Last year it rained so hence the tarps. Otherwise I think people would keep it open more. There's also an award for best machine as well if I recall. Super fun times! Pets, kids OK too and weed is legal in CO

Just got back from this. I wanted to throw this out there, even if you don't want to compete, you can still come play ($10 registration, or buy a shirt). But they do a golf style tourny where every machine has a par score and your goal is to reach that score in as little balls as possible, so it's much more accessible to casual players (I got a hole in one on a machine I never played before just because I got lucky). I kind of regret not competing this year (there's no way I would've placed, but it would've been great to compete and the camaraderie with the other people in the group, let alone everyone who's there), but still had a great time and I really hope to make it next year.
This year the pins were:
Dale Jr.
Water World
Golden Eye
Grand Prix
Fun house
8 Ball Champ
Elvira and the party monsters
Scared Stiff
Tron
Transformers
Bo Bo
Whirlwind
Wheel of Fortune
F-14 Tomcat
Jack*Bot
Cosmic Gunfight
2 other EMs that I can't remember (not because they're bad, but because I'm still kinda getting into this hobby and still learning to appreciate the older stuff)
There were also two Stern machines there this year that didn't get mentioned on the above list:
Nine Ball (http://www.ipdb.org/machine.cgi?id=1678)
Stars (http://www.ipdb.org/machine.cgi?id=2366)
Our first time there.....didn't compete in the tournament...but had a fun time
Kinda weird playing pinball outside

Great event! Great games! Great people! Get a site or cabin for next year as we are trying to get the whole campground to ourselves. Don't wait. Cabins are booking up fast already. Thanks, Steve for the event and everyone who brought games and helped.

Confirming Dates will be Sept 9 and 10, 2016?
If so, I have a cabin reserved already.
Here are some shots from this past weekend in Colorado. It was frikkin' gorgeous this weekend! These are pics of some of, but not all the sites from the event (Including the "Best Cabin" winning cabin put together by the Carroll LCP crew with the 007 theme featuring Goldeneye, popcorn, jelly beans and the choice of gin/vodka martinis. Skaken, not stirred of course). I did get pics of the northern cabbins including my own cabin with Barracora and Zach Smith's cabin featuring BOTH Elvira pins. Since I wasn't able to catch all the sites before the weekend was out, I'm hoping that other attendees will post their pics of the 7th annual Dory Hill weekend as well.
See y'all there next year!

Steve who runs the event said it will be the same week as every year. The weekend after labor day so I think ya got it right Whysnow, see ya there.
looks like an absolute blast. If not for the time of year, back to school week here, It would be on my shortlist of pinball events.

Fix up that blackwater100 and bring it next year
There was also a cluster of game further up the hill that are not pictured probably because Caucasian2step (the picture taker) was causing trouble down at the lower end of camp ground, he he he
I have cabins G and K reserved. If someone has Cabin H and wants to take K, then let me know.
I see on the site that GandH share a pit/outdoor space so may be nice to have them together.
Quoted from ghostbc:Thanks for the pic's Kevin Ryan , I should not bitch as i did not take a single pic.
I find it hard to believe that no one took images of the most righteous 007 cabin!
I heard about this for a year and decided to go, it was an awesome experience, hands down the most fun and relaxing tournament I've attended.

The animated light show makes it look even better at night... The under-cabinet lighting was genius.

If I had more time, I would've taken some Photo Spheres all over the place.
This is great! You can see the Martini Bar in the back!
I have a lake cabin in Michigan that has a "Barn Bar" and about 6-7 rental cabins on it as well as a large garage we have, and an pole barn, I may have to steal this idea and bring it to the midwest. It looks like an absolute blast.
Please do. It's the best. Check the FB page and talk to Steve. He can help you with the learning curve he went through for the past 7 years of this event.

Thanks, I will look into that.
Any thoughts about adjusting the format next year due to new WPPR rules regarding Pingolf? I think the new rule changes will affect Dory Hill significantly.
Quoted from Russell:Any thoughts about adjusting the format next year due to new WPPR rules regarding Pingolf? I think the new rule changes will affect Dory Hill significantly.
Yeah, gonna need a playoff/ direct play component (even if JUST the top 10%) in order to have any value in WPPR is my understanding.
I am not sure of the current format but with golf style I know they dont always have a playoff component.
If adding in direct play it would be cool to have it be golf style still. You could also have a playoff component be very simple and maintain the integrity of the original design but still meet new IFPA rules if you get creative with it.
This event looks like such a blast!
I can imagine wandering from cabin to cabin at night with the sounds and the glowing lights and such... too cool!
Its more like stagger and weaving from cabin to cabin but yeah, its a very cool event with great people.
I had a great time. People bring food and drink to share and its all pinball, all of the time.
Many thanks to Steve Trujillo for organizing the event and Ryan Wagner for running the tournament. And special thanks to everyone that brought a game for all to play and enjoy.
Big ups to Steve Trujillo for putting on this event and Ryan Wanger for handling TD duties. Also, Rob Lawrence fixed a bunch of table on the spot to make sure the tourney went on. all in all, This year went super smooth!

Added over 8 years ago: Apologies to Rob. I got his last name wrong. Thanks to Rob ANTHONY for his awesome work to help make this event a success!
Made the top 5-8. Had all the chances to advance into the final round, but didn't make the shots. Still, I made my entry fee back and had a fantastic weekend!

Thanks to Steve and Ryan and everyone else that puts this event on. We had a blast and assuming we can get a cabin will be back for next year.
I assume it will be the weekend after Labor day again? Sept 8-10th, 2017?
My personal favorite games were Defender, BW100, and Viking! Had a blast playing all the games but really enjoyed some session tome on those 3.
More than anything I really enjoyed the PEOPLE! (and pets) So many new friends and great pinball people in CO!
Good times and great turnout this year... nearly 60 participants, and a very tough field. Uniquely Colorado.
Quoted from Caucasian2Step:Also, Rob Lawrence fixed a bunch of table on the spot to make sure the tourney went on
just for accuracy > Rob Anthony is the man that saved the weekend. I think he personally brought 4 games back to life! Huge thanks to Rob for all the help.
