I need a space to set up my computer,i have this mega fast gaming pc that we never ended up using.
My son and i built it because we wanted to build a computer(bucket list sorta thing).
Now we are gonna use it for Crazy Mansion...plenty of Hp.
Let’s use the whiskey bar and a bar stool...i have been standing in a shitty corner for 2 years in a row while coding despicable me pinball madness.(thinking it was a walk in the park and ready in no time...)
This time around i know how long this takes and i start with comfort!

I need to get rid of this spaghetti...i looped all the i/o boards but let me start with 1 board...guess i was over confident.

Have you tried my playground app to see if you can light up some LEDs or see some switches registering?

    Hey!
I attached only 1 board and....
The lights of the i/o board are normal now instead of flickering

Not yet,not yet...i am still in stubborn mode... can’t let this go that easy bro...it’s a battle between me and the boards.
But i will tell you this:
I found an rj45 on closer inspection that has way less wires
Interrupting the loop...damn..did not know these were different sometimes

A coil needs 48v on one side and the other side is connected to a driver right?

    Yeah that's correct.

I watched your video, no clue what is going on there, but if you unhook all your cables from it aside from the RJ45 network cables, does the board lights start to work properly? It seems like you have a short in your wiring.

Here is a better coil diagram:

    Hi Wolf,
Sorry was out with the wife and kids watching the new Jumanji movie in 3D.
    Pissed myself,great movie!
Anyway,i think somehow the i/o board fed back 48v to the nano in some freaky way.
The nano is just completely dead.
Tried another i/o board on it but the nano hás all its voltages and when i measure at the tip points on the board, all voltage is ok(12 and 5)it is just not pairing nor showing life with its leds.
The 5 green fuses on the board are ok too.
This coil wiring you send me shows these diodes, the coil we were attampting to fire does not have one...but the docs say they are only there for double safety?
When something dies on me,i always like to find the cause and time of death.
    But this really puzzles me?
My config is simple, but it did not fire the coil,it melted the coil slowly...and ofcourse when you smell it,you are too late(well...the coil survived...)
I am not mad in any way, don’t get me wrong, beautiful board system,i really like the loop connecting and saving a ton on wiring....just annoyed i have not ruled out yet what i did wrong here.
I can afford a new nano, also not a problem at all,but i am kind of hesitant about hooking up a brand new nano and frying it again you see?
You guys can order one and have it like tomorrow.
Over here it takes a month.
That is a brick wall i run into now.

    #2444 6 years ago

So after some back and forth on Slack, the diagnose is:nano controller lost its 3.3 volts,it will most likely be my fault, cause it usually is...still don’t understand why this happened though.
That might be the scariest thing about hooking a new nano to these boards.
The guys at Fast are gonna send a new one which is the perfect opportunity to buy 2 servo controller boards.
I did not know they had those and we want to learn using servos.
Let’s change this negative in a positive!

    #2445 6 years ago

You are always so positive Bas. Inspirational to others. Keep it up my Pinball brother.

Well it actually is a very smart and interesting board set Wil...i just have to figure out a way to not break them.(still don’t know what went wrong, everything is hooked up like it should be?)
This set of boards requires minimal wiring to the switches and coils.
The rgb leds are gonna be awesome too..
We want to get smarter too during building, learning different operation systems...that is a good thing.
The Fast guys are gonna put up docs soon, that to my opinion is a priority.
But there is a Slack group where you can post issues you run into and they help you out there.

    #2448 6 years ago

Yes great system, but if you want les wiring you have to connect some boards on the playfield just like spike.
Or the wiring gets very long.
