I need the Number 2 plastic for my Flip A Card.

If someone has that loose or an entire used set I'd like to buy it.

Thanks,

Bert

Looking for a 200 point target from a Roto Target on aJet Spin. Would like to get the complete single target....metal part is broke in half and would like to match the age of the paper on the 200 with the other targets.

I could really use the three spinners for Swing Along.

Where has it broken? I had one broken off on my Spin Out. It was broke near where the metal is riveted in the root with the two brass rivets. Behind the springy metal is a thick metal support. I simply cleaned that metal up for about 1/4", did the same to the target spring metal and soldered it back on. It's worked just fine ever since.

I could use a cashbox for my hurdy gurdy and 1950 knockout.

Steve at PBR just overhauled my Super Spin roto target...it had several broken arms that had been poorly repaired, and one dangling. Just a few days turnaround, reasonable cost, and fabulous workmanship. If you have all of the targets, I'd highly recommend this route.

#107 5 years ago

Pinbee,
It's really useful to know PBR will repair roto's.

#108 5 years ago

Thanks for the responses

Nick - previous owner did a good solder job like you did and it's holding well but It's a 100 point target making one too many 100's on the disk. The disk also had a few targets taken off but put back on in the wrong place. I think the guy may have used the disk for frisbee golf or something

Pin bee - thanks, I talked to PBR and he could refurb like you said. Now if I can just stop being the cheap, want to do it myself, and not take the game out of play kinda of guy, I may just send it to him.

My Abra bg will be available as soon as Ron finishes the latest Bank a Ball run and ships both glasses.

My current glass is just "ok" but I' m throwing it out there in case you can't find one.

Just picked up a Buccaneer with a couple of missing plastics - A16233R and A16233L - and the wrong spinner - I need A-16439. I can get a complete plastic set from PBR but really need only the two noted as the others look mint. I can probably make a decal of the spinner but a nice shiny new one would be way groovy.

buccaneer missing plastics.jpg

I ordered a complete set of plastics from PBR today, so don't need those two any longer. But still want that spinner.

I'm pretty sure I have an NOS spinner for Bucaneer. I'll look tonight. It wasn't cheap when I picked it up.
If I have it $35 shipped will get it.

I bought a NOS Buccaneer/Ship Ahoy spinner from Mayfair a couple years ago. While it was NOS, it did have a few scratches/nicks. It's an item you'd have to call about though (it may have been the last one...).

I would be interested in it if you have it. PM me please when you find it.

I will check out Mayfair if Mike O doesn't have one. Thanks for the info,

i too need a buccaneer spinner !!! Steve at PRB said he had likely the 'last' nos one out there?? and his wasn't for sale

i don't need an NOS, and can make a decal if need be .. but if anyone has a lead let me know .. i may do up a nice black decal with pink skull and cross bones ... we will see

#121 5 years ago

I've seen so many "Buccaneer" and "Ship Ahoy" machines with the checkerboard spinner, that I'm beginning to think maybe Gottlieb wanted to use them up and so they put them on some machines right from the get go.

#122 5 years ago

mine came with a surf champ spinner

#123 5 years ago

I'm not sure, but these two are possibly the last game Gottlieb made with the metal spinner and so maybe they wanted to use up whatever they had around. I can't imagine so many games had the spinners removed and somehow swapped with a different one. Later games with spinners had wider plastic ones.

Steve told me today that he is investigating reproducing spinners, and Buccaneer is the trial run.

My original spinner was inside the machine, so maybe they were just poorly constructed.

#125 5 years ago

What does the original Buccaneer spinner look like?

Steve

#126 5 years ago

It has crossbones on one side, and a skull-like shape on the other side. When it spins quickly, it gives the illusion of a skull and crossbones.

The only game after "Buccaneer" and "Ship Ahoy" which used a metal spinner is "Surf Champ"/"Surfer". The Italian export "High Seas" is later by a few months though. I would imagine they used whatever they had on hand to use up the existing stock of metal spin targets. Maybe not, but there does seem to be many of these games around with the 'wrong' spinner.

It was a popular game, and the spinner is the main shot and a direct hit from the flippers. They took a lot of abuse and probably just broke. They carried the spare spinner in the parts catalog for a few years afterwards too. I doubt they needed to substitute during production.

#129 5 years ago

You may be right, but then why were so many replaced with the checkerboard style and not the correct one? Of course we wouldn't know if games with the correct spinner ever had them replaced or not.
Well, hopefully Steve at PBR will get them repro'd. This would be the one to do for sure. "Fun Land"/"Fun Park", and of course "Swing Along" would be good ones to remake as well.

#130 5 years ago

Probably because the distributors over ordered them and that is what they had in stock to sell the operators. Not so much what Gott. may have had to sell them. I used to see the blue square 10 spinner from King Kool on all sorts of games it did not come with.

But as Dirt said, it probably took a lot of abuse and perhaps even Gottleib ran out of the proper one and more than likely, was not about to do another run of screening years after. So operators used what they could get.

Jungle was another one.

Anyone out there finished their Wade Fast/Quick Draw playfield swap and have a respectable used P/F they want to sell? As well as a used plastic set? I just picked up a real beater and would like to upgrade it a little. This one is badly planked at the bottom so it will wear fast (more than it already has). I know new Plastics are available from PBR but the rest of the game doesn't really deserve a brand new set.

We had a flood in our storeroom last year and I'm looking for a couple of 70s wedgehead cabinets in So Cal to replace our waterlogged ones. Not sure off the top of my head if they're the same, but one is for a '71 and the other is for a '75.

Hopefully within driving distance of So Cal. I know, it's a longshot but if it saves me building another cabinet, it's worth a try.

Cheers,
Art.

71-& 75 are the same
what titles?

Gene Lewin of Vintage Arcades in Glendale just picked up a parts Duotron from the last Auction. He might be willing to sell you the lower cabinet if one of the heads is still salvagable.

I only need the lower cabinets, thankfully, the heads were stored separately. They're for an Abra Ca Dabra and an Aquarius. I don't mind repainting a cabinet.

Will the Duotron (2 player) work for a wedgehead? I can't think of any differences. If so, I'll check in with Gene. I drive by his spot all the time.

I believe they are. The only thing I can think of that MIGHT be different would be the bolt patern for the head bolts and possibly the pedestal but both are easily modified to match.

#140 5 years ago

I'm looking for the center pop cap as the one I have is melted through from the lamp. Don't really want new white as I'm polishing up all the old plastics and prefer the slightly yellowed look.

Green sun that says "advance", slant top.

I could use the wood pedestal for the head on my recently acquired Gottlieb flipper. It fits most early wedgheads. Preferably with original paint. Thanks! It looks like I may also need one score reel assembly for the Big Casino of the same era.

Something like this perhaps?

And which score reel? (1's, 10's, 100's). I have a box of various ones I think.

Pretty sure I have one. Do you need the score reel too, or just the stepper assembly?

Send me an email and we'll work out the particulars.

The reel also. This one got cooked. I will take inventory and see if there is anything else I might need. Please hold that pedestal until I do. Thank you very much!

The Duotron cabinet will work for both games. If I am not mistaken the hole layout for the main relay boards in the bottom of the cabinet is mostly the same also. Don't hold me to it but I have swapped cabinets before with minimal effort. Even put a late Gottlieb EM main relay board into an early Gottlieb System 1 body cabinet and the holes lined up for the main relay board. Even if they don't line up, that will be the worst thing you need to deal with.

o-din i checked and don't have any inset necks, so get the one mike has

#148 5 years ago

Thank's for looking boilerman. I will get Mike's. I am really loving that Flipper. I guess if I am going to collect wedgeheads, I might as well start with the first and work my way up. But with everything else I have there is only room for so many. Glad I got this one.

#149 5 years ago

ok did we just convert the williams guy? lmao
we have been trying to tell ya that they are great players, not that early williams didn't some good players but gottlieb was at the top of their game with the wedgeheads
you imo got the best of the flipper series so now to get a great early 60's replay wedgehead

#150 5 years ago
Quoted from boilerman:

That's pretty funny! I had a couple of nice wedgies before. KoD and Buckaroo. But when I got that Big Daddy I found it a lot harder to beat. Or should I say it beats me and everyone that plays it. Flipper is similar in toughness. I guess I just like hard games from the early 60s. Both companies seemed to be making high quality games at that time from what I can tell. But Gottlieb kept the quality going a lot longer. All the way till the end of the EMs.

The same guy has a Skyline, it is in decent shape, but he wants good money for it. With two inch flippers and the grand canyon for outlanes, it does look pretty tempting.
