Look:
The switches work great!:
All the coils in the head share 1 wire for the high voltage positive,that is the candy cane colored wire running down there...
But each coil has its own driver position.
Hence the 4 brown wires in the connector.
When the code tells a transistor to pull to ground,that specific coil i pulsed.
Easy as that.
Again,great board set,i can’t say that enuff...
This board is on location where a lot of coils and motors need wiring,MINIMAL WIRING NEEDED with this fast system.

3 wires in a connector added here for the 2 switches for the mouth movement.
They share a common ground.
I'd be concerned about that pot being used in series with the motor.
Most pots... esp something this small; only handle 250mW of power... and that motor is going to take a lot of current.
You need to investigate using PWM to drive the motor to slow it down ... I'm pretty sure that pot won't last very long in it's current use model.

The crappy dremel was 18 volt,it had an 18 volt power supply,i connected it to a 5 volt connection to tune down to 1.9 volts(1.9 Volt makes the ideal mouth speed )
So i don’t think it is going to be an issue...my new mech runs light as a feather so it needs next to nothing....if the dremel was 5 volts and i put 18 volts on the pot meter i would also be worried!
But you have a valid point,be careful what you hook up,you can only burn down your pinball once!

Thanks,the dremel was a freebee and i just hord/accumulate crap like that.. if you need something,you just go through your crate of crap and crack something open and repurpose it!
Look at all the crap in this crate alone!
The thing i am holding for example is a motor with leds that used to drive a disco mirror ball...great slow rotation on that motor...we will totally put that to good use.
I also hord power supplies in all voltages!

I'm sure that board IS a PWM circuit and not just a resistor, look at all the active stuff. Arduino reading a voltage divider and doing PWM to a switching FET, probably exactly what you were thinking of. Just my guess of course.

When I pulled the bag out for the photo I noticed about a dozen overflowing into the box underneath. I respectfully disagree with calling it hoarding... more of recycling as these things come in handy periodically.

Nope. the Key is:
DC 18V 7W
The board total for the original dremel was no more than:
7W / 18V or .388amps or 388 mA.
Is your motor going to draw more than .388Amps? If so that board isn't going to work long.
My gut tells me that any binding on the motor; and you'll draw a lot more than 400mA.

The spec on the tool is for the motor, not the speed control. The control might supply many times that amount. Current FETs (4th gen?) in a TO-220 package can typically supply many amps.

Very green indeed,it is good to repurpose stuff...people buy and toss so much stuff nowerdays man...it is just wrong.
I can repair almost anything,i just start on opening something when it breaks down and look at how it is supposed to work?
I lately repaired a 40 inch LCD , dishwasher and my wash dryer....for a couple of bucks!?
My daughter always says “my dad can repair anything!” (So nowerdays when i fail at fixing sumtin,i toss it out the backdoor so she doesn’t see it..way too proud of that title! )

It is a brutal hot day in Pinball Amigos headquarters,so i used this cat flap(we don’t have a cat,it came with the house ) to run our Amigos mobile AC unit!
That way we can work like normal.
The pinball building is metal and look at that sun turning it into a boiling pan
