looked like that, I might be inclined to keep it around for awhile. But with the yellow repaint on the cab, and the backglass in sad shape, it is pretty tough to look at for an extended period of time.

#160 5 years ago

Even looking that good, the Big Casino I had was around for less than a month.

#161 5 years ago

Sad to say, mine is destined to be here a little longer than that.

#162 5 years ago

O-Din,

I did a quick look at your wishlist and saw Sea Ray on there. If you want a challenging game that is also rewarding, Sea Ray will fit your bill. It can be quite challenging with the huge outlanes. But it has enough other stuff going for it that you have enough different ways to stay in the game.

Sea Ray was the first game my parents' got. I got into the hobby and they thought it would be good to look for some games to put in the basement for the grandkids. They put an ad in the Thrifty Nickel and Sea Ray showed up. The people they got it from said it was given to them so they gave it to my parents.

Good luck in your search.

Sea Ray is one of those games from my youth that has eluded me. There is one on CL right now, but with lousy pics. Rob tried to get some better pics to spare us the drive, but the guy didn't respond. I know a lot of people don't like pointy people, but this is a beautiful machine when it is all lit up.

Tim Arnold calls it "Big Albino". It's one of those love/hate wedgeheads. The game basically sucks, but it has a certain charm. Same thing with "Stock Car".

I quit! I'm not sinking another dime or ounce of energy into that Big Casino! I just used up it's last bit of charm trying to fix one of the stepper units.

This machine is used up. Anybody need any parts?

#166 5 years ago

This Big Casino is so far the hardest game I've ever dealt with. I bought a machine that literally should have been parted out or thrown in the dumpster decades ago. But for some reason someone held on to it. And somehow such a difficult game got played to the point where it is no longer playable. It was patched up many times over. There must be a reason for this. i am not ready to give up yet. Somebody slap me.

Quoted from o-din:

It's a simple fix o-din.

Just replace the Head, Playfield, and Cabinet and when you are done with that it may just need a fuse.

The fuses are the only good parts left. lol.

#169 5 years ago

There was a Big Casino up for silent auction at PAGG this year. I played it, hoping to love it and bring it home but I just couldn't do it. Even for charity. Opening bid was $450, I believe. No takers...didn't sell...

#170 5 years ago

So a poll must be added. Should I resurrect this one and bring it back to it's former ungloriousness? Or should I gut it and make a bon fire out of the rest on the Fourth of July. I'm open to suggestions. If anybody thinks my energy would be better spent on a different project, I'm all for it. But I hate to start something I can't finish.

#171 5 years ago

I don't let any of them die. I even restored a Magnotron once.

Bring it back, O-din. It needs you...

But, seriously, make it a player, don't worry about cosmetics or profit. But please don't kill it.

#172 5 years ago

If I was worried about cosmetics or profit, I wouldn't have touched this machine with a ten foot pole! But I saw the opportunity for a challenging game to play. But that King on the backglass is the dividing line. He's got a face that only his mother can love.

You could pick up the two cheap Mariner pins Rick from planetary is selling, make one nice one and sell the other.
Just the 4 player version of sea ray. So at least you get the same game play.

Yeah, but he's got all those babes playing cards with him. He must be "big" as Tim Arnold says in one of his early tapes.

Still looking for a backbox for my headless 1968 Gottlieb Royal guard......... Really hate to part this thing out, It's actually in really nice shape.

i wonder if "we" (the em community) could piece one together for you... there aren't any unique parts in it, although the wiring harness might be tough to acquire...

i have a bg that i'd donate to the cause, it is burnt pretty bad in the "guard" lettering, but otherwise not too bad...

lets get that royal guard back to life...

don't give up hope, i just got a abra ca dabra that was missing the guts to the head.
i found it in less than 2 weeks. i thought it would take much longer. i got lucky.
you might try looking for the guts like i did and the find a head to put them in
the head can be repainted to match

#178 5 years ago

^^^

yea, that's kind of along the lines of what i was thinking... i've got a bg and "empty" heads are available... just gotta find (or piece together) the guts...

#179 5 years ago

Looking for enough wax lacing to do one jones plug that doesn't have any on it. Can't find for sale and would like original if anyone has any?

Well, the cabinet does need a bit of work anyway. Looks like an easy paint pattern to reproduce... I think the reason the head is missing is because it was probably broken off in some sort of a fall. There is evidence of damage in the rear of the cabinet - the back is split & will either need to be replaced or repaired.
The playfield & inside are pristine.. even the legs are perfect & rust free ... hell the levelers had NO wear on the bottom.

I'm looking for some Williams 2" alloy flippers with good shafts.

i am bringing a AcD back from the dead and need some plastics
I know pinball rescue sell a new repro set but i have only 120 bucks in this machine and don't want to spend more on plastics than the machine is worth
all the plastic are really bad except the top center
so if you have any of the others let me know i will take just one if that is all you have. not to picky so they can be cracked but would like them not to be broken
i most likely will have to get the 2 small ones from pinball rescue as they are always broken
lmk if anyone can help me out

Yep, PM me your address and tell me how many feet you need.

It'll be more than a week before I can send it out though, as I'm out of town at the moment. Poke me again if I forget.

I am looking for the left slingshot plastic for Williams Pit Stop. I would take both if available to make sure colors matched.

I've got a Royal Guard head but pretty much all the sought-after parts are cut out of there. The score reels, credit unit, bells, etc.. The backglass is toast. Plus, I'm in Illinois. I thought I'd throw it out there. The head was complete seven years ago when I got it and I have been robbing parts ever since. I have probably fixed 10 - 15 pinball machines off of this parts game.

that would be a good start if the wiring harness still exists...

to quote the great herm edwards, "we can build on this!"...

Well, ccotenj donated a backglass to the project, so I have that covered (thanks!). I only paid $50 for the cabinet & playfield, so I have some wiggle room on sinking more $$ into it. If you are offering it up & can ship I am interested.
Is the wiring mostly complete, ie. cut close to where it is supposed to go? I can come up with the other stuff eventually.
Much appreciated - Dasvis

Any one have a Chicago Coin gun game parts game? I'm looking for the recoil asm. Part should be the same for all models with the recoil feature.
Thanks

Wouldn't it be something if the serial numbers matched. Reunited and it feels so gooood...

Sounds good but I have the matching base too - a complete parts game

Anybody have a "Drop-A-Card" ('71 Gottlieb) they need some parts for?
Here's a machine being parted out just down the road from me. Another pin bites the dust.
