Quite a few pics of that wonderful Black Nail today!! I have tried to keep the "Thumb posts" to a minimum as to not derail the thread, but please forgive the one interruption here for a final update. For those who aren't aware of what I'm talking about, read posts 2268-2277.
Here is another link to the poll that was setup to guess when the black would be completely gone from the thumbnail. http://bebepool.com/pinzap
To be fair to everyone and prevent late guessing from being much more accurate, I am locking the poll next Friday. There were several pics today so if anyone wants to update their guess, go ahead and enter a new guess and I will delete all but the last guess once the poll closes. This will allow early guessers to be on the same footing so to speak as those just entering the contest now with more recent pics. Oh yes, and PLEASE be sure to use your pinside name when entering (no email please)... I already saw at least 1 guess from a name I couldn't find on Pinside.
Thanks Mic and again, pardon the interruption. Absolutely LOVE the way the backbox is turning out!!! Carry on...

Meantime in amigo headquarter:
Debating about the bannister...

(from post 2654 above) cracked me up because it looks like the two heads in the backbox are part of the debate! Thanks for another fun Friday.

Been on a Star Trek Cruise, recovering from the flu, and my own project... so I just binge read 270 posts to catch up.
Quoted from pinballrockstar:See John Zitt!?
Told you it was on its way from china
Yeah! good to see. Use it in good health.
Quoted from pinballrockstar:We present to you:
Lord Grimm,he owned the mansion sinds the 1800’s
That eye is funking awesome. Am I the only one who thinks the Amigos to use a red fine tipped sharpie and put some read veins on the eyeball so it look bloodshot from excessive drinking... or to little sleep from the insane patients?
I wonder if you painted the underside black but for a spider web series of blood shot veins... if it would back light well and you could then see the blood shot veins change color. One could even place a filter to block the normal color light (mostly) and then the veins would appear when the eye turned to red or something like that.
Cool idea
Quoted from Dee-Bow:hope that upside down thumb didn't keep you up last nite!(humour!)
Yes, it did! I kept pacing the floor trying to calm down, but got even more agitated when I realized I had paced approximately 30 yards and realized I could not quickly convert that to meters.
I tried to take a 'calm down pill' but struggled to figure out if I needed just half a pill or 30 grams.
Our King Size bed only brought more angst as I couldn't tell if King could be converted to metrics.
I figured that by staying awake with the lights on I was burning even more Kw hours, and wondered for 2 hours why we use that instead of some other conversion.
As the night wore on, I got out my old 5th bottle of Jim Beam bourbon and while sipping a drink notice on the bottle it was no longer called a 5th, but 750 milileters! It just kept getting worse when I mixed it with a 2 liter Coke!!! What happened to the 2 quart version?!!!
I finally caved in and forced myself to try and sleep. Looked over at the digital clock and it turned from 2 a.m. to 0200 hours!!! What the F?!!! It's a slow sabotage of the American way of life!
It's all good! When I realized you too were trying to be humorous, my butt-hole relaxed 30 cm.

Yeah the heads often debate us on the plans..they also tell a joke every once in a while

Hahaha
Quoted from pinballrockstar:The measurements are the hardest part
Thats because youre using the metric system
Quoted from pinballrockstar:One of my gumballs in my 1950’s gumball machine turned red?
Like...huh?
Only that one!
Is it pissed off or sumtin’?
This puzzles me
I only put in white, blue, green ones??
Honest to god i haven’t touched the machine in years?
I think you are ready to be put in a crazy asylum!
Bannister looks fantastic btw!
Quoted from Marten:Bannister looks fantastic
Thanks bro,it is funny how Mic envisioned the entire thing from cutting a very crappy paper bannister ( paper prototype bannister picture below..)
Thing is,we were actually shocked how straight and perfect it turned out? Totally not our style...we are always off by 1/16 of an inch.
Shitty thing being,we have to keep up that quality now...the bar is raised!
And on sunday, when i am cleaning up all the mess we made, you find evidence that Mic was not satisfied right away,he made some different columns before he gave it his stamp of approval..
You don’t notice it while he is busy on a friday, but he is not always satisfied with the outcome and starts again.
We have a total of 12 hours in this bannister, but we really couldn’t be happier with the result..
Ofcourse,if you 3d print stuff it’s way less work...but we like to come up with an idea, look at the tools we have, and start making it.
Just old skool Dutch handcraft

You need to figure out how to incorporate these into the project:
https://learn.adafruit.com/animated-electronic-eyes-using-teensy-3-1/overview
Do yourselves a favor. Buy a small air compressor and brad nailer. Very inexpensive these days. Seeing you guys with hammer and nails on that railing was painful.
Good luck with the project.

Thanks Jerry, but we cannot have a poll without my occasional black nail.
Quoted from chad:Looking good. Keep it going.
Thanks for your support Chad!

but Shapeways is Dutch
the hand rail / balcony looks sweet
MPF might get support for SSD1306-based OLEDs via I2C soon: https://www.adafruit.com/product/938 (unfortunately no color). There is also a slightly smaller version of that display (0.96''). It will act as a DMD and can be controlled via MPF-MC. You need an I2C adapter which start at less than 10€. You could use those to animate eyes but you would have to create the animations on your own.
