So I'm still having some weird issues with the Diner. Mostly the scoring and/or lack of scoring with the drop targets. The game does some other funky stuff, intermittently. When there are no balls in the game and its turned on even after I've remembered to put the balls back in, it doesn't like to boot properly. It goes to attract mode but will not start a game, just resets and odd controlled lamps come on, as if its confused that it detected no balls. After a few restarts it's fine, except for these other issues...I've noticed that when you lock a ball, the g.i. turn off for a split second, but not nearly every time. I think this is supposed to be a normal feature, as well as flashing the g.i. to the "Today's Special" music. It almost never does that. One more thing, the Dine Time clock works correctly 99% of the time, but sometimes, seems like when it's at 10 o'clock or later, it will only cycle around to 8 o'clock but the lights around the perimeter are correct and it scores correctly. Long post, I know. What I'm getting at is I thought this could be a ground issue, possibly causing all these symptoms. The 3rd prong was missing from the line cord so I replaced the line cord. I'm thinking it would be a good idea to connect the green ground wire to the nearby braid? Also, there is a ground braid leading up towards the backbox, encased in a clear plastic tube. The first time I screwed it into the metal ground plane back there, the left slingshot stuck on and burned out the coil. I took the braid back off (it was not connected when I got the game). Now with the new line cord in and this braid leading to the backbox re attached the sling is ok. With all that being said, now that the grounding is sorted out (minus connecting the braid to the green wire coming from line cord??), could my strange issues be a board problem or a ROM problem? Looks like replacement ROMs are installed? Mostly looking to fix the drop target issue. Sometimes they work fine. Most times one keeps scoring after it's down. Some of them don't score at all. I have new Gulf pinball replacement boards. Using one of those and one original. Seems the same no matter what combination I do. Really lost on this....

One note, that ground wire in the plastic tube should attach to a bolt with a wing nut just to the left of the opening of the head.

I reseated the connectors on the CPU 1J10 and 1J8 and the drop target issue seems to have been solved. Thinking about repinning those connectors.

    It would not hurt.
