Im sure someone has already posted this, but I stumbled across it the other day. This is the original promo for DH. I like how they put a chalk out line next to the machine. Some dots in the promo I still havent seen.

#702 6 years ago
Quoted from indypinhead:

Decent deals don't last long in this hobby. Sometimes, you have to drop what you're doing and head out to see the machine as quickly as you can.
Dirty Harry machines don't seem to come up for sale all that often....but there will be others.

I had the same problem. I was late by a day or two on three different DH pins. I bought a JM from someone on pinside right after I missed out on the 3rd one. I told him this and a short while later he had a sample DH and called me. It helps to share sometimes.

#703 6 years ago

A twilight zone sold here for 1200 the other week by a company who had had it in their lunch room for years.

A friend bought it, he lived very close by and he just went there with the money and a sack barrow ready and said he was the guy who was gonna pick it up. The add had no phone number included, only email service. The guy stood there with a red face, but hey, he was selling a machine for a company and it needed to go.

Lesson here? Be quick and ice cold.

Quoted from RipleYYY:

i have some interest in a DH, can you convince me it's (really) good !?
i'm already OK with the theme, and the calls out (even if i'm native french) from Clint itself
let's admit the artwork is just OK
i need more infos about the gameplay & rules, from a player point of view, as i feel the pin is quite easy and there're no much to do on it !?
in fact, already tested (only few games) and i finish it while scoring 2B pts... the videos posted on PAPA make me feel same idea...
than, did i'm wrong about it ? tell me
tanx

1 year is gone...

and tomorrow DH should be there
i'm happy already, but sad in the other way, as its a swap with my BSD
more to come

#706 6 years ago

I think you just made an upgrade.

#707 6 years ago

tanx, as yes, DH is now in the house

Quoted from Billy16:

I think you just made an upgrade.

well, surelly this will be a long story, as its a different feeling for evdb
but for sure we will miss BSD, not only because of the "hype", but simply because its really a very good pinball for a lots of good reasons, and as "players" its a perpetual challenge to play it & kick his ass (as most of the time, you've got your ass kicked !)

but OK, i have no freeplace (and no infinite money for pins), than i have to make a turn around, simple as that
and DH was a well studied option, and for sure on my wanted list

than its a win-win situation for the 2 sides

Need opinions, gonna powder coat the legs and rails what color should i do

Teekee posted a nice DH......

https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/show-off-your-powder-coated-machines-here?tu=teekee

#710 6 years ago

Not a fan of powder coating really but black outs usually look pretty damn sharp.

#711 6 years ago

I thought so too.

#712 6 years ago

I was thinking maybe a blue that matches the sky in the side art

#713 6 years ago

I would do a dark purple or gloss black. I have accented the white inserts with pink leds and a few other controlled lamps with purple. All my GI is cold white so it looks sharp. I like the comic book feel of it.

#714 6 years ago

my DH came with lightning (than shorter) flippers
i could be wrong but from factory DH was set-up with "normal" ones, correct !?

#715 6 years ago

Here's the lighting on mine

some more infos, as pin is not to my house, can play it every day... snif

got 2 smalls probs :

- as some others, sometimes ball did not stay in the gun (while falling in it)
using the small rubber didnt help (because than ball even stay blocked on the rail)
but i've noticed that my problem is because the gun had a bad position while waiting, the front is just a bit lower than the 0° ... i didnt know why it has stopped in that "bad" position
to make it back a bit higher & in good position, than have to "load the gun" skillshot in the next ball, and than it moves OK before ball get in

(PS : gun calibration in the setup was OK)

- other probs, the clip gun : sometimes, ball ejection from under the PF (than after "load the gun") is bad as ball remain blocked just at the exit, by the small steel part piece... a ball search (coil firing) is enough to clear it as ball than moves... slope seems OK to me (may be to high ?)
seems an easy tweak there with a small piece of plastic and/or limer (in french) the small steel spot

dh (resized).JPGdh (resized).JPG

some advices ?
all else is working & playing perfectly, i love DH already

#719 6 years ago

Adjust the wire ramp slightly in so the ball stops against the ramp before falling into the gun. That should be enough to keep it from falling out.

#720 6 years ago

will check asap...

#721 6 years ago

Anyone getting airballs on the right ramp? Ive lowered the machine a bit....but still seems to be an issue

#722 6 years ago

Airballs from right ramp? Wow never heard of that before. Those ramps should be tough to get a ball up *correct flipper coils?), so the idea of them squirting off seems strange...eXpecially with the plastic cover over the ramp. That piece in place?

#723 6 years ago

I hear ya. I'm getting the air balls on the return...they are flying out of the ramp...when it almost completes the loop. The ball will fly out and it will land on the plastics, just above the HQ hole. I did replace the coils a couple of years ago. See if I can post a video over the weekend.

#724 6 years ago

Ahhhh...interesting indeed. Huh that IS a weird one.

I've had that happen before as the ball makes the turn but most times it just bounces around in the ramp and stays in. It has bounced out a few times though.

#726 6 years ago

Maybe try pitching the game up another degree to slow down that ball going around the ramp...

#727 6 years ago

Does anyone know how to trigger the Mearhead animation where he Diggs up the ball and has it in his mouth? Colordmd just announced Dirty Harry as game 65. Eric did not see this animation when working on the game. Any help we can provide him so he can access this animation so it can be colored would be great. Please chime in here or the DH Colordmd release announcement if you can help. Thanks!

i think that animation is awarded after the 3rd or 4th extra ball if i remember...

Guess I need to look up all the ways to earn an extra ball.

I'm coming up with 4 max:
- Magazine award
- Warehouse contraband award
- Safehouse award
- Repaly (set to extra ball)

No? Maybe you can loop the magazine/safehouse/contraband back around for another?

Side note: some of the high level contraband awards (20+) cracked me up.

#730 6 years ago
Quoted from epthegeek:

hmm...let's see.

1. copper ball award in warehouse raid
2. 'feel lucky' shot with gun awards extra ball when option at target
3. light extra ball with magnum bullet advance

i don't play it much these days, that's what i recall.

#731 6 years ago

Ooh, right - the feel lucky thing would be another. If it came up as an option.

Quoted from Sammy31:

I moved not too long ago.....I changed the pitch...that seemed to take care of the problem. The ramp is starting to look a little worn, I really don't want to jack with replacing the ramps on DH...lol.

#737 6 years ago

I got to get my hands on a DH. The color DMD looks awesome. I wonder how they rendered Meathead?

Love Meathead--hopefully he looks a lot better in color than he does in orange...

#739 6 years ago

Anybody have any custom instruction cards that they recommend?
