Quoted from DropTarget:Thanks, I considered that. I'm not certain that the missing "spring wire things" (I like saying that) are the same length and shape of the remaining one. Odds are they are though.

Use brass wire...
Quoted from MarkG:Hmm. Doesn't look like it. From the 1966 Williams parts catalog:
Great, Thank you Mark.
Off to the music store.......
Of course, I'd still prefer original parts!
"Use brass wire..."
good idea
Quoted from Murphdom:Good ol’ Steve at PBR sells piano wire for all your “spring wire thing” and other needs
lol,
Steve already holds the 2nd mortgage on my house!
I'm not sure if his wire is thin enough. The page says "to make your own ball gate" I need much finer gauge. Plus I'd hate to pay shipping for a 2 dollar part (again!). I'll talk to him on Monday if the local stores don't have stock.
Quoted from DropTarget:"Use brass wire..."

I've never seen brass wire with the same yield properties as spring piano wire. Good luck if you use it.
Quoted from JethroP:I've never seen brass wire with the same yield properties as spring piano wire. Good luck if you use it.
It looks like the original wire is brass. It's stiff, but not so much that you can't bend it by hand. As it turns out the wire from a pop bumper spring would work gauge wise, but it's too stiff, at least for me, to wrap such a small radius.
Edit: the small spring from a pop bumper assembly is the correct gauge and is flexible enough to reshape.

PM me your address and I’ll send one out Monday.

Thanks, Murph! Sending PM
Quoted from goldenboy232:Hi guys, I’ve got more of the wooden wedgehead faces available. I just sold two of them this morning, so I do have a third one available if interested. The cost is $45 plus shipping.

Weekend bump. I still have two of these with very minor flaws (easily solved with a bit of filler and sanding -- and I'll send you a video so you can see before I ship). Reduced to $40 apiece plus shipping. Already packed them together if someone wants both. PM if interested.

Long shot, but if someone has a Gottlieb 300/Top Score playfield available it would be greatly appreciated.
Quoted from PinballAir:The pbr piano wire sampler kit comes with different gauge wires from thick to thin.
Thanks to you for the info and Jethro for the suggestion.
I needed up using a 17 gauge guitar string. It's a tiny bit thinner than the originals, but the new springs work just fine. I may heat treat them, but it's probably not necessary.
I used a transfer punch, just slightly smaller that the radius needed. Put it in a variable speed drill and wound the coiled portion around that. Piece of cake.
IMG_8343 (resized).JPGAnybody got an extra black plastic switch-cover for a Gottlieb? The Jungle I'm shopping out doesn't have one.

they did not start using those until a year later. yours should just have shrink tube over the solder tabs.
i do install the all the same

rixzilla has one on Ebay. Contact him here directly.
Quoted from DropTarget:I have a file if you have a 3d printer
Funny I was just working on a new 3D printer file that will not require as much support material but will still look just like the original Gottlieb covers. Basically I print the top of the cover separately and attach it to the base and side walls with a tiny bit of glue after printing.

Can you make the Gottlieb cabinet parts from the 1970's?
Hi. Can someone tell me what they used for the apron graphics or overlay for a 1955 gottlieb southern belle? The one im working in is bare wood. Thank you

Good to know! Yes, it has the shrink tube over the solder tabs. Ok cool -- one more item checked off the list! Thanks, Boilerman!

PBR sells them

Lol,
Sooooo, I went and made these springs......
It turns out PBR has them for a couple of bucks! Still, it was gratifying to fabricate the part.
I think your idea was awesome.
I love that: hmmmm what do I have lying around......and how can i use a tool i have to make it into what i need......
One of my favorite parts pf the hobby.
A fine job.
Steve young has all kinds of stuff if you can get him on the phone.
Quoted from PinballAir:I think your idea was awesome.
Thanks, but it wasn't my idea, credit where credit is due...twas Jethro's idea.
But yes, it did feel good recreate the parts at home.
Quoted from PinballAir:Steve young has all kinds of stuff if you can get him on the phone.
I haven't had to wait very long to get through recently, as a matter of fact, he's picked up on my first try numerous times in the past few months.
I emailed Jimmy on Saturday about the parts, he responded 1st thing this morning (Monday). I had already fabricated the springs by then.
I need... a 8 1/2 inch bally shooter rod to a Mata Hari (EM). PBR/Marco only have the pointy knob. I like my knobs smooth. The one I have is too chewed up on the restro project Im working on.
thx
ken
Jimmy is very good about turning around parts from email but i dont think he has the knowledge of their inventory that steve does.
Quoted from PinballAir:Jimmy is very good about turning around parts from email but i dont think he has the knowledge of their inventory that steve does
He doesn't, but it was a Saturday, so I emailed instead of calling.
I asked Steve about a round knob for Bally Mystic last fall. He suggested I grind down the pointy one it came with.

PBR has a nice off brand (Bruswick) shooter rod on their Specials page, part # K-55-101764-003. It might not be appropriate for a purist but it's harmless and works well.

good ol Steve!
Quoted from waltrr:Hey Gang,
Anyone happen to have a yellow 100,000 point domed deco cap to match the old one on the right they can part with?
I did purchase new ones from Steve, on the left, but they just don't cut it for me. Cash or trade, LMK
Thanks!!

Auto Race! Looks like the mold cuter did not take into consideration that the font is bold.
If all else fails... Some careful Frisket and a blue Sharpy pen could repair the hot stamping.

Auto Race it is. And actually the fonts don't bother me as much as the bright white does
Quoted from Murphdom:What size roll pins are used in flipper linkage?
.125 X .500 or 1/8" X 1/2"
Quoted from Murphdom:What size roll pins are used in flipper linkage?
I would imagine it is game dependent. I don't have any roll pins in any of my flipper linkages.

The pin that holds the link of the plunger onto the flipper pawl.

The catalog shows that on page 14. It is 3/16 x 3/4.
