Quoted from Sammy31:

I could be wrong but I think that may be the connector that should have gone to the pop up target (only prototype DH games had this target).

It is not, I added a drop target that is fully functioning and that plug continues to hang there with no connection.

#1402 3 years ago

I have one of the 70 original sample games and that connector is unused and hanging there just like yours.

Quoted from wiggy07:

I did an install video on these years ago. They work pretty well.

Thanks for the video. I got mine yesterday, but looks like they only included 6 magnets. Your video looked like you received 10-12.

Well. I screwed up today. Probably not the right place to post. I blew BR1(bridge rectifier) on the fliptronic board. It all started because I was having magnet issues again. I read where somebody replaced U22 and U6 chips. I planned on doing that, but this problem happened a year or more ago and all I did was unplug and replug the connection under the playfield. It worked for over a year. I was thinking maybe something was loose or the solder on the back of the fliptronic board where the magnet plugs in, needed reflowed. I had the board loose looking at the back side of it. I thought with the power on I could wiggle the molex or press on the wires and see if it’s helped the magnet come on. I know not to unplug connections while the game is on, but I thought if I could just wiggle it a little. I guess the back of the board, while it was hanging was leaning on one of the screws (that holds the board) that I left in, when I powered on. I didn’t even get a chance to wiggle it. Such a dummy. Wouldn’t have helped anyway I’m sure. Haha. Anyway now the rectifier is blown and my DMD has lines, and no sound(some sound but only a few sound effects..no music) Not sure where to start with that. It cleared up for a minute and the sound was there. I just went to turn it on again to see if that was a coincidence and it was. Still screwed for now.
I’m really trying to figure out how to work on my pins but may need to start hiring a pro. Anywho, Don’t rip me too bad guys. I know it was a dumb thing to do.
I’m thinking I’m going to order a new BR and whatever else I need to get the sound and DMD back... or maybe even a new fliptronic board. What do you guys think?
Since owning DH, the guy I bought it from said that the board might be bad. I haven’t had any problems for over a year but he seemed to think the board causes the intermittent issues with the magnet not working. Anybody else struggling with magnet not working these days? Before this happened it was reading the optics in test but not grabbing the ball.

Question on playfield GI, I got my DH working about 8 months ago, but the playfield GI was blowing the fuse on the power driver board on booting so I left it unplugged. Last weekend I finally revisited the GI checked each string one at a time and they all worked without popping the fuse. So I plugged it in all good. Now the question. When a game starts the GI lights flicker rapidly until the first shot or mode is hit or started is this normal? I can't remember since it's been so long since I played a DH in the wild. Appreciate any comments thx.

Being super noob still, not sure if it would help, but I have the “allow dim illumination” setting on mine turned off. It’s in Standard Settings A1.25
I just checked to see if mine does the flicker with this setting on, and it has a super noticeable flicker, because I have LED’s in it. The flicker looks more like the lights are shutting off and on. Not sure how it looks with standard bulbs. May not be as bad, but still noticeable. I didn’t like that effect with the LEF’s in. The manual describes it with the setting on, as a dim light effect during gameplay. May be worth a shot turning hours off to see if it helps. May be something more serious though, like not getting enough juice, but I’m all about trying the simple stuff first.

Should just be a flasher. I got a warm white 8smd flex bulb in mine now. To accent the bullet. Kind of reminds ya of a real gun firing with that warm spark. Haha. I only went with flex so I could aim it upwards. You can adjust flex to aim whichever direction You want. You could probably just grab any wedge base flasher though. A standard LED one will shine to the left because all the light is in the top of the led. Could always get one with leds on all sides of too. A standard incandescent wedge flasher will do, but I just like LED’s.

Is this bulb a 12v, a flasher, or both? It says 89 on it. Want to order a Comet LED, not sure what to get. Thanks

Eos is short for end of stroke. It’s the leaf switch at each flipper. Your messages are saying to check all the upper right , left and right. But you say they are working so they flip and can you get them to stay up? In the back box is the flipper board in the upper left corner. Here is the manual page for the fliptronic board and wiring diagram. With power off you could try to unplug and reseat j906.

Did that and still there, is there a certain time before it gets removed?

#1421 3 years ago

I’m dealing with the same issue currently. If I get it figured out I’ll let you know.
I’ve tried resetting the connectors on mine, and even swapped boards out with a brand new rottendog fliptronic board. Since doing that I’m now getting a buzz in my right lower flipper coil and it sticks up after one flip. A local tech is trying to help me, and Pin_Guy is helping me in a different post.

Thx, i know nothing about troubleshoot, i can change parts and stuff but that’s it lol

I was getting that same message recently for both lower flippers. I’m pretty sure I found a wire that was off on the upper flipper and when soldered back the error went away.

Did that message just appear recently or has it been like that since you got the game.if it’s a new message could be cause of a wire that came off due to vibration.

Quoted from supermatt:

Maybe Paseb should look at all 3 flipper mechs. And check the leaf switches to make sure all wires look attached.

Not trying to hijack, but since we are both dealing with flipper issues, I’m doing the same now, and checking my EOS wiring.
Is it normal for the left and upper right flipper to have 2 orange wires attached together, but the lower right only has 1 orange wire and 1 black?

Dirty Harry owners- if one of you has a machine ready for an immediate ramp install, I am looking for someone to try a new set of ramps out and give me feedback on how they fit before I release them to the public. This person will receive a discounted set of ramps for their trouble. You should have some mechanical ability, just in case we have to make tweaks along the way...if there is a show stopper problem, you will get another set of ramps (you won't be stuck with some hacked up modified piece).

This ramp set has a bunch of opto mounts, brackets and whatnot attached to them- I can install them myself if you send them to me, or you are welcome to install your own if you have the tools.

I am looking at having a set of these ready to go out this week, and would be looking for feedback within a week or so after arriving in your hands. If you think you are a good candidate, please PM me! I am going to hold this to US owners only right now...as shipping times overseas can add weeks to the process.

Thanks,
Jody

I’m at this point after installing art blades and pulling the damaged right ramp. I’ll send you a PM.

I pulled my driver board from theatre of magic to isolate any transistor issues ... acts the same. Leads me to only think it’s wiring .

I had to read several times as well. Re read these a couple times this is for just the coils. One side borrows from coils on the playfield and the other side goes to back box. It is explained pretty good and works but might be different then factory wiring.
My colors are different then the explanation but you could always look back at the posts pics for color guide to match explanation.

Yes for sure I think I may have it figured out now .

But still want to verify what the factory did as not any manuals on the right wires since this was the 7th proto and not everything matches up .

My last issue is :

Righ ramp gate is firing under test mode but somehow makes the 25 drop target test solenoid fire as well ..

Same with left top popper under test makes the left ramp diverter fire as well .

I’m not reading in manual that the tie back at 122 6-7-8-9 is specifically for the three switches mentioned .

Note under solenoid test drop target 25 fires properly .

Quoted from Localspeedshop:

Yes for sure I think I may have it figured out now .
But still want to verify what the factory did as not any manuals on the right wires since this was the 7th proto and not everything matches up .
My last issue is :

Sure thing. I’ll be able to take them tomorrow.

I have a Color Display in my game, (which I don’t think affects what you are looking at in your pm pics) otherwise factory sample w/Drop Target.

I have no connectors at J123 & J124.
Wiring at J122 is different from yours.
