I've always had a simmering love affair with EMs, but two things happened recently that brought it to a boil. First, I had a great game on Abra Ca Dabra at the Pinvasion tournament at SFGE. I think my score was in the top 10 for the weekend. Needless to say, it was better than making out in the back seat in 1978 with a bottle of wine. THEN, THEN, I bought a beautiful Jumping Jack at SFGE (pics to follow, I can't stop playing). Once I installed the new Shay repro backglass, something magic happened - the game came alive for me. I had two great games in a row (the last one was 75,600).

Now I'm looking all over for more 70's Gottliebs. I love Gottliebs more than zombies love brains. Can't wait to finish restoring my C37 and Buccaneer.

Wow, you're like this at this time of the year? Wait 'til the days get shorter and it gets chilly out. You'll want them even more!

Summer in GA is like winter in WI - nobody wants to go outside.

That is a really good fever to have.

Try a woodrail soon, to spread the fever further.

    The line forms here.

I think you mentioned that you were recently not into pinball and more into biking. Looks like the fever has come around again.

Yep, taking a break for a few months can often be a good thing.

    I'm with ya Swamp.

I'm still looking for my first EM!

I rolled that Abra, Bob Matthews was watching and confirmed it. I score like 90,000 points on ball 5, dropped all the targets, then reset and kept it alive. It was a total thrill. Just thinking about it excites me.

I rolled it too. (EDIT: #5 score: http://www.slam-tilt.com/atlanta/playerIndex.php?disp=game&sel=Classics&game=12)

Great pin, great art...who wants to sell me one cheap?

I love the gameplay on Jumping Jack. Nothing better than missing the skill shot, hitting 9 targets, and then finally hitting the lit saucer to qualify 10x bonus scoring just before getting the last target and collecting the bonus.

That's nice but No, you can't have my Gottlieb's or my Brains.

Welcome to the EM obsession. Someday you'll look back on your
first EM and wonder how you could only have one. The next level
beyond the common EM are early (1930's) mechanical machines and
even bingos. Lots to discover in this group too.

Only if you sit down to pee. I enjoy watching football in Green Bay during January. Then ski season.

I started out with mostly early Bally solid state pins and have over the last few years really got hooked on many EM games from the 50's through the 70's. My collection is now around 50 or so pins and about 60% of them are EMs. I now seem to add two EM games for every SS game I buy. Wait until you start collecting EM rifle games, EM shuffle bowlers and other early EM coin-op stuff...

I have a killer restored Jack in the Box, and that is the game that really got me into pinball when I was 12 or so....am 53 now! That is my favorite EM, though I enjoy many others. Glad you discovered that game.

I added a VERY nice Abra Ca Dabra today for about $1200. Actually, it was $500 and a "silver" CPR Fathom playfield that my game didn't need nearly as much as his. I hope my trading partner is happy with the deal, I sure am.

Looks like my first will be a Quick Draw. Only the fast and the dead round here. I'm stoked!

I think that's the best EM around - congrats!

As a kid a neighbor had a Williams Honey, which I love to play. My first pinball machine was a Williams Dealers Choice, but I never got it to work properly. Although I can't fix them, I can appreciate EM games a lot and love playing them. I was very happy with the EM lineup at the NW Pinball & Arcade Show. Played each one of them and kept coming back for more

On a sidenote: One of the reason to publish the PINBALL book by Santiago Ciuffo were the photos of EM games that are in the book. The artwork is just something else and I like it a lot.

Now if you only had a place to actually play them..

For full disclosure, I sold my last two EM's to Shawn! Hopefully Jet Spin is a keeper. I really like the roto+vari target so far...just gotta get it playing fast to find out..

Swampfire, you gotta visit Wigglesville permanently or at least get a condo there. It's nice all year round
