Hey guys - very happy to be a part of this fine club! I got my DH this summer and its an absolute beauty imo! Perfect edge to the HQ hole just overall very solid! I plan to add:
-the art backboard and side boards
-a few extra PF spotlights
-PINSHAKER Shaker Motor (havent read this on the forum yet - Im really hoping it goes well aha wish me luck!)

One thing about my game - I feel like the playfield was beautiful and flat when I got it, but now I am clearly seeing the dimpling in the area in front of the gun, for this reason I am thinking about adding a sheet playfield protector - has anybody else done this? Did it affect gameplay in any unseen ways?

Welcome to the club. Definitely looks like a great machine. I’m not sure how bad the dimpling is probably not that bad with some of the other signs of non wear. I added a picture before I restored it.

Zoom in and you can see some real dimpling and not sure if any protecter would help. IMO

I would not worry about the dimpling and just play it. Oh and get a cliffy for that hole so it stays looking good

Thanks. I got this design from kensurfs video. But I used diamond plate for the background instead. The case is from a Golden Tee golf arcade game.

Yep. That's what it does. Hard to catch in pics or video but it looks great!

I like it! Your Dirty Harry reminds me of an artistic movie poster brought to life that you get to interact with. With colors representing a posterization effect of light in a 3D space.

Two changes made to my unit today:
1) Clear Red Bally flippers with clear rubbers , and lighted flipper buttons!

2) PINSHAKER motor! And wow guys I have to say if nobody else has recommended, it enhances the gameplay a bunch! If anybody has been on the fence about adding a Shaker to your machine, I cant recommend it enough!

I dont know how to share the Shaker enjoyment with the group, but heres pictures of the clear flippers

-Model was Pinshakers standard https://www.pinballlife.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=Pinshakers_STD_Kit

-Installation was 80% straightforward, my kit had one pair of connectors that didnt match up (see my post on the Pinshaker thread) which stalled me for a day - but I just whittled one molex end and installed anyways and all is working well.

-Inititally I tried hooking to flashers (pinshakers 'Harness A') but the problem is all the flashers go off almost every 5 seconds on this game. Currently I am hooked to one trigger on harness A: gun motor flasher and most triggers on 'Harness B': All pop bumpers, left 'popper', ramp diverter and 'trapdoor hold'. What this means is the shaker goes off when a VUK is fired, when ball is launched, when the gun is loaded/ fired or when ramp diverter goes, and when the ball is in the bumpers. It goes off often during multiball which is great! Overall with these settings the shaker seems to accentuate the important game moments, without being too pervasive. Works as well as I could have hoped!

Hey guys, just to save you a little time you are looking at a 'promo' early run DH that had a warehouse 'door' drop-target to ener the warehouse. The code to operate this drop target is included in every DH, you can add one yourself, it probably makes the game a little faster (rather than alway have the VUK return you might get some quick blowback from the target...) I have never played one but they look fun! The real question is, does it have a shaker motor?

Hello.

I just joined the club a few weeks ago and love the game. I have run into my first issue with the game. Anytime I press the left flipper button it scores 2 million points automatically. After 5 presses it gives 10 million magna force award. Also at the start of the ball the three options flash up and then disappear before a choice can be made. I have checked all the wires to flipper coil and everything looks clean. There are no errors. Having the game for only a few weeks I am not familiar with the scoring. Anyone have any idea of what shot is worth 2 million? Could it be magna force? The gun does launch the ball normally. Unfortunately I do not have the schematics yet. Still trying to find those. Thanks!

I'm better with system 11's, but kind of sounds like a bad diode on a switch. But I know these era's don't have as many diodes as earlier games. I think you can get the manual online.

Go into switch edge test. Then hit the flipper button. You will see which switch is triggering. Could be a cold solder joint.

It could equally be a switch that is on a hair trigger which is activating with the vibration of the flipper. Try smacking the cabinet and see if it triggers also

For the schematics, try the IPDB pinball website and search for the manual on the Dirty Harry page.

Hello. I just picked up my Dirty Harry and have some errors. I always tare them right down and clean playfield and fix issues when i get a pin. I fixed a few switch errors but it keeps telling me that my trap door is open and it is not. It did this when i got the game and before cleaning. Any ideas what to check? Glad to join this club finally.

I was getting the trap door is stuck closed. I went through the trap door test and it functioned fine but the error remained. The only way I cleared the error was to restore factory settings.

Thanks. It stoped on its own. However I have other issues going on. I have a whole column out now.

I could use a photo of your display in test - switch edges. I could also use a photo of under the playfield connection for standup targets 4 and 5 (two in the middle playfield) where the two plug into harness. Thank you in advance.

Maybe somebody has already asked this, but I am having some trouble locating a response.

I have heard of issues where the ball rolls right through the gun.

My issue is that when you load the gun on the skill shot select ---it rolls down but does not have enough speed (energy) to get into the gun. IT rolls up toward the gun, then rolls backwards and is essentially stuck.

Is there a simple adjustment to the ramp to raise it up a little to give ball better momentum to get into the gun?

Oh man that game is psychedelic man - bravo! The topper is 10/10! Glad you agree about the pinshaker - this feels like the perfect game for it, nothing more satisfying than shooting the gun and having the whole machine rumble!

On my game the wire ramp always has enough angle to get the ball into the gun - can you post a picture? The wire ramp connects right to the rear ramp, which you might be able to 'cinch up' slightly, but not that easily. Is your game set at the min 6.5 degree tilt or higher?

I’m on the hunt for plastics if anyone has a lead .

Hello gents,
Fairly new to the hobby and have this machine. I really enjoy it. Found a home used beauty in superb shape. All original with no LEDs. So, it's been recommended by another pinsider that I became friendly with, to only go with Comets. Unfortunately they do not have a pre made package for the DH. Can any one recommend a lighting package that they've used to upgrade this machine? Go ahead make my day.

Comet and Cointaker quality is pretty similar, in my experience.
If Comet has what you want, they are generally less expensive.
Both are great to deal with.

Just bulk order cool or warm whites. In 44 and 555, plus whatever flashers, thats been my go to. A blinker for the bridge light in the back box is a cheap, nice mod too.
