Well. I screwed up today. Probably not the right place to post. I blew BR1(bridge rectifier) on the fliptronic board. It all started because I was having magnet issues again. I read where somebody replaced U22 and U6 chips. I planned on doing that, but this problem happened a year or more ago and all I did was unplug and replug the connection under the playfield. It worked for over a year. I was thinking maybe something was loose or the solder on the back of the fliptronic board where the magnet plugs in, needed reflowed. I had the board loose looking at the back side of it. I thought with the power on I could wiggle the molex or press on the wires and see if it’s helped the magnet come on. I know not to unplug connections while the game is on, but I thought if I could just wiggle it a little. I guess the back of the board, while it was hanging was leaning on one of the screws (that holds the board) that I left in, when I powered on. I didn’t even get a chance to wiggle it. Such a dummy. Wouldn’t have helped anyway I’m sure. Haha. Anyway now the rectifier is blown and my DMD has lines, and no sound(some sound but only a few sound effects..no music) Not sure where to start with that. It cleared up for a minute and the sound was there. I just went to turn it on again to see if that was a coincidence and it was. Still screwed for now.
I’m really trying to figure out how to work on my pins but may need to start hiring a pro. Anywho, Don’t rip me too bad guys. I know it was a dumb thing to do.
I’m thinking I’m going to order a new BR and whatever else I need to get the sound and DMD back... or maybe even a new fliptronic board. What do you guys think?
Since owning DH, the guy I bought it from said that the board might be bad. I haven’t had any problems for over a year but he seemed to think the board causes the intermittent issues with the magnet not working. Anybody else struggling with magnet not working these days? Before this happened it was reading the optics in test but not grabbing the ball.
